CHAPTER 18
WREN

“Are you ready to go?”
I turn at the sound of Alex’s voice and see him stepping into my home. “As ready as I can be,”
I murmur. “Were you able to take care of those videos?”
“Yeah, they’re all taken down and I got names on at least ten of the vampires that assaulted her.”
“Good, I want the names.”
“Already emailed them to you.”
He raises an eyebrow at me, and I look at him confused. “You look good,”
he chuckles.
I glance down at myself, thrown off by his comment. “I wear shit like this all the time.”
“That colour looks good on you though. I never pegged you for someone to like purple.”
I glare at him as I roll up the sleeves on the dress shirt and grab my wallet. “It’s dark purple. It’ll probably look black in the club.”
I brush my fingers along the front of it and smirk to myself. I’ve actually always loved purple. It’s an underrated colour in my opinion. I grab a set of keys from the drawer and toss them to Alex. “You’re driving.”
He glances down at them and lets out a laugh. “Wow, now you’re just being a dick. You want to take the Porsche 911? Seriously?”
“Why not?”
“Hey, man, it’s your car, but are you sure you don’t want to drive?”
“I don’t know where Chess lives, Alex.”
“Oh…right. Yeah, about that…”
“What?”
“Taking a Porsche into that part of town is definitely going to draw attention.”
“What?”
“She’s in the lower district. Kalden Town.”
My eyes widen, and I’m riddled with even more guilt at the thought she lives there of all places. She could get killed just walking down the street. “We’re still taking the Porsche,”
I say bluntly.
“Alright,”
he snorts. I follow him out and hop on the elevator with him. He keeps stealing glances at me and finally I turn to him fully and glare at him. “Sorry,”
he laughs.
“What is with you?”
“I think this entire situation is comical actually. The fact you of all people, are going to a club…Syringe for that matter, because of a human girl.”
“I’m not going to do anything, Alex. I’m just chaperoning the two of you.”
“Do you think we’re not capable of taking care of ourselves?”
He says slyly.
“I’m sure you both are, but I need a night out anyways.”
“Maybe you’ll meet someone there who wants to have a good time.”
“Doubtful,” I murmur.
“I think you need to get laid.”
“I fucked Erin yesterday, I think I’m fine.”
“Was that really enough for you? You seemed more pissed off after the whole thing.”
“Because I was interrupted.”
“Really? It looked like you came.”
“Can we not talk about this. My sex life is none of your concern.”
“It is when you’re acting like a cunt to everyone around you. I think you need to find someone you actually want to fuck, since Erin clearly didn’t do it for you.”
“There’s no one I want to fuck, Alex.”
“Hmm, that might change tonight.”
“Maybe you’re the one that needs a good fuck.”
“I’m doing just fine, thank you.”
“Are you and Adrian exclusive then?”
He shrugs his shoulders and turns away from me. “Not really. Adrian isn’t the relationship type anyways, and I still enjoy my fun with women as well.”
When I found out about him and Adrian having relations, I was a bit surprised. I knew Alex was bi, but I never expected him to go for Adrian…he’s an asshole. I have no idea what he sees in him, so he must be a good fuck for Alex to keep going back to him.
He skips out of the elevator and practically jumps into the driver seat of my car. He smiles over at me when I slide into the passenger seat, and I roll my eyes at him. “Are you enjoying yourself?” I laugh.
“I am! You never let me drive your cars.”
“You never ask to drive my cars though.”
“Because I never thought you would let me drive them.”
“We’re going to be late,” I sigh.
“Do you want me to text her, or do you want to?”
“I’ll text her.”
“Are you going to tell her you’re going?”
“Why would I tell her,”
I grumble.
“She’s going to be so pissed off if you just show up there.”
“If I tell her, I guarantee you she’s going to insist on driving herself again.”
“You need to stop doing this, Wren.”
“Just fucking drive.”
