Epilogue

Junior

I stood on the porch waiting for Bria to pull up.

It had been almost six months since we met, and today was the day.

I had a whole plan for tonight. As much as I didn’t mind going back and forth between here and Wild Vista, I was ready for us to be together.

I was going to ask her to move. It was a risk, but I wanted her with me all the time.

I missed her too much when we were apart, and I knew that Carl and Lucinda could get along without her.

Besides, if we needed to then we could always go back every once in a while and help out, but I wanted her here.

The sound of tires caught my attention, and I looked up with a smile. If frozen when I saw not only Bria’s car but Dallas’s truck pulling in behind her.

I raced down the stairs to meet her as she pulled to a stop. “Hey beautiful.” I’d never get tired of reminding her just how gorgeous she was.

“Hi,” I held the door as she got out. Immediately she was in my arms.

I placed a quick kiss on her lips before I heard the door of the truck open. Dallas was standing beside it.

“What is going on?” I looked between the two of them. “I thought you went to pick up a horse for Trinity.” That’s what he had said when he left a few days ago.

“Yeah, that’s being delivered.” Dallas smiled and walked toward the back of the truck.

“Bria, what’s going on?” I repeated.

“I talked Carl and Lucinda into letting me work remotely.” She smiled. “And I asked Dallas to help me move my things.”

“What?” I couldn’t believe it. “Why didn’t you tell me?” I would have gladly gone down to help her.

“I wanted it to be a surprise.” She looked a little nervous. “That is if it’s okay.”

“Are you kidding?” I picked her up and spun her around. “It’s more than okay.” I was getting everything I wanted. It was perfect.

“How about you help me with some of these things?” Dallas yelled from the back of his truck.

“No problem.” I let her go to help him unload everything.

“I guess we can put it all in my room for now.” Unlike my two older cousins, I hadn’t built my own house yet.

However, now that Bria was here, I’d have to see about getting to work on that.

I didn’t want us living with my parents and my younger brother.

“Nope.” Dallas laughed. “I talked to Uncle Julius and you guys are staying in the guest house behind Momma D’s and Pappi’s house.”

“Thank goodness.” I nodded. I loved my parents and respected them, but I there was no way I could do all the things I wanted to do with Bria under their roof.

“And they already talked to Luke about possibly building another house.” He continued.

“At this point, we’re going to have to start our own community or subdivision.” I joked.

“You’re not wrong.”

It didn’t take that long for us to get everything unloaded and into the guest house. I stood in the small living room watching as Bria moved around, straightening out her boxes and putting things away. I’d never felt so at home on this ranch as I did right this moment.

“Come here.” I held out my hand for her. She walked over and I pulled her into an embrace. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She smiled up at me.

“Let’s go for a ride.”

“I still have so much to put up.” She looked over at the boxes.

“Later. I want to show you your new home.”

Her smile grew. “Okay.”

Together I rode over the land I’d lived my whole life and shared it with the only woman I could ever love.
