2. Adelaide
ADELAIDE
“Dumb bitch.” I turned as I rubbed my temples. The headache from the drinking and loud music was setting in.
The giant man behind me was laughing. “Seems like it’s just me and you babe.”
“Not a babe.” I motioned down my body. “Just a sweaty mess.” Why I talked down about myself I’ll never know. I definitely wasn’t the type to fish for compliments. Actually, the less attention the better.
“Perhaps you’d like to come to my place for a nightcap….” He still didn’t move from his spot leaning on the wall, he did smirk though. A panty melting smirk. “This is where you tell me a name so I don’t keep making an ass of myself.”
“I like seeing you try.” I tapped my chin. “Go on hot shot, let’s hear what ya got.”
“Okay sweetheart. The cute blushing girl has left the building and this chick is fucking hot.” He was laying it on thick. I hoped something else was thick…internally I smacked my forehead. That was a terrible thought. This tree of a man seemed like a nice guy.
“Sweetheart AND chick! Gasp.” I put my hand on my chest. “You went right to the big guns buddy boy.”
“Darlin’ you don’t know who you're messing with.” He drawled out a southern accent. He pushed away from the wall and sauntered towards me.
I pretended to fall backwards and faint. “A southern accent to boot. Swoon.”
“Baby girl, if I get my hands on you…”
I braced myself on the parking meter, “Baby girl! Take me now.”
Before I knew it, the giant man was standing over me. “You wound my pride sunshine, come home with me, one drink, I’ll call you a cab.”
“Sorry, No can do, kangaroo.”
“What’s your name sass pot?” His arm snaked around my waist and he pulled my body against his. The hard planes of his chest were a wet dream. Who was I kidding, I didn’t need to be asleep to be wet.
I gulped, my attitude immediately dying. “Adelaide.” I finally said, looking up at him.
“What a beautiful name for such a beautiful woman.” He reached up and tucked my hair behind my ear.
“I liked you better before.” When he wasn’t so damn charming and complimentary.
He leaned down and brushed his lips along my jaw. His scruff felt rough on my cheeks, but I didn’t mind. Again, I hadn’t been on a date, let alone just a one night stand in a long time. “Why is that?”
Motioning towards the wall, I said “I stood a better chance of resisting you over there.” My voice came out breathless. More than I intended.
“Lemon drop, I don’t think you know how rare this is for me.”
“Lemon drop?” I couldn’t stop the laugh that bubbled out of me. Before I knew it I was in a full on, alcohol induced giggle fit. “How is that my favorite and the worst of all the names?” I managed to say between gasps.
“Adelaide, come home with me?” His smooth, deep voice stopped my laughter.
“Y-yes.” I managed to get out through the aftershock giggles. I raised my hand and squeezed his muscular arm. I couldn’t help myself.
“Excellent.” Satisfaction rolled him in waves.
He motioned behind me and a red pick up pulled up to the curb with an enthusiastic looking valet driver behind the wheel.
I was speechless. It was not what I was expecting being this close to downtown.
“Come on Lemon.” He opened the door and helped me into the truck.
“Hold on mister. Lemon is not sticking. No fucking way.”
“Yes way.” He closed the truck door and walked around the front.
As we pulled away from the curb I realized that I still didn’t know his name. “Sir, you still haven’t told me your name.”
He reached across the truck and lightly squeezed thigh. “It’s Tyson.”
I kid you not, chills went down my spine. “That’s a good name.”
“I prefer Ty though.”
“Tyson…Ty….both very sexy names for a very sexy man.” Who was I right now?
“Lemon, you are on the fast track to get fucked senseless tonight.” Oh wow. He had a deliciously dirty mouth. I’m confident I was dreaming now.
I poked his shoulder, “You're assuming I had sense to begin with.”
