Chapter 25
It had been hard keeping my secret from Kane.
A week had passed since he’d become president of the Vipers and I’d become the first lady.
There wasn’t anything I had to do, but I wanted to be more involved.
I had some ideas for community events I wanted the club to do.
When I shared them with Kane, he was all for it.
I hadn’t put anything in motion, but I would.
I was sure Carmen and Isis would be willing to help me.
I hadn’t worked at the clubhouse since before everything happened, but I still hung around sometimes.
Drizzle and I had been cordial to each other.
She was just happy that she had been able to get the hours I would have worked.
I knew once Kane found out about the baby, he would definitely stop me from working there.
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my time yet.
I enjoyed not having to work. I didn’t have to pay any bills, so I still had money in the bank.
Kane wouldn’t let me spend my money anyway. I still needed to figure out something.
Since Kane took care of everything, I cooked and cleaned the house.
Anytime he left the house, his balls were empty, and his stomach was full.
Most of the girls that hung around the clubhouse knew he was off-limits, but there was always someone who wanted to test the water.
I wasn’t worried about them, but I also didn’t give him a reason to stray, and vice versa.
“Do we have time to make a stop?” I asked Kane as he drove to wherever we were going.
Now that everything was good, he insisted on taking me on a date. I wasn’t going to turn down the opportunity to get cute and spend some uninterrupted time with him.
“We do. Where were you thinking?” He took his eyes off the road to glance my way.
“Just follow my directions.”
“What are you up to?” He lifted our joined hands and kissed the back of mine.
I had finally thought of a way to tell Kane about the baby. It might not have been the ideal place, but it was important to me.
“Just listen, please.”
“Okay.”
We were in the Bronco because I loved that truck. We could take the bike out any time, but the truck was for special occasions. I’d gotten better at riding his bike, but I wasn’t ready for a long ride yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to stop me from riding once he found out about the baby.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the cemetery. Kane didn’t ask questions; he just shut the truck off, got out, then came around to help me out.
Hand in hand, we walked to my brother’s gravesite. I cleaned off the headstone, then stood in front of it. Kane stood next to me and held my hand.
“Hey, Brother. A lot has happened since you’ve been gone.
You can rest now because the man that killed you is now a bunch of ashes.
I made sure he paid for what he’d done to you.
Don’t be mad at me, but I been hanging around the Vipers, and I even fell in love.
” Tears fell from my eyes as Kane squeezed my hand.
“There’s more.” I paused for a second to gather my emotions.
I never imagined I would be talking to my brother with his body in the grave.
I felt better that Beast was now dead, but I still missed my brother.
I didn’t let the grief take over, though, because I knew Rameek wouldn’t want me crying all the time.
With my free hand, I placed my hand on my stomach. “You are going to be an uncle.”
“What?” Kane questioned from the side of me.
I turned to face him. I cupped his face and stared into his eyes. I loved him so much, and even though I hated the reason behind us meeting, I was glad I met him.
“I’ve been trying to think of a way to tell you, and I figured I’d tell you and the most important person in my life at the same time. I know it’s not the same with him not being here, but my brother was my best friend.”
Kane pulled me into his arms and picked me up. He kissed my face multiple times as he spun me around.
“Are you for real right now? When did you find out?” He placed me back on my feet and put his hand on my stomach.
“Yes, very for real. I found out when the doctor came to the house.”
“You’ve kept this a secret for weeks. Now I know why you weren’t drinking.” He rubbed my stomach again. “Thank you, Munch.” He stepped back a little and looked down at my stomach. “We are going to have a little Viper.”
I giggled as happy tears fell. I wasn’t sure how he would react, but I was glad that he was happy.
Kane removed his hand from my stomach and held my hand. He moved closer to my brother’s headstone and rubbed the top of it.
“Bro, I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. Just know that your sister and niece or nephew will be protected at all costs. I got them, bro.” He kissed his two fingers, then touched the top of the headstone. “Rest in peace.”
“I’ll talk to you soon, Brother.”
Kane and I left the cemetery and headed to our destination.
A little while later, we ended up at a bakery. It was odd that nobody was in there but one lady and us.
“Hello, and welcome. I’m Malia, the owner.” She reached out and shook my hand, then Kane’s.
“Hi.”
“Hello, and thank you for doing this for us,” Kane said as he led me further inside.
“Of course. Let me show you guys where we’ll be starting.” She led us into the kitchen of the bakery.
On a big counter were different types of cake batter, eggs, multiple types of frosting, and a bunch of other stuff.
“So, tonight we’ll be baking a cake and some cookies. It’s up to you what you want to do. I heard you are a baker,” she said as she smiled at me.
“A little.”
“Shit, a lot,” Kane added. “She likes to bake all the time. I had to increase my workouts because she’s always making some shit.”
Malia and I laughed. She handed each of us an apron. “Well good. Y’all probably won’t even need me, so I’ll leave you to it. I’ll be in my office down the hall if you need anything.”
Kane thanked her, and she left the kitchen. I walked over to the counter and looked at all the ingredients. There were so many to choose from. If we worked together, we could make a few things to take home.
“What made you choose this?”
“I figured since you liked to bake, we could bake something together. It’s a bigger stove here, so I knew you’d be in heaven.”
I looked around at all the appliances and got excited. Whenever I baked at home, I had a simple stove, and I had to mix everything with a whisk. Here, I could use top-of-the-line appliances and make multiple things at once.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” He kissed my forehead, then released me.
We checked out all the ingredients and decided on a cake, pie, and cookies. My stomach was happy about the choices we made. I hadn’t had any symptoms of being pregnant, and I prayed it stayed that way.
We worked together, mixing the ingredients. Malia had left some drinks for us. Since Kane didn’t know about the baby, there was wine, but he ended up not opening the bottle. Instead, we both drank water and sparkling juice.
“Are you happy about the baby?” I asked Kane as he mixed the ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.
“Hell yeah. I never thought I’d have this.”
“Sometimes, I didn’t either. Who would have guessed that the man I thought wasn’t worth a damn turned out to be worth more than I could imagine.”
“They say a man changes for the right one, and you are the right one.” He wiped his hands off on his apron, then stepped back.
Tears sprang to my eyes when he got down on one knee and pulled a black box from his pocket.
“Raina. My Munch, you made me give up my player card, and I don’t regret it one bit.
You mean the world to me, baby. And now that I know you are carrying my baby, I love you even more.
You are already first lady of the Vipers and the first lady of my life, but I want you to carry my last name. Will you marry me?”
“Yes,” I quickly answered.
Kane put the ring on my finger, then stood to kiss me.
I never would have thought that I’d find love when I walked into that clubhouse, but I did. I was going to be someone’s mother, and Kane’s wife. Life couldn’t have been any better. The only thing missing was my brother, but I knew he would always be there in spirit.
