Chapter 36 #2

“Damn. I’m typically one of the scariest people in the room, and you’re pretty damn scary,” one of the brothers rumbles. Since it’s dark, I have to assume it’s the big one with the glasses.

“Steps start here,” I say, ignoring his statement. There’s a flashlight left behind for me, and I lean down and pick it up as I begin climbing the stairs.

I can see the door is open, and the sky is dark and stormy looking still. It’s only slightly better than the pitch black down in the bunker, but at least it’s not raining anymore.

I can see that the field is filled with people as I walk out of the deep hole of the narrow stairwell, and I move out of the way to allow Hollis and her friends to escape.

“Where’s Cass, Bellamy, and Winter?” I ask Henri as he jogs up to meet me.

“They’re at the hospital. The doctor said Cassidy needed surgery, and Bellamy and Winter needed fluids. They’re all very dehydrated,” he explains.

“And the other thing we asked for?” I ask, not wanting to directly ask about Clara.

“At Pack Mayor’s warehouse,” he replies.

Nodding, I move to lift the door to close it, my eyes searching for Lyle.

“Are we all clear?” I ask Henri.

“Blow the fucker up, sir,” he says resolutely, moving to help me.

“I’ll help,” the man with the glasses says.

He has muscles all over his body, and when he lifts the door, I’m grateful for his help because it’s much easier.

“Numbers, please,” I request, pulling out my phone to begin inputting them.

It takes a few minutes, and then I’m hitting the button to blow it up. The ground shudders underneath us, but the fact that nothing caves in shows how well it was constructed.

Burn in hell, Jake.

“Now, if you don’t mind, please show me where you parked so I can blow that up too,” I say to Hollis.

Her lips twitch as she asks, “Think we can get a ride? It’s at least two miles that way.”

She points toward the west, and I realize that not only was Ansel correct in saying how large the bunker was, I need to make sure I tell him that.

Even I doubted him at one point earlier today, and he was right all along.

“I’ll drive,” Henri says, already walking toward the SUV.

“On the way, you can tell me about your sister,” I offer to the men. “I’m Shiloh.”

“I’m Caleb, and this is my brother Lars,” the brown haired alpha says as we walk. “Clara stole our sister from a rescue mission out of a sex club. It was a bit chaotic, and took us a while to realize she’d been there. A woman named Quinn told us about it.”

“She was known as Makayla before,” Hollis adds.

We get into the vehicle, and I nod for them to continue.

“I heard about the rescue mission from my omegas,” I explain. “Clara took them as well.”

“I’m sorry,” Lars offers. “She’s one sick bitch.”

“She’s going to be a dead one soon,” I admit. “Can I ask what your sister’s name is?”

“Alisa,” Lars says.

“I’ve seen her,” I breathe. At their wide eyes, I shake my head.

“Let me explain. Clara lost the rest of her ‘inventory’ of omegas because they escaped. Due to our omegas being easier to obtain in her mind, she blackmailed one of my men into helping her kidnap them. They also kidnapped Cassidy, our alpha female that you helped, because she happened to be there. The kidnapping happened a week ago, and we’ve been losing our minds trying to find them. ”

“But how…?” Hollis looks like she’s trying to figure out how to politely ask something, but I’m not very polite.

“How did we figure out where the auction was being held without an invite?” I snort.

“I found the auction flier up on a random bulletin board on the dark web, but couldn’t get an address.

I was able to track my people to the bunker when they were first kidnapped.

However, we couldn’t figure out how to get in.

So, we did it the old fashioned way: with military grade ground penetrating radars.

Thankfully, we have very good friends, but finding that fucking door was grueling. ”

“You just gave me so much anxiety,” Lars groans, rubbing the back of his neck. “You had every guardian angel watching out for you.”

As in, it could have gone very badly. Got it.

“As for your sister, my pack and I were walking downtown when we saw her sleeping in the street. Abbott, one of my pack members, offered to help her get into a shelter. He didn’t want her to get picked up by a police officer for sleeping on the sidewalk,” I explain.

“My omegas tried to talk to her, but she ran. I have some friends who may be able to help find her.”

Caleb and Lars both blow out a breath as they nod and thank me.

“The good news is, I don’t think she’s left Savannah,” I explain. “Now, let’s go blow up some shit, shall we?”

“Can we get our car out of the parking area?” Hollis asks lightly. “The entrance is just here.”

Henri grunts in agreement as he turns, and Hollis directs him to a large barn. Since it was so far away, we didn’t even think to look out here.

“The ground isn’t level when you go inside. Instead, it drops in a steep incline into an underground garage,” Caleb explains.

“There’s no way we would have found this. It’s not even under the original owner,” I mutter.

Guardian angels indeed. Fuck, I need to finish this and head to the hospital.

“I’ll get your vehicle if you’d like,” Henri offers, putting the SUV in park.

“Thank you,” Hollis says, handing over the keys as we get out of the vehicle. “Let’s get this done so my alphas won’t complain.”

I glance at Caleb and Lars and they shake their heads as we walk toward the barn doors.

“No, we left her pack with our omega,” Caleb says. “It was safer.”

It makes me wonder what their story is, but it’s not my place. I’m just glad to have help so I know the bunkers will never be used again. With Avery dead and Clara in our custody, maybe this nightmare will finally be over.
