12. - – Kabrina
CHAPTER TWELVE
-
KAbrINA
I hop in my car, and I'm trying not to have a panic attack.
I feel my hands shaking and my heart rate picking up as I sit here getting ready to dispose of my boyfriend's, excuse me, ex-boyfriend's body.
I take a moment to ground myself and pick five things I can see, four things I can feel, three things I can hear, two things I can smell, and one thing I can taste before I put the car into reverse to pull out of my driveway.
I follow behind Amari until we are approaching a farm, the same distance away that he said. I can see a man outside waiting for us. He appears to be the same age as Amari and built similarly. Once I park the cars, I can see him waving with a smile on his face.
“It's been a little bit since I saw you last. I'm so happy we've kept in touch,” he says to Amari.
“Same. This is Kabrina. Kabrina, this is Mikey,” he says, placing a hand along my back.
“It’s nice to meet you. Amari has talked about you for years and how you got him a lesser sentence. Once he got out, he noticed all the damage this scumbag did to you, and I've been happy to help with getting rid of him.”
“Thanks,” I say in a low tone, looking down at my feet.
“Let's get things started. I can help Amari lift the body. Kabrina, if you can take the truck to that open area over there, you will take gasoline and a match and set it on fire and let it burn,” Mikey says.
The plan seems simple enough, so I do as he says and set the truck on fire.
Once it’s burning, I decide to meet the guys over near the pigs.
I want to throw up when I see them using a chainsaw to break Alexander’s body up into pieces and throw it to the pigs.
I don’t know why I feel queasy all of a sudden, when I’ve been participating in this for hours now.
Once they are done with getting the body fed to the pigs, Mikey comes over.
“There are two outside showers with everything you need in them. Y'all both need to go rinse off completely. There's a change of clothes for both of you over there. Once you're done, we're going to set the clothes and rug on fire,” he says.
We nod in agreement and make our way over to the showers. We do as he says and put the clothes in the burner, so all evidence is destroyed. From what I can tell, the truck has burned to the point where it’s unrecognizable as well.
“Thank you for all your help, Mikey. We need to come over for dinner one day, as long as it’s not pork,” Amari says with a laugh.
“Definitely. Let's plan something this week. Kabrina, you're welcome to come if you would like.”
“Thank you. We will definitely see you then,” I say as a sense of relief washes over me.
We head back to my car, and I notice it has been wiped down, so there's no blood left.
As we make our way back to the house, we ride in silence because I'm at a loss for words for what happened tonight.
Dread fills my mind because I know we're going to have to clean everything up when we get back, but I don't have the motivation to do it.
After the twenty-minute drive back to the house, I invite Amari in so I'm not alone. The site in front of me shocks me. Everything is cleaned up, and it looks like nothing ever happened here. I head out into the garage and see the same thing there. Everything is clean.
“Did you do this?” I ask Amari.
“I did. You're safe now, my sweet girl.” He says as he kisses my forehead.
