31. Rosama
Rosama
Iwoke up the next morning with Nylah lying beside me, and for the first time since all that shit happened, I didn’t wake up with a lot on my mind.
I just lay there lookin at her, watching her sleep, and thinking bout how much I missed her ass with me.
It was crazy to think that I could deal with the whole Brooklyn being against me, but not her.
But after I walked up on her ass and showed her I wasn’t the nigga to play with like that, her forgiving me made my day, but she let me know that getting back in her good graces was not gonna be an easy task, but I was up for the challenge, and I was cool with that, as long as she was back with me I didn’t care about anything else.
As she lay next to me, I reached ova and moved a piece of hair away from her face. She shifted a lil’ before opening her eyes. Nylah looked at me for a second before smiling, and that lil’ smile had me smiling back. I used to think Mariah was my soulmate, then wondered why I stopped loving her.
Nylah was why.
The way she looked at me was different, different from any otha time. I went from feeling like I was walking through a minefield, and one wrong word could have sent me back to fighting for her to talk to me again, to us smiling, kissing, and laughing together again.
That shit felt normal. It felt like us. I pulled her closer, and she rested her head against my chest. I could have stayed right there all morning if I didn’t have shit to handle.
We spent most of the morning together, taking our time and enjoying each otha without talking about all the bullshit that happened.
I ordered breakfast. We ate it in bed while watching some random shit play on the TV.
Nylah was laughing at something on the screen while I was barely paying attention because I was too busy watching her.
She caught me staring at her a few times and smiled but didn’t say anything.
I liked that. I liked that she was back to herself.
There wasn’t any tension hanging ova us, and I was gonna make sure it wasn’t gonna come back.
By mid-afternoon, we had taken a shower, and she was going through my closet, looking for an outfit that she had left ova, when she started yelling at me that I had moved her shit. I sat on the edge of the bed, watching her and laughing because if I had missed anything, it was her damn mouth.
As she found what she was looking for, I checked my phone and saw I had a few missed calls from Dre and a message.
Dre: Money pickup.
I read the message, then looked back at Nylah as she stood there holding the outfit that she had been looking for. I smirked to myself before locking my phone.
“I gotta step out real quick,” I said, getting up to get myself together.
“For what?” she asked.
“Pick up some money. I will be back in a few. Don’t worry.”
She nodded and went back doing what she was doing.
Once I got my shit together, I grabbed my keys, kissed her, and slid out the crib, feeling like a new nigga.
When I pulled up, Dre was sitting on the steps with a blunt in one hand and a drink in the otha.
“Business must have been good this week,” I stated, getting out the whip.
Dre nodded. “Betta than, my nigga, we up there.”
I walked ova and dapped him up. “That’s the shit I like to hear.”
We walked inside. I dapped up the niggas around the room, even Brandon's sick-looking ass, and followed Dre back to the bedroom.
The money was sitting in duffle bags ready to go. I looked ova everything with my hands itching.
“You counted it out?” I asked.
“Fa sho, I got my cut, paid them niggas out there; this all yours.”
I nodded; that’s what the fuck I liked to hear.
“What else?” I asked, ready to take care of whatever needed to be fixed.
“Ain’t shit to be needed, nigga,” Dre said with confidence. “Guns and work is movin’, the workers are not causing an issue, everything is smooth sailing right now, right before ya big birthday party.”
I agreed.
“And I got my girl back,” I said, hitting Dre in the chest.
That nigga started clapping.
“You pulled up on her the otha day, huh?”
I laughed. “I did, once you told me you saw her walking in there—”
“That was all it took, huh?” he asked, cutting me off.
“Yessir, I was ready to act a damn fool ova that girl.”
“That’s good and all, but what about your wife?”
I sucked my teeth. “Nigga, why you always gotta bring her up?!”
Dre laughed. “’Cause, nigga, you ova here tryna start a life with Ms. Nylah when you have a whole marriage to tie up.”
That nigga wasn’t wrong, but I didn’t want to hear that shit.
“I tried to talk to the bitch calmly… She’s crazy. That’s not a type of crazy I can talk to.”
“So Plan B has turned into Plan A now?”
I nodded. “It sure did. And I really don’t give a fuck.”
