Chapter 20 #3
“Well, do you remember the dark skinned dude that tried to holla at you when you and Jalero walked to the store?”
“Umm…yeah.” I tried to make it seem as though I had to think about his fine ass. Once a woman lays eyes on that fine specimen of a man one never forgets.
“Well, that’s him.” Jahrein told me.
“Wait a minute. Raven, Jay Black tried to hit on you?” Joy questioned me as if she was on the verge of being pissed.
“Girl, that was almost seven years ago.” I told her. I didn’t want the bitch looking at me all strange thinking that her man still wanted me.
“Oh, I was about to say.” Joy gasped, as she held her chest.
“That’s your man?” Jahrein asked.
“Yes, we’re engaged.” Joy stated proudly waving her hand showing off the rock that sat on her ring finger.
“Oh for real? That’s cool.” Jahrein nodded.
By the way Michelle rolled her eyes when Joy wasn’t looking I could tell that Joy wasn’t keeping it totally real. Either she was lying about being engaged or Mr. Jay Black was full of shit and Joy didn’t know any better. I knew my girl Michelle would fill me in later.
When the waitress came with our food I had to make sure that I didn’t take one sip of my drink. I had to piss in the worse way, but the restroom was on the opposite side near Khalil. Jahrein could always read me, so he knew that I was holding my piss.
“Raven, don’t get a bladder infection trying to hold your pee.” he whispered in my ear.
I couldn’t hold it any longer. “Fuck it. Let me out, Jahrein. I need to go to the restroom.”
“Okay.” he said as he stood to let me out the booth.
I was praying that Khalil and his friend were long gone.
They weren’t. I tried to walk as fast as I could to avoid any eye contact as I passed their table.
I used the restroom in record time. I washed my hands in only a few seconds.
When I walked back out the door Khalil was standing in the hallway.
“When did this happen?” he asked gesturing at my stomach with a disgusted look on his face.
“A while ago.” I replied trying to keep it short and simple.
“Oh yeah.” he said as he rubbed his chin.
“What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Who is the daddy?”
I looked at him disbelief. We hadn’t been fucking unprotected. He had to be crazy if he thought that it was any hope of my baby being his. Besides, I was already pregnant when we started fucking around. “Who the fuck do you think? Aint no way it’s yours.”
“Yeah okay.” he nodded. “Well, show me some paper work.”
“I don’t have to show you shit. I am almost six months, which means that I was at least two months pregnant when I started fucking with you.”
“Let you tell it. Show me some paper work.” he gritted as he moved in closer to me.
I made a dash for the door and hightailed my ass back to other side of the restaurant. Jahrein could tell that I was damn near running from something or someone.
“What’s going on?” he asked me as he stood up so that I could slide back in the booth.
I started to lie but I needed him to be alert just in case some shit popped off.
“I saw Khalil and I was just trying to avoid any confusion.” I told him half the truth.
“Did he say anything to you?” Jahrein asked me.
“No.” I lied.
“Where the fuck is that bitch ass nigga?” he turned to look behind him.
“On the other side. Baby, let's just eat and chill. If he don’t say nothing, you don’t say nothing.”
Jahrein nodded as he bit into his shrimp. “You sure he didn’t say nothing?” he asked in between bites.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” I lied, as I kissed his right cheek.
We were able to eat the remainder of our lunch in peace.
Michelle and Joy both laughed with Jahrein.
They knew that his ass would pick up the tab.
He held my hand as we exited the restaurant.
I don’t know if they purposely waited until we were leaving but Khalil and his boy decided to leave at the same time.
He and Jahrein hadn’t been that close without exchanging blows.
Since Khalil was older I was praying that he’d be the bigger person and just keep it moving.
“Niggas always handcuffing hoes. Raven, you make sure to call me and let me know about the baby.” Khalil spoke arrogantly.
I knew this nigga was trying to pull Jahrein’s card.
“She aint got to call you for shit, nigga.” Jahrein fumed.
“Come on, baby.” I tried to pull Jahrein away from the scene.
“Yeah, Jahrein don’t even entertain that.” Michelle added.
“Bitch, you mind your business.” Khalil said to Michelle. “And you’s a stupid ass nigga if you think that that baby is yours." he blasted.
“Nigga, you got me fucked up! This aint your baby!” I yelled. He took me off my mark with that one.
Jahrein peered around and saw a few police patrol cars driving around and so did I. “Come on, Raven. Fuck what he talking about. You was pregnant before you even moved out and that nigga heard me say that.” Jahrein said as he pulled me away.
“You can have the stupid bitch, anyway. She aint about shit, really. Just another money hungry slut and she don’t even suck dick!” Khalil shouted.
I just shook my head. How juvenile could he be?
He was making a complete fool of himself, and it was obvious that he was mad because he couldn’t have me.
He thought that he was getting to us, but the joke was on him.
He’d dished out plenty of money and I never had to do shit for it.
He thought that I was the too cute type to actually give some head, when my husband knew that my mouth stayed full with his dick.
“Raven, get in your truck and I’ll follow you until we can find somewhere to park it.” Jahrein instructed me. “I don’t trust that nigga.”
“Okay.”
