Nylah

While the calls and texts slowed down from Rosama, nothing else did.

He made sure I had the key to get my fabric. He sent me flowers, lunch to work, and dinner at home. While I was in school, I was getting notifications that bills were paid that I knew I didn’t pay.

Every now and then, he would send me a message telling me he missed me. I would look at it and smile and not text him back.

I wanted him to miss me and know he shouldn’t have even tried me, and by the gifts I was getting, I think he was catching the point.

That didn’t mean I didn’t miss him, ‘cause I did. If I wasn’t at school or work, I was at home, and I was bored as hell.

It was a Saturday, and I had just finished cleaning my place when I heard banging at my door. When I went to it, I was expecting to cuss somebody out, but when I opened it, my girls rushed in.

“What the hell you doin’ today?” Denise asked.

I looked down at myself, standing there in booty shorts, a crop top, and footies.

“Um, nothin’, I'm chillin’.”

They all shook their heads.

“Nope, we are going to a day party,” Ari said.

“A day party?” I repeated, folding my arms. “Y’all see me, right?”

Denise rolled her eyes and walked past me like she lived there. “Exactly, that’s why we here. Go put somethin’ on so we can be outside.”

I sucked my teeth but didn’t even argue. This is exactly what I needed.

“Iight,” I said playfully; they already knew I was gonna be down.

“Give me a few.”

I walked into my room, looked through my closet, and pulled out something simple that fit my body right.

An hour later, I was out of the shower and took shots with them while Raven did my hair, and Ari did my makeup.

“Have you talked to Pitbull?” Denie asked.

“She had to; look at all the shit around here,” Ari added.

I laughed. “I haven’t, actually. He texted me he missed me, and I didn’t respond.”

Raven laughed. “How long are you gonna make him sweat?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t know, probably a lil’ bit longer. I'm getting bored and need some dick.”

They laughed as if I was playing, but that was neva the case.

Once my girls were done getting me right, we took one more shot and walked outta my place and hopped in Raven's car.

On the drive there, Denise threw some weed and a leaf at me.

“Roll one up,” she said playfully.

As I ground up the weed, Ari opened the leaf for me just as I looked out the window and saw the sign.

“Man, oh hell no!” I shouted, making the whole car look at me.

“What?” Denise yelled.

“What is it?” Raven shouted, while looking through the rearview mirror.

“brOOKYLN!” I yelled. “We are goin’ to Brooklyn?”

They laughed.

“That’s where the party is,” Ari said, passing the leaf back to me.

I shook my head. “I should have stayed home. Rosama is goin’ to be there.”

They all sucked their teeth at what sounded like the same time.

“Girl, how the hell you know he is going to be there?” Denise asked.

“Because it is in Brooklyn. That nigga has his hands on anything and everything that has to do with Brooklyn.”

“Don’t think like that,” Raven said.

“And if he is, oh well,” Ari added.

I exhaled. “Yeah…y’all are right.”

After a while, we pulled up to the party, and it was already jumping. The music was loud. There were people everywhere, and the niggas? The niggas were different fonts, shapes, and colors of fine.

Some dark and tall, some light and tall, some short and tatted, some tall and tatted. It was almost like somebody was in the back making them niggas and sending them out, and me and my girls wasn’t mad at all.

“I am so glad I told my nigga not to come,” Denise said.

“Facts, I told mine I would send him some pictures tho,” Ari chimed in.

“Come on,” I said loudly, trying to overtalk the music. “Let’s go get a drink.”

I locked arms and moved through the crowd of people and made it to the bar. Raven ordered all of us some drinks while Ari cleaned a table for us.

As I was helping Raven with the drinks, this nigga at the bar caught my eye.

“Raven, take these. I’ll be there in a few.”

Raven saw what I saw and gave me a wink as she walked off.

As soon as she was away from me, the nigga walked ova to me.

“Wussup, ma?” he said, leaning into my ear.

“Nothin, wussup with you?”

“Shiitt, I'm tryin’ to get to know you.”

I smiled. “Then do that then.”

We went on talking for a few more minutes, nothin personal, just the basic shit: age, job, relationship status. Once all that was out of the way, he leaned into me again.

“Can we dance?”

Without another word, I took his hand, and he led me out to the dance floor.

I wasn’t thinking too deep into it. It was just a dance, but as we moved, I could feel myself loosen up even more.

He felt good against me, and I knew I looked good against him with all the eyes that were on us and the niggas dapping him up.

I was feeling good, enjoying the moment, when the energy changed.

The nigga I was dancing with, Cory, was looking past me at something behind me.

I turned around and looked, and Rosama was standing there. The music stopped, and I stopped dancing, but Cory didn’t move off me as Rosama walked ova.

“I don’t know if she told you, my boy,” Rosama said low. “But she is taken.”

Cory looked at me. “She said she was talkin’ to a nigga, but they were on a break.”

Rosama and I locked eyes, then he looked back at Cory.

“She’s not talkin’ to anybody. She is in a relationship, and WE are not on a break.”

Cory looked at me, and I looked away. I didn’t even know what to say.

