“What the fuck!” I grabbed a pillow off the couch and threw it across the room. How could she just leave? No kisses. No snuggling. No snarky remarks. “Fuck!” I yelled into my empty condo. What did I do wrong? I thought last night went so well.
This was a good reason to own and operate a gym.
I needed to burn off some steam. I got dressed in sweats and a hoodie and left.
I couldn’t shake the mood that hung around me.
I was just pissed off and confused. Did I give Adelaide a reason not to trust me?
Did I fuck up sometime throughout the night?
“Heya!” The bubbly blonde waved at me. She’d been flirting with me non stop since I hired her. She was nice enough but there was a punching bag calling my name and I didn’t want to chit chat.
Vance grabbed my arm on the way by but dropped it when I looked at him. “Woah, who gotchu lookin’ like a fucking ogre today?”
“Why are you talking like that?” I only paused to criticize him, then kept walking. I decided I didn’t want the answer to the question.
“Sorry old man.” There wasn’t that big of an age gap between us, it was a couple years difference. I shoved him back and kept going. Locker room. I just needed to get to the locker room. “Wait up!” Vance jogged next to me. “Wanna box?”
“Sure.” If it would make him leave me alone for a moment. He knew something was off, we’d known each other for a long time and he could read me like a goddamn book.
“Cool. I’ll go glove up.” He turned and walked away. Boxing would work too. I’d still burn off the agitation that was clouding my judgment. Why did she run out like her ass was on fire?
