Chapter 13 #2
Then it hit him. Had she found someone she wanted to date? He wasn’t sure how she would’ve done so, since she spent most of her time in his house…but it was possible. She talked to a lot of people online for work, and maybe one of them had clicked with her.
The idea made his stomach cramp, and all the delicious Chinese food he’d just eaten threatened to come right back up.
He suddenly understood what Edge might be feeling a little better. And he felt even worse for his friend than he did before. Because this sucked. It felt as if his heart was being ripped out of his chest.
“You’ve…you’ve met someone you might want to go out with? And you’re struggling with that?” he asked, after an awkward pause in the conversation.
She nodded, looking relieved he’d figured it out.
And the sick feeling increased tenfold.
Chaos dropped his hand from her hair and put a little space between them. He felt…sad? Betrayed? He had no right to feel that way. She hadn’t promised him anything. He’d just assumed she might feel the same way he did. Surely the feeling of rightness he’d had from the beginning wasn’t one-sided?
But it seemed as if maybe it was. Had always been. That he’d assumed things he had no right assuming.
“Arrow?”
“That’s great. I’m happy for you. Make sure he knows about your past. Not the details, not until you’re ready to share them, but at least that you were hurt in the worst way a woman can be hurt by a man. So he’ll go easy. Slow. Let you set the pace.”
“Oh. But—”
“And you know that me and the rest of the guys are always here for you. We’ll have your back.
If this guy doesn’t appreciate what he’s got in you, he’ll have us to answer to.
And it’s probably best if your first date is in a public place.
Oh! You can go to Anchor Point. I’ll see if Casper or one of the other guys can arrange to be there to keep an eye on you, just in case. ”
“Arrow, you don’t—”
“I need to make sure you’re safe, Kara. I just…I can’t be there myself. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care. I want you to be happy—”
“Shut it, Arrow!” Kara practically yelled.
Shocked, Chaos stared at her in confusion. He had no idea why she seemed so upset.
“You’re such an idiot. It’s you, Arrow! You’re the one I’m interested in.”
It took a beat for her words to sink in.
“Though I’m not surprised in the least that you would go to such lengths to make sure I’m safe, and I appreciate it.
It makes me even more sure of what I want.
You. I like you, Arrow. A lot. You’re different from any guy I’ve ever been around, and I’ve spent the last week trying to figure out how to tell you that I wouldn’t mind us dating. That is…if you want…”
The last bit was said haltingly, as if she was unsure of herself.
Which was unacceptable.
Chaos closed the distance he’d put between them and clasped her head in his hands, tangling his fingers in her blonde locks before pulling her close and kissing her the way he’d dreamed of for weeks.
To his relief, she kissed him back. Met his kiss with an equal desperation and passion. He felt her hands grab his biceps and her fingernails dig in lightly, holding on as they kissed.
Sparks shot from his lips down to his toes. A rightness filled Chaos from the inside out. Any remaining doubts he’d had that this woman was the one were shattered in that moment.
Their tongues dueled, and she gave as good as she got. She wasn’t passive, nibbling on his lower lip and thrusting her tongue into his mouth to caress his own. Their heads turned this way, then that, both trying to deepen the kiss.
She walked backward, pulling him with her as she went. Her hands roamed, as did his. Chaos’s skin felt too tight. He felt like howling and crying at the same time.
She led them into his room and straight to the bed. Only then did she pull back.
Her lips were swollen and glistening, and she was breathing as hard as he was.
“Are you sure?” he asked, knowing if she said no or changed her mind it might kill him, but he’d back off.
“Clothes. Off,” she said in reply, as she reached for the hem of the T-shirt she was wearing.
Chaos fumbled with his flight suit. It took way too long to unzip it and shrug it off his shoulders. He pushed it over his hips and stood before her in an army-green T-shirt and boxers. He froze when he saw that Kara had stripped down to her bra and panties.
His brain short-circuited. He couldn’t believe she was here. In his room. Almost in his bed. He’d dreamed of this moment since she’d first stepped foot in his home, but never in a million years thought it would happen so soon. If at all.
He reached for his shirt—then hesitated when he saw a spark of fear in her eyes.
It was as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown over him.
He needed to take his own words to heart.
Words he’d just said to her while they’d been in the kitchen.
