the whipped cream didn’t deserve that.

I take a sip of the coffee in my hands, letting the warmth seep through me as I watch the four males work about my kitchen.
Monty pours waffle mix into the waffle iron that I most definitely didn’t own before today, scooting out of the way perfectly as Anderson slips beside him to open the oven, where he pulls out a baking sheet full of the most drool-worthy, crisp bacon.
They have an ease to their movements that could only come from years of knowing someone.
My black counter tops, usually empty except for maybe some cups and takeout containers, have bags of groceries laying on them.
The island has plates and utensils along with what I assume are toppings for the waffles.
I spy a can of whipped cream and a bowl of chocolate chips, as Monty turns and places a bowl of fruit with the other items.
Taylor and Luke seem content to sit on either side of me at the bar, watching the two large Alphas maneuver around.
We all have our coffee and sit in a peaceful silence.
Taylor takes the moment and slips his hand to my thigh, drawing lazy circles on my skin, ever so slowly moving up and up.
I start squirming again, not having fully lost the wave of lust that consumed me earlier after seeing him and Monty in this very space.
My perfume drifts about, causing both Monty and Anderson to look over to see what trouble we are getting into.
Taylor removes his hand grabbing for his cup again, acting like he’s innocent in the situation.
Luke shakes his head, pointing to the Alpha while I sit there giggling.
These men will never let a moment go by where they aren’t teasing me it seems. Not that I want them to.
Anderson takes the moment to reach across the counter and softly caresses my face, moving his fingers to tuck some wild bangs behind my ear.
I lean into his touch, the warmth from his skin imprinting the feeling of his big hands into my memory.
My eyes fall shut as his citrus scent drifts into my nostrils.
He lingers on my skin, easing all my nerves.
“So, after this decadent breakfast, do we plan on having some more serious conversations about what we are doing with this pack bonding?” I ask, opening my hazel eyes to find Monty’s emerald ones locked on me.
“Yeah Sugar, we’ll talk more once everyone is happily fed.” Monty says, moving back to the waffle iron that begins to beep, indicating it’s finished. His shoulders strain at his dark t-shirt as he moves, plating waffles and pouring the last of the batter into the iron with a sizzle.
Anderson moves with practiced motions as he works to put together a plate of fresh waffles, fruit and some bacon, which I learn is meant to be mine when he plops it down in front of me.
Am I supposed to eat all of this? Taylor tops my stack of waffles with some whipped cream, promptly placing the spout near his mouth and squeezing some into his mouth.
I giggle as he does it again, only he missed Monty reaching his hand across to smack the bottle from his hand, sending whipped cream sailing to the floor.
“What the fuck? The whipped cream didn’t deserve that.” Taylor whines as he stares at the mess on the floor.
“Oops.” Monty teases, winking at me before turning to the stove and grabbing some bacon for himself. Once everyone has food plated and is happily munching around the island, Anderson decides to break the peaceful silence with several sentences I wasn’t ready to hear.
“So. I better tell you all now, I texted my dad. We have a meeting with him on Monday at the James Tech Offices.” He’s solemn as he says it, knowing that the words sink into my chest with dread.
My appetite is gone, my nerves on edge again and I’m pretty sure my scent has turned to something unpleasant if their faces are any indicator.
Taylor wraps his arms around my shoulders, his purr rumbling softly in his chest in an attempt to comfort me. My eyes stay locked on Anderson where he stands across from me, waiting for him to say more before I let my thoughts loose on him.
“We have to go in and explain our plan. Even just the basics. He needs to know we are all a united front and that we are bonding. He’s likely going to say we have to invite him.” He continues, “The other piece is that he will be there.”
I knew going into this that I’d likely see Trent again, but I was really hoping it’d be months from now. Not next week.
“What’s the rush to get us in there again?” Luke questions, observing how I am suddenly pulling at the hem of my shirt, a nervous habit I gained years ago.
“Well. Since the clause said one of us had to be packed by thirty and Trent will be 30 in…” Anderson looks at his phone to confirm what I already know, “three weeks. He’s going to fight us on this whole move.
He’s been unhinged since you ran away Jac.
I want to keep you as far away from him as possible, my instincts hate bringing you back anywhere near him… ”
“But if I don’t go, they won’t believe you guys have an Omega.
I get it Anderson. Trent will fight you with everything he has to keep that seat at the company.
If he doesn’t see me, he will find a way around it.
” I say, reaching my hand across the counter.
I’m too short but Anderson meets me. Clasping my hand, he nods.
Silence fills the room. It’s awkward, uncomfortable, and full of nerves. All the lightness and lust from the last night disappeared as reality sinks in.
“So, who wants to go bowling?” Luke breaks the silence, the tension floats away as I start to chuckle from his random suggestion. Honestly that sounds like the perfect distraction.
