ADELAIDE

Another day, another merciless teasing from Sophia and the girls. Marigold asked me if I asked Tyson out, Norah was the only one who’d side with me but I think it’s because she felt bad for me. The others just kept asking about Mr. Pierced Cock and I was really getting annoyed.

“Good morning girls.” Mari motioned for us to sit down and then turned on her computer. “I don’t have much today, other than asking Addy if she asked about Tyson McNally yet.”

I started to get up and Sophia put her arm out and pushed me back down. “No.”

“I have an idea, but you need to hear me out.” Mari sat down at the end of the table and tented her fingers in front of her face. “What if we interviewed him about the gym?”

Putting my hand up, I shook my head no before the words even came out of my mouth. “No. Instantly no. Never in a million years. We are City Women, not buff gym guys.”

“Ha. You're hilarious. We interview men all the time. Now is no different.” Sophia sat back and crossed her arms.

Mari looked a little more understanding. “You're right we are City Women, meaning we point out local businesses that are doing good things. His gym is successful and helps people in the community. He’s training Vance Langston right now, who is a big advocate for the community too.”

“Hold on. Did you really go out and do that research?” I was floored. I only gave them a name and what Ty did. Nothing else. This woman should have been a detective.

She looked proud of herself. “Laurel helped too. We wanted to make sure the guy was a good guy. And he is. Which leads me to, have you asked him out again?”

There it was. I thought it was odd that I didn’t get accosted that day. “No. I did not. He didn’t text me either though.”

“Then you are made for each other. Both are stubborn as hell waiting for the other to make the first move.” Lena, who normally remained quiet, spoke up. My head whipped to the side and she was smiling softly. “Tough love.” Then she shrugged.

“I don’t want tough love. I want to work.” I stood up, pushed my chair in, then headed to my office where I could lock myself away.

Sophia followed me, I knew she would. It wasn’t worth fighting. “You can’t hide forever. He’s the first guy you’ve been with since…” I stopped walking and she ran into me.

“Don’t say his name.”

“I didn’t.” She answered defensively. “I just think it’s time to try someone out.

Even if just for fun and I think that Mr. Pierced Cock is just the right guy to do it with.

He seems really nice. He took you back to his place for hot chocolate for fucks sake.

” She rolled her eyes. “I can’t even get a guy who has less than five cats. ”

“Sophia. No. He has a reputation that can be ruined by me and I will not hear anymore from you.” She knew where my limit was, even if she wanted to be pushy, she knew where to quit. And that was right now. “Now, no more. I’ll ask him out when I have time.”

Her eyes got big. “But you will do it?”

“Yes.” I answered finally and she cheered loudly.

“That’s all I want.” She responded to my dirty look and walked away from me, back to where they were meeting. “I’ll let the team know.”
