Chapter ten
Davey walked in the front door and kicked off his boots. “Hey.”
“Yeah, hey.”
Tyler watched Davey trudge across the living room and plop down on the couch beside him.
He ran his hands over his face, and Tyler couldn’t help admiring his long, nimble fingers.
Davey looked downright tired though, the last few days taking their toll.
Tyler sucked at the inside of his cheek and scrunched up his face into a pucker, thinking about what he wanted to say.
Davey turned and touched Tyler’s chin. “I sent that box back.”
“Figured.”
“Can’t let him think he’s getting anywhere. He’s not getting to Bryce through you or anyone else on our team.”
“I know.”
Davey leaned back and closed his eyes. “I don’t know what to do.” He sounded so exasperated.
“There’s nothing to do, Davey.”
“I feel like there is. Maybe, I just have a need to do something. I mean. That’s kind of how I’m wired. You know?”
Tyler scooted closer and put his hand on Davey’s thigh. “I know.”
leaned back, dragging his hand reluctantly away from Davey’s leg. “I know that. You’re very competitive. Just like the rest of them. So...”
Davey chuckled a little. “I thought of a million things to say to you while I was driving home. Sitting here now, though? I’ve got nothing.”
Tyler bumped his shoulder against Davey’s. “Okay, then let me go first.”
“Okay.”
“Peri is like you. No losing. It’s eating him up that he can’t give Bryce an offer.
They’re not listening to him at all, right?
He’s going to try everything to get some attention.
So, maybe I was nice. I’m nice to everyone, but he doesn’t know that.
So he thought he could maybe get to Bryce through me. ”
“He was wrong.”
“Yeah, but he didn’t know that. He had to try. You’re the same. I mean, think about Rico. You gonna tell me that if he doesn’t call, if he says no, that you’re just walking away? I don’t think you will. You’ll try something else. You don’t want to lose. So it’s the same thing with Peri.”
“Yeah. That’s true.” Davey didn’t sound thrilled about any of it.
“For what it’s worth, I am sorry about my part in it. You’re right. I was probably too nice to the guy, especially since he’s the competition.”
“It’s more than that.”
“Okay.”
“If I bring Rico on the team. Or someone like Rico...and you keep up your love me–love me routine...”
Tyler burst out laughing, grabbing his sides and falling on the floor, not listening to whether Davey had anything else to say.
“Stop...Ty....” It only took a minute before Davey was laughing, too.
They laughed together and it felt like that cold hole in Tyler’s chest had warmed up some. When he could talk without gasping, he crawled over to Davey, hanging onto his knees. “Hey. It’s still Christmas. Let’s light up the tree and snuggle.”
“It’s not dark yet.”
“So? Come on.”
Davey turned on the tree, and Tyler pulled out a blanket. “Hey, Davey. When the sun goes down, let’s light a fire.”
“Okay.” He grabbed one end of the blanket and edged beneath it.
Tyler couldn’t help snuggling in close, rubbing his nose against Davey.
“Ty? Can I say something without you getting mad?”
“Of course.” Tyler sat up a little, propped up on an elbow.
“You kind of stink. Go take a shower.”
Tyler laughed and popped Davey on the arm. He had forgotten to shower after all the emotional discussions of the day, and he felt drained from it, too. “Great idea. Join me?”
“I’ve already had my shower.”
“When’s that ever stopped you? Damn, you’re getting to be as bad as Janie.”
“Huh?”
“Never mind. She says Merry Christmas, by the way. Let’s shower.”
They ambled down the hall, stripping as they went. Davey leaned up against Tyler’s backside as he turned the water on. “I still want to fuck you just as much as I did that first time I ever saw you.”
“That was awesome.”
“You were awesome. You still are. You know that, right?”
Tyler turned in his arms so he could see Davey’s face. He ran his fingers over the scruff along his jaw. “I do. I love you.”
“Love you, too.” Davey leaned in and took Tyler’s lips with his own and slid his tongue between them.
Tyler closed his eyes and let him deepen the kiss, their tongues dueling until Davey pulled back.
He opened his eyes at the loss of heat between them, but Davey had only leaned over to grab the shower gel.
He lathered up his hands and rubbed them over Tyler’s shoulders and chest. “Turn.” Tyler obeyed, and Davey soaped up his back, ass, and thighs. “You’re so fucking sexy. All these curvy muscles.”
“Bulging.”
“What?”
“The word you want is bulging. I have bulging muscles.”
Davey laughed and swatted him on the ass. “I’ll tell you what’s bulging.” He pressed his cock up against Tyler’s ass. Tyler wiggled. “You better only be movin’ like that for me.”
“You know it.”
