Chapter 23
CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE
Dear Baby,
I am now 17 weeks pregnant and you are the size of a pear. I have had to buy some new clothes to fit my growing belly. In only three weeks I’ll get to see you again, make sure you are growing well and that all your organs look healthy.
Something funny happened yesterday. I was on the phone to Penny, your aunt, and telling her… how can I say it? How ‘gassy’ I was feeling. That I kept feeling these little bubbles inside like gas and it was starting to increase. ‘That’s not gas, Lacie, that’s your baby moving around!’ she said. ‘What?’ I replied. But it feels like gas bubbles.’ ‘That’s how it feels at first,’ she told me. I couldn’t believe it. I thought I had gas but it’s just been you! LOL. That means laugh out loud. And now that I know, I’ve been paying more attention, and today, there was a definite movement, like a kick or a roll or something, that felt different to gas, and it made me smile so much. To know you’re in there, moving about, growing bigger. What an amazing sensation it is. I wanted to write it down so I wouldn’t forget. One day you might read this and have a giggle.
So as I lay here in bed, I’m on the alert waiting for more movements. I know they’ll start increasing and maybe down the track they might even wake me up, but that’s okay. It’s all okay. I’m going with the flow and enjoying every moment as it comes lately. The future will unfold how it will, but now, the present, is a real gift to be enjoyed.
Love, Mum xo
