ADELAIDE
Waking up in the large bed was honestly fucking cool. It made me hate my queen sized bed. Also waking up next to Tyson was a bonus. We had already fucked pretty much until sunrise, but this bed was too cozy and the temptation to snuggle was too great. I needed a bed this big, pronto.
I rolled over and Tyson was sprawled out and not even touching me.
Fucking glorious. He was fully exposed in the morning light, I was drawn to the scars on his chest and legs.
Oh…and a leg tattoo that I missed earlier.
An intricate design of a rose and vines around his huge thigh.
I could see the scars on his knees from the injury he spoke about.
Holy shit, he looked like he’d been through battle.
“Are you done staring now so I can move?” Tyson laughed under his breath. My eyes jumped to him and he had his eyes closed and wasn’t facing me.
“Fuck dude. You scared me.” I fell back into his side and he grunted, then wrapped me in his arms.
“Oh baby, there’s a lot scarier things than me.” And he’d protect me, I’m sure of it.
“I don’t think so. You calling me baby is scary enough.” More giggling. I couldn’t stop myself.
“Oh…right. You don’t like nicknames. Sorry Lemon.” He kissed the top of my head with a chuckle.
“What time is it?” This was getting a bit too cozy for my liking. More than I’d allow out of anyone, let alone someone I just met.
“Noon.”
I don’t ever sleep in. Not ever. I also never stay the night. “I gotta go.” I slid out of his grasp and grabbed his shirt. “Also, I’m keeping this.”
“Hey…wait. Where are you going?” Tyson grabbed my hand.
He looked pitiful, it made me feel bad. For once. But I had his phone number. If I wanted to see him again, I could. “Ty. I can’t stay. I…uh…have to feed my cat.”
“Woah, why are you running out? With that lame excuse?” Of course he didn’t buy the pet excuse.
I rolled my eyes. “You're going to feel bad when you find out I actually have a cat.” I don’t. Am I stubborn enough to go to the animal shelter to adopt one on the way home, absolutely.
“I think you would have told me about a cat.” Tyson pulled me down to his side, brushing my unruly hair out of my face. “Who hurt you? Why are you leaving in such a hurry?”
Who hurt me? This fucking guy. Thinking he’d ride in and save the day. “Put your white horse back in the stall. I’m fine. I don’t need a man and I don’t need you to save me.” That was harsh. I knew it was. I was more mad at myself for tainting the flawless night of laughing and fucking.
“Hey….Adelaide. C’mon…” I walked out and heard him behind me. “Wait.” I couldn’t stand the hurt in his eyes.
“Tyson, we had a good night. Can’t it just be that?” I wouldn’t soon be forgetting him. Just like I’m sure he wouldn’t forget me.
“Aren’t you the least bit curious about where this could go?” Yes. One hundred percent yes. But I came first.
Adelaide Byrnes came first. Not anyone else.
Not again.
“Goodbye Ty. It was really nice to meet you.” I walked out. Knowing this shirt would be my new favorite sleep shirt and I’d just left behind the best thing that ever happened to me.
