Chapter 5
Chapter Five
Knight
“I’m clean; I’ve never had sex without a condom. Well, go straight to the pharmacy and get a Plan B. I’m so fucking sorry.” Jenna seems to be processing this information at a snail’s pace.
“Yeah, just to be safe. I don’t think I’m ovulating, but you can never be too careful.” Ah, she was doing the math in her head.
“That was incredible.” She’s smiling, and that eases some of my tension.
I came inside her, which makes her permanent. Accident or not, club rules state she’s my old lady now. How in the hell am I supposed to explain that to her? I could keep it a secret, but I’m a shit liar, and Pirate will catch me within a day.
“Okay, you seem to be freaking out more than me. It’s okay, I’m not upset.” Jenna kisses me, and I pull her against me hard, afraid that after I tell her she’ll never let me touch her again.
“My motorcycle club has some pretty archaic rules when it comes to women. One of them is that we don’t plant our seeds in every garden. Meaning we only do it in women we plan to keep. Forever.” I let the last word fall between us and wait to see how she takes it.
She shoves my shoulder and stands up, looking for her discarded clothes.
“So because you ejaculated inside me, I’m what to you exactly?” Well, she’s madder than a wet pussy.
The irony of her still leaking me is not lost on me at the moment.
“Jenna, I didn’t make the fucking rules. Please listen.” She shoves her legs into the jeans, then pulls on her shirt.
“Answer my fucking question, Troy.” I sigh and grind my teeth before I can form the words out loud.
Once I see them there out in the world, I cannot take them back.
“You’re my old lady.” She tilts her head to the side.
“I’m twenty-six; how is that old?” I really want to laugh at that, but I think she might cut my dick off, so I stand and fix my own pants, which were still open with my cock out.
“It’s a term of endearment. It means life partner or wife.” She places her hands on her hips and glares at me.
“Having sex is like a marriage to bikers?” Okay, I need to navigate this minefield carefully.
“Unprotected sex or taking the virginity of a woman is a lifelong commitment in our club. They wrote it into the bylaws as a way of protecting the women and any children produced from the pairings. We take it very seriously.” A laugh bubbles up her throat, and she throws her hands up in the air.
“Of course, the best sex of my life had to have permanent strings attached to it. Look, this night was great, but that’s all it was. I am not married to you because a condom broke. Just take me home, Troy.” She grabs her boots and starts walking back towards the boardwalk.
“Jenna, wait!” I hunch down, grabbing my own boots and jogging after her.
“Why? So you can throw me in the ocean and claim some other idiotic biker ritual has occurred? You and your merry band of assholes sound more like a cult than a club right now. So there’s no room for accidents?
Even the church allows annulments.” She stomps up the steps to the boardwalk, and I grab her arm, spinning her around to face me.
“The church allows annulments but doesn’t recognize them. Marriage is for life there, too.” She frowns as I cup her cheek.
“I never meant for any of this to happen. Please give me a chance to fix it. Those bylaws are ancient. Maybe it’s time to revise them.” She purses her lips.
“Fine, can we go? I know a twenty-four-hour pharmacy near my place.” I kiss her lips softly and rest my head on her forehead.
“Don’t hate me, please.” I close my eyes, wishing one thing would go right with this woman.
“I don’t hate you. Your club, on the other hand, can kick rocks.” I chuckle.
“Fair enough. Come on.” I take her hand, and we walk to where I left my Harley.
“What the fuck?” The parking lot is a fucking mess.
There are two dumpsters on their sides, and the trash has blown all over the parking lot.
My Harley is surrounded by a thick circle of spray paint on the black top with the words ‘SOMC THINK THEY’RE UNTOUCHABLE’.
My biker is pristine inside the circle, but our helmets are destroyed and full of trash.
I spin in a circle looking around, but the lot is deserted.
“Who did this?” Jenna says as she knocks our helmets off the seat.
“No fucking clue.” I inspect the motorcycle before I start it up.
“I don’t see any trackers or damage. She seems to be running okay.” I get on and help Jenna as she grips my stomach tightly.
I pull out of the lot slowly with my head on a swivel, looking for any signs of who may have done this or anyone following us. I keep my speed steady, not wanting to seem like any of this fazed me, but inside I’m seething.
When I find out who did this, they’re going to pay.
We’ve just made it back into Manhattan when I notice a tail on us. I pat Jenna’s hand and point to the mirror. She instantly grips me tighter, and I have never been so grateful that she’s a rider cause I’m about to test her trust in me.
I speed up, run a red light, and swerve into an alley, cutting over to the next street. I turn right and head towards the Bronx, thinking I lost them, but then three more bikes fall in behind me.
“Who the fuck are these assholes?” I curse out loud and start darting in and out of traffic to put as much distance between the people and us following as I can.
I cut in between a truck and a car, barely clearing them, and change direction ‘cause I was not leading them to her apartment building. I make my way to the clubhouse, and the moment I’m through the gates, I help Jenna off.
“Go inside.” I push her towards the door and turn to the guards.
“Gun,” I hiss as I see the three bikers coming our way.
“Trouble?” Sprocket says, handing me a Glock.
“Not sure,” I say honestly as I walk out of the gates with my gun aimed at the incoming bikers.
“Let’s find out.” I pull the trigger, kicking up gravel a few feet from the lead guy’s tire.
He panics and jerks his motorcycle to the side, wiping out in front of his two other men. One grabs the guy’s arm, helping him up, and he quickly gets on that guy’s bike before they turn and speed off, but not before I see they’re not wearing any colors.
Spector runs up next to me holding an assault rifle.
“Who the fuck was that?”
I really wish I knew.
