CHAPTER 7
HONOR
My day had started off beautifully. Breakfast with my boys then a day of fun at the garden centre with Angel, Siera, and the girls.
Until I’d met them all, I hadn’t realised how lonely I’d been.
Angel was so happy to get to know me and soaked up every hour that we spent together.
I’m thrilled to get to know her. She holds a lot of guilt for giving me up.
We had an uncomfortable conversation about it, and I’m sure it won’t be the last one.
She is a good person with a soft heart. She would have made a phenomenal mother, and I am sad for her, that she hadn’t got to be one.
For two years I’d been aimlessly wandering around the country, until I’d landed here. I knew deep within my soul that I was home. I wouldn’t be leaving.
I’d fallen in love at first sight with two little boys that owned my heart from the first “Mine.”
And hopefully after tonight, I will put their father’s mind at ease, that I am the right woman for him. Then, we can get on with making more baby Spooks, because damn not only is the man FINE! He is also an amazing father.
Every time I see him with Mason and Reed, my heart is filled with so much joy, I think it might burst from my chest.
That is just my heart. Let’s not mention the other bits of me that stand up and take notice.
I’m not sure he realises how attractive he is while caring for them. So many times, I’d had to hold myself back from jumping his bones.
To hell with his weeklong rule.
But I’d held myself back. Now, I don't need to anymore.
Dinner was tough. I’m not sure how I stopped myself from crawling across the breakfast counter.
He seems totally oblivious to how he affects me.
And everything he does sends tremors of want and need flooding through me.
The way the muscles in his arms bunch with every forkful.
The way his throat moves when he takes a sip of beer.
The way he gives me his full attention when he asks me a question.
To say my panties are damp is an understatement.
That could have been what made my sassy side appear when I left him in the kitchen. I’ve never been so horny in my life. The man is testing my patience.
This talk better go quickly or I am taking over.
I set my wine glass down on the coffee table. Taking a seat on the couch, I tuck my legs under me and wait.
Spook doesn’t keep me waiting for long. His eyes smoulder with banked desire as he approaches. Good. Glad I’m not the only one feeling it.
My eyes track his every move as he puts his beer on the table. I don’t expect him to, but he reaches over and scoops me up, as he sits on the couch moving me to sit astride him. I don’t hate it though.
In fact, I love it. Especially when I feel the hard ridge of his cock pressed against my aching core. I’m all for this position. Involuntarily, I grind down. He fits his hands to my hips. Gripping them tight to stop my movement.
Spook’s shoulders shake, and I lift my eyes to his amused ones. “We’ll get there, baby,” he promises when I huff out a frustrated breath. “Soon. I promise. But first, have you thought about what I said? What I’ll need from you?”
I think back to his conversation from the first day, and all that he laid out. What he would need from me.
‘I’m possessive, baby. I’ll want to know where you are, who you’re with, what you’re doing. I know too well the dangers of this world. I’ll be so far up your ass you’ll barely have time to breathe. I’m giving you this one chance. A week to make sure this is what you want.’
Lifting my hands from where they rest on his shoulders, I cup his cheeks, focusing my attention on him. He’s a protector, my man. I understand his need to control his environment, as much as he can, when it comes to those he loves. My dad was the same.
“Honey,” I brush my lips against the corner of his mouth. “I understand what you need. You think what you’re demanding is going to freak me out. But…” I lean forward and rest my forehead to his. “You forget, I grew up with a man just like you.”
Easing back, I tell him. “You needing to know where I am doesn’t bother me.
I know it’s not about control. It’s because you have an intrinsic need to keep the people you care about safe.
I can do that when it comes to my or the boy's safety. You need me to wear a tracker. I can do that. It doesn’t bother me.
I’ll give you whatever you need to ease your mind. ”
Spook goes to speak.
I hold up my hand. “Not finished yet, honey.” He closes his mouth with a snap, but I know he’s not mad because his lips curl up at the corners.
“I need you to understand something though. My dad, he made sure my mom and I could protect ourselves. He often worked in the grey, so he knew what the dangers of the world were, and he made sure his girls could protect themselves if needed. I’m telling you this to put your mind at ease.
You’re welcome to put me to the test. I’m not saying I can take down a fully grown, pissed off man, but I can do some damage.
And if you want to see how well I can shoot, we can do that too. Whatever you need.”
He closes his eyes for a minute, and when he opens them the sheer relief in his gaze makes my stomach clench.
“Thank you for giving me that, baby. I’ll try not to be too controlling, but I also know that you’ll push back if I overstep.
We’ll put you through your paces another day.
Tomorrow, I asked Maverick to call church so the brothers can vote on you becoming my Ol’ Lady.
” My breath hitches, and I smile. Happiness bubbles through me.
Spook returns my smile, his hands lifting to my face, and he cups my cheeks.
“I see that makes you happy. Can’t fucking wait to see you with my name on your back. ”
“Can’t wait either, honey.” I whisper. A shiver runs through me when he demandingly growls.
“Want your mouth on mine.”
I don’t hesitate, leaning forward, I place my lips on his. Happy for him to take what he needs.
Holy fuck, my man can kiss.
