Chapter 30
Victor
“What did she say when you asked her that?” Ty asks with a look of shock-slash-humor on his face. We’re sitting in the upper corner of the bleachers at the high school waiting for Kerri and Abby’s game to start. I’ve been filling Tyson in on the garage fiasco that happened yesterday.
“Asked who, what?” Emma asks as she and Gabbi walk up to us.
“Shit! Emma, you scared me. I didn’t see you all come up here.” I’m not sure if Gabbi is going to be thrilled that I’m filling Ty in.
“Well, you can thank your buddy sitting next to you, since he saw us coming and proceeded to distract you while we approached. Busted.” Emma laughs.
I frown at Ty, whose trying to cover a smirk with his hand, “Dick!” Everyone seems to find this funny except for me. “G, you didn’t tell Emma?”
Emma cuts in before Gabbi can answer, “What? About your seductive book reading sesh out in the garage and you all getting busted while you were in, hmmm, a precarious state?” She waggles her eyebrows and looks down at my crotch.
Smooth Ems. “Yes, Gabbi told me. She did not, however, tell me about a Q it sucked to watch.
So Gabbi makes it a point to be super supportive.
Even when giving pointers or correcting the girls, she does it in a way that builds them up, instead of tearing them down.
When Kerri scores the winning goal of the game, Gabbi stands first, followed by the rest of us. I watch Gabbi jump up and down, hollering praise. I can’t keep my eyes off her. She’s fucking captivating. How did I ever forget that?
When the crowd settles down and the teams line up to shake hands, we start to gather our things and stand to exit the bleachers.
Looking over at the field to see the girls, I scan to the side parking lot, where I see one guy standing by the fence next to his blacked-out motorcycle.
I lightly elbow Ty and ask, “Hey, did you know Trip was coming?”
At that, Ty and Emma snap their heads up to see Trip get on his motorcycle and speed away. Ty shrugs his shoulders, “Hmm, no, he didn’t say anything about it. Kinda weird.” Ty shrugs, then drops the subject and continues moving down to exit the stadium.
Pressing up against Gabbi from behind, I place one of my hands on her hip as she guides us toward the exit. I lean into her and let her know that Trip was here watching the game and that I’m not sure I like this feeling I have. She looks back at me and matches my concern.
Looks like the Q&A session will be on a different subject tonight.