I grabbed the duffel bags and walked outta the room with Dre right behind me. We walked out to my car, and he kept watch while I loaded the bags in my trunk. When I was done, I closed the hood and dapped my nigga up.
“Thanks for keeping business movin', my nigga. I’ma lock back in after the Bday.”
“It ain’t shit, nigga. What you finna do?”
I walked ova to the driver’s door and opened it. “I’ma take my girl out. I'm still makin’ up.”
Dre laughed. “Say less, my guy.”
Dre walked back to the steps as I pulled off. I was about to head back to the crib and lay up with my shorty when I thought of a different plan.
I drove out to SoHo, went to the Dior store, picked Nylah up something, then stopped and got some flowers on my way home.
When I walked inside, she ran up to me and greeted me with a hug and a kiss.
“You good?” I asked her.
She nodded. “Yeah, just…glad you're back.”
I smiled as I handed her the flowers first. “These are for you.”
She took the flowers from me and smelled them.
“Thank you, boo.”
I nodded and pulled the other bags from behind my back. “Here, take this and go get dressed.”
She tilted her head with a smirk. “Rosama, what is this?”
I walked past her to the couch. “Just a lil’ somethin from ya man. Go put that shit on.”
Without another word, Nylah walked off to the bedroom while I sat there and made a reservation. Once that was set, I got up and went into my other bedroom and pulled out something all black to wear.
I took a shower, lined myself up, got dressed, and walked out with just enough time to see my bedroom door open and for her to walk out.
“Wow,” I said, speechless.
I picked out a long, fitted red cotton skirt and a red top that pushed her up and out just right, with heels to match.
“What you say wow fa?” she asked playfully.
I smirked. “Because my girl looks fine as hell.”
I took her hand and spun her around in a circle, then pulled her into me.
“You ready?” I asked.
She smiled. “Let’s do it.”
I took Nylah’s hand and led her out to the whip and helped her in.
I slid into the driver’s seat and glanced over at her as she fixed her top. The soft scent of whatever she had on filled the car, and I just sat there for a second.
“You gonna keep staring or we leavin'?” she asked.
I smirked and started the car. “I'm driving.”
She laughed under her breath and leaned back in the seat while I pulled off. The ride was smooth, not too much talking, just her playing with the radio and me glancing ova every now and then, still taking her in.
I pulled up to the spot and got out, then walked around to her side before opening the door.
She stepped out, fixing her skirt again, and I took her hand and led her inside.
Heads turned a lil’, but I didn’t pay it no mind.
I already knew she looked good; then you put us together, and we were a toxic ass match.
We got seated in a booth and sat close together, ordered our food, then ignored the whole room.
We talked about random shit, laughed, and I continued to remind her I wasn’t playing bout her or us.
At some point, she leaned back and looked me up and down with a smirk. “I like this version of Rosama.”
I raised a brow. “This version? What is different about me?”
“Yeah, you seem like you know what you want.”
I nodded. “I knew what I wanted since I told you that. That otha shit was…a misunderstanding.”
She held my gaze for a second, then nodded like she was accepting that, even if she was still thinking bout it.
We ate our food, but took our time leaving; neither one of us wanted to rush the moment.
When we got back in the car, she kicked her heels off, tucked her legs up, and turned slightly toward me.
“You comin’ back home with me, or you goin’ to your crib?” I asked.
She smirked at me. “I'm goin’ home with you.”
I nodded and placed my hand on her thigh.
When we got back to the crib, I grabbed the duffle bags outta the trunk and carried them inside and tossed them on the floor.
The night had settled in, and I was low-key tired.
I kicked my shoes off as I sat on the couch and watched her for a second as she set her heels down and walked toward the kitchen.
She came back out with a bottle of water and lay against me.
“Me and the girls gonna get cute before ya party.”
I nodded. “I can’t wait to see you.”
“You not gonna show out, are you? Have a section full of bitches and shit?”
I laughed. “Girl, hell nah. The only thing I’ma be worried about is when we can leave so you can show me that birthday cake.”
As I rubbed my shorty’s thigh while sitting in my crib, I felt good—everything was good.
My money was long, my dick big, my shorty was beside me, and that nigga Blaze was out the way for the first time in a lil’ min. My plate wasn’t full. Mariah wasn’t even a problem because…I was gonna make myself a widow.
