Chapter 5 Turn Around
I could tell Zhou Muyan liked this Child.
That put me at ease.
I opened my phone and started searching for tickets home.
I meant to keep myself busy so I would not spiral.
But with the phone open, I could not take in a single word.
I had not walked far when I ran into someone.
“Miss, are you all right?”
The person I had bumped into asked.
I lifted my head and saw a familiar face.
If I remembered right, she was the girlfriend reported in the news, Zhou Muyan’s girlfriend Huang Yuwei.
I waved in a fluster. “I am fine. Sorry.”
I tried to leave, but Huang Yuwei caught my arm.
“I just saw you come from that way. Can I ask you something? Is that the pediatric inpatient wing?”
I froze.
She wanted to go to the pediatric wing. Was she going to see Xie Mingming?
I could not help looking her over.
Huang Yuwei was very pretty. She looked soft and gentle, without much edge.
In one hand she held a fruit basket. In the other, a children’s Lego set.
That was why, when I hit her, she had not managed to dodge in time.
I was about to answer when Zhou Muyan’s voice suddenly came from behind me.
“Huang Yuwei.”
My back went stiff.
Huang Yuwei looked up with a smile, stepped past me, and walked toward Zhou Muyan.
“This Hospital is huge. I nearly got lost walking in circles.”
Zhou Muyan answered lightly, then asked, “Who were you talking to?”
I did not know if it was my imagination, but I kept feeling a gaze fixed on my back.
Huang Yuwei answered as if nothing was wrong. “Oh. Just a passerby. She bumped into me just now.”
I let out a breath and only wanted to get away fast.
But Zhou Muyan spoke again. “You. Turn around.”
There was no question. That line was for me.
Huang Yuwei seemed to sense something too and hurried to stop him.
“Zhou Muyan, what are you doing? She is only a passerby. Besides, she did not hurt me. Drop it. Do not make a fuss.”
So it seemed Zhou Muyan was worried I had hurt his girlfriend.
I could not help finding my own reaction a little ridiculous.
Five years. No one stayed in the same place.
What exactly was I still afraid of?
I turned around slowly and apologized to Huang Yuwei again.
The whole time, Zhou Muyan stared hard at me and did not say a word.