Davey’s fingers trailed down his crack, and Tyler pushed his ass out, giving him more access. Davey took it, sliding his fingers between Tyler’s cheeks. He kissed Tyler’s neck and shoulders and wrapped an arm around his chest as he continued exploring.
Tyler reached out to the shelf in the corner of the shower, grabbing the waterproof lube and pumping a few shots in his hand. He rubbed his fingers in it and then reached around to slick up his hole.
“So sexy,” Davey moaned softly.
Tyler twisted around so he could see Davey and grab him, adding lube to his cock, too. He moaned louder as Tyler gave him a few pumps. He had to grab his own cock then, to keep from exploding just from the noises Davey was making alone.
Davey grabbed Tyler’s hips and turned him around.
Tyler leaned forward, his hands against the tiles on either side of the shower lever, and after a little maneuvering around, Davey pushed the head of his cock through the ring of muscles controlling Tyler’s hole.
Davey tugged at his hips, getting a better angle.
Hot water cascaded over Tyler’s shoulder and back.
Davey thrust his hips back and forth, a little faster.
Tyler grunted with each push in, but it still wasn’t enough. “Give me more, Davey. More.”
Davey listened, pivoting his hips and sliding his cock in and out. “Your hole is so perfect. Gripping me. Uh...so tight.”
“Gah...Davey.” He was never happier than when Davey’s thick cock was inside him, marking him, owning him. Proving that he was good enough.
Good enough.
Tyler realized at that moment with Davey filling him up with more than just his cock, but with his love and desire that he had been looking for that all along. That maybe Janie had been right.
He tried to shove the thoughts down and concentrate on Davey and what he was feeling in the moment, but he couldn’t.
This was so much bigger than he’d thought.
This was something vital about himself that he’d never known.
Never realized. Or maybe he had known to some degree but had never wanted to admit it.
“Stop. Davey. Stop.” He couldn’t keep going with all the thoughts overwhelming him.
“What? Did I hurt you? What’s wrong?” Davey pulled out and stepped back, giving Tyler room to straighten up.
He turned off the water and stepped out of the tub. “I’m not hurt, but uh...we need to talk.”
“Talk? We were just making love. Making it pretty damn good, too.”
Tyler handed him a big towel. He needed Davey to understand what he was going through. “I know, but I had a thought and—”
“Hope that thought was about a better position...”
“No. It’s not really about sex. It’s me.”
Davey followed him into the bedroom, drying off as he went. “That sounds like a break-up line, Tyler. You better explain, quick.”
“Oh God, no.” Tyler tossed his towel over the chair by the closet and grabbed Davey’s favorite Superman t-shirt. He pulled it over his head before searching for boxers.
“You’re getting dressed?”
“Just a little.”
Davey sat on the bed, not bothering with clothes. He was dressed enough with the scowl he had on his face and his now flagging cock. “Tyler? You’re scaring the shit out of me right now.”
He sat next to Davey and grabbed his hand. “No, no. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. It’s just this is important and, uh...it’s kind of hard for me to talk about.”
Davey pulled Tyler up in his arms and half on his lap. “You can always talk to me about anything. You know that, right?”
“Of course. That’s why we’re going to talk now. I haven’t been holding it back, I just now figured it out.”
“In the shower?”
“Yeah. In the shower with you fucking me.”
Davey kissed the side of his face. “You’re fucking crazy.”
“I know.”
Davey kissed his lips, gently, and then his nose. “So, tell me.”
“I talked to Janie earlier today.”
“So you said.” The corner of his lip quirked up. “Sort of.”
“Yeah. Well. While we were in the shower, I was thinking about how good it all felt. How good you made me feel. Davey, you make me feel like I’m worth something.”
“You are.” His eyebrows dipped down in a worried expression.
“I know. Here.” He tapped his head. “But not always here.” He placed Davey’s hand on his own heart.
Davey opened his mouth to speak, and Tyler was pretty sure it was a protest of sorts, but he didn’t let Davey say any of it.
“Just hear me out. Uh...you know, I told you my dad left us when I was young. I never knew him.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. So, I guess you’re right. I do want everyone to like me. It’s maybe like overcompensating or something. I don’t know. But my psyche needs to know that I’m good enough. That you like me and love me enough to stay. That everyone likes me enough to stick around. That if I’m good enough...”
“I get it.” He pulled Tyler closer, hugging him tighter until Tyler was straddling his lap.
“I honestly didn’t realize it, Davey. When Janie said that to me today, I didn’t really believe her.
It’s like my head knows...I know. It’s stupid.
I don’t have to have everyone like me. I know you love me.
But underneath, there’s doubt. Always doubt.
” Tyler kissed between Davey’s worried brows.
“Except when we make love. When you’re inside me, Davey, every part of me knows. ”
Davey kissed him then, long and hard, owning his mouth and soul along with it.