Of course she was nervous. She’d been assaulted, her choices had been taken away from her.
She needed to be in control here. And Chaos was more than willing to give that to her.
Smiling, he walked to the other side of the bed to give her some space. Then he threw back the covers and got onto the bed. He lay on his back, put his arms over his head, and said gently, “You’re in charge, sweetheart. Whatever you need, whatever you want…I’ll give it to you.”
She stared at him for a long moment, so long Chaos was terrified she’d decided she couldn’t do this. But as much as he wanted to be one with this woman, it would be on her terms or not at all. She needed to take her power back.
She pressed her lips together in an adorable show of determination and climbed onto the bed with him. Chaos thought she might lie down next to him, but he shouldn’t have underestimated her. She straddled his thighs and put her hands on the mattress next to his chest.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“You never have to thank me for putting your emotional well-being first,” he told her. “And if you think this is a hardship for me, it’s not,” he added. “Seeing you above me, feeling your thighs against my own, it’s sexy as all get out.”
He was barely aware of what he was saying, but relief swept through Chaos at the smile that lifted her lips.
“Can I take your shirt off?” she asked.
“You can do whatever the hell you want,” he told her, straightening his arms over his head.
Her hands brushed against his belly as she moved the material up his chest, and it was all Chaos could do to not take over.
This was her show, and he wasn’t going to fuck it up.
His vision was cut off momentarily as the material went over his head, but the look of pleasure on her face when the shirt was gone was worth every ounce of sexual agony he was feeling right now.
His dick was so hard it hurt. And he could feel how wet his boxers were. His cock was leaking precome as if he hadn’t jacked off in the shower this morning.
Her gaze roamed his body, and it was more than obvious she liked what she saw.
Chaos had worked hard to not only get in shape, but stay that way.
Night Stalkers prided themselves on being the best of the best, and that included being able to hold their own physically with the special forces men and women they ferried in and out of dangerous situations.
Her hands flattened on his chest and moved lower, then back up, brushing over his nipples with every pass.
A quiet groan escaped his lips.
She looked up and gave him a satisfied smile. “You’re hard everywhere.”
Yeah, he certainly was.
Chaos could see her nipples pressing against her bra, but he didn’t move a muscle. His mouth watered with the need to suck on the succulent globes.
The longer she sat astride him, the more she relaxed. She leaned down and licked one of his nipples, making Chaos jerk in reaction.
Then she closed her lips around the tight bud and sucked, hard.
It took every ounce of control he had not to come in his boxers.
“Kara,” he moaned.
When she lifted her head, she was smiling. “I like this.”
“Me too,” he reassured her.
She leaned forward and put her lips on his once more. Chaos wanted to roll over and plunge his cock into her body, but instead thrust his tongue into her mouth in an imitation of what he hoped they’d be doing in the not-so-distant future.
They were both panting when she lifted off him. She suddenly looked unsure.
“What is it?” Chaos asked.
“I don’t know what to do. I mean, I know how this is supposed to go, but it feels weird to have you lying under me…not participating.”
“Tell me what you need from me,” he ordered.
“Touch me.”
“Where?”
In response, she reached behind her back to undo her bra. The second the fleshy globes bounced free, another burst of precome leaked from his cock.
“Lean down here,” he ordered, keeping his gaze locked on her tits.
She did, and scooted up until her pussy was resting on his dick. It both hurt and felt amazing at the same time. Lifting his head, Chaos latched on to one of her nipples, and he felt her thighs tighten around him. Slowly moving a hand, he caressed the other tit, thumbing her nipple.
It was Kara’s turn to moan, and she arched her back, pushing more of her flesh into his mouth. Her hips began to subtly move over him at the same time, thrilling Chaos. His Kara was incredibly sensual, and he was so grateful that hadn’t been extinguished by her previous experiences.
Moving his mouth to her other breast, he licked and sucked on that nipple, loving how hard the nub got. Kara was riding his cock now, and even through their underwear, he’d never felt anything better.
How long he worshiped her chest, Chaos had no idea, and he would’ve been content to stay right where he was for the rest of the night. But apparently, Kara needed more.
She lifted up, and his mouth leaving her nipple made a slight popping noise.
“I’m ready,” she declared, moving to the side and reaching for her panties. “Yours too,” she told him.
