Chapter 5 The Second Prince’s Blindness
Six days remained until I had to reply to the Emperor.
I went to see the Second Prince.
Chief Eunuch Su had served by the Emperor's side for so many years.
He could read the Emperor's mood from the slightest hint.
The Second Prince, Jing Can.
Of the three princes, he had taken the fewest wives.
Last year he went traveling and came back with an extra girl by his side.
At first glance she looked like the kind of chivalrous heroine my mother used to describe.
She wore a purple robe.
I was a little curious and looked at her a few more times.
Jing Can frowned. "Cui Qingyi, what kind of look is that? I'm only treating Siwan as a younger sister. You don't need to overthink it."
Huh?
I wasn't overthinking anything.
Before I could speak, Jiang Siwan snorted first.
"Jing Can, I didn't come back with you to hear you coax one sister after another. We still have important things to do."
Sigh.
I took a deep breath.
I steeled myself before slowly stepping into the Second Prince's residence.
Jing Can wasn't there.
Jiang Siwan was practicing sword forms in the courtyard.
When she saw me, she sheathed her sword. Her tone was unfriendly. "What are you here for?"
I couldn't be bothered to talk to her and turned to leave.
Her sword suddenly thrust toward me.
I dodged while drawing the soft whip at my waist.
Before I could swing it, Jiang Siwan fell over.
That was when Jing Can suddenly appeared. His voice shook my ears.
"Cui Qingyi! What are you doing!"
"Siwan was only playing with you. Did you have to use a whip!"
This was His Majesty's second son.
Stone blind.