“My fault, brah,” Cory said as he walked away.

The music started back up, and Rosama walked ova to me.

“Walk outside,” he whispered with force in my ear.

I looked up at him. “No.”

He yanked me up by my arm and shoved me to the door.

“Girl, walk the fuck outside.”

I rolled my eyes and did what he said and walked past my girls.

“We sorry,” Denise said.

“Yeah, we should have listened,” Raven added.

I walked outside the event, and Rosama stood beside me.

“Did you drive?”

“No,” I responded with an attitude.

“Good, get in my car,” he said as he walked away from me.

I didn’t follow him right away. I just stood there for a second, watching him walk.

“I don’t think I want—”

“Nylah, come get in the fuckin’ car!” he said, through his teeth, with a look in his eye that said he was far from playing.

I followed behind him and walked to his car. Rosama opened the door for me and helped me in like always, but I could tell that nigga was mad.

Once he got in the car, he looked at me before starting it.

“I low-key can’t believe you,” was all he said as he pulled off.

I had to turn to the window to hide my amusement.

It took us about five minutes to get to his house. I didn’t even realize how close we were to his crib. He parked the car and walked around to help me out, keeping the same disappointed look on his face as we walked across the street and inside his place.

“How the fuck you gonna come to my hood and show out like that!” Rosama yelled as he slammed his door shut.

I took a seat on his couch and lit the roach in his ashtray.

“Excuse you?” I said calmly.

“Nigga, you heard me,” he said while he walked around, getting comfortable. “You haven’t been callin’ me, haven’t been texting me. But then my nigga calls and tells me he saw you sliding into the party and shit.”

I rolled my eyes. “And? Nigga, I can do and go whereva the fuck I want.”

“No, the fuck you can’t!” he barked back. “Not when you belong to me, and not in my hood.”

I stood up. “Rosama, fuck you and your hood! You don’t run shit with me, and you fuckin’ cheated! So what the fuck does it matter what I do?”

“Oohhh! I see,” he said as he poured himself a drink. “This is get back—you are playin’ get back.”

I shook my head with a lil’ laugh. “It’s not get back, my luv…I'm just movin’ how you move.”

Rosama palmed his face for a second. “Oh my God. And that’s what I been tryin’ to tell yo’ ass, but you don’t want to listen.

I didn’t fuckin’ cheat on you! Yes, I let shorty talk me into takin’ her to the room.

Yes, I pulled my dick out, and it was in her hand.

But I stopped her, left her on the floor, and came back to you. ”

I rushed ova to him and started punching on him.

“And you feel like that makes it any better?! Because you stopped and came back home to me? Rosama, fuck you for real, yo! I should have paid attention to all the warning signs I had before I started fuckin’ with you for real.”

Rosama caught my hands and locked eyes with me.

“You don’t mean that shit,” he said with a soft, deep tone.

I nodded slowly, trying to keep the tension I had in my body.

“Yes…I…do…Rosama,” I said, getting lost staring into his eyes.

“Tell me this?” he said, licking his lips. “You was gonna give that Harlem nigga my pussy?”

I tilted my head to the side. “How you know that nigga was from Harlem?”

We laughed together.

“’Cause I could tell by how the clown dressed. Now answer my question. You was gonna give that Harlem nigga my pussy?”

I exhaled hard. “Noo,” I said under my breath.

“Huh?” he shot back. “I can’t hear you.”

“No, I wasn’t gonna give that Harlem nigga your pussy.”

“Why not? Because…”

“Because it’s your pussy,” I finished his sentence.

Rosama let go of my hands as he kissed me, and I naturally wrapped them around his neck.

Once we pulled away from each otha, we smiled.

“I am sorry, baby girl. I have played with a lot of bitches, but I neva played about you.”

“Is there anything else you need to tell me, Rosama? Anything else you are hiding from me? This is your chance to tell me now.”

Rosama shook his head as he held on to me tighter.

“No, baby girl, I have nothin’ else to tell you.”

“Because if I forgive you this time, if anything else happens, I promise you I will make your heart hurt.”

He smiled at me. “Princess, it’s nothing I need to tell you. We are locked in.”

I rolled my eyes as we kissed again.

“What happened to Blaze?” I asked him.

He smirked. “What do you think happened to Blaze?”

I laughed, figuring he did that nigga dirty.

“I missed you, though,” he expressed. “Real talk, this shit made me realize how I don’t want to be without you in my life.”

I felt butterflies in my stomach. “And what are you goin’ to do about that?”

Rosama paused for a second before he responded.

“I’ma step correct behind you, no more fuck ups, and that’s my word.”

I nodded, agreeing with him. “You sure are. I don’t care if ya birthday is comin’ up, show me you bout me.”

Rosama took me to his room and catered to me for the rest of the day, and there aren’t enough words to express how much my body missed him.

After he had fucked the shit outta me, and we were layin’ in bed, Rosama pulled me into him.

“Don’t leave me again,” he said through kisses on my neck.

I smiled to myself, feeling like my plan to make him sweat worked. “Don’t give me a reason to then.”
