TYSON
When I got to the gym in the morning, there were already a few guys training and that made me feel good.
Vance was here somewhere, I saw his car.
Normally I’d hear him before I saw him. He loved to sit at the front desk with Ashley and flirt with her even though he knew it annoyed the shit out of me.
Then I spotted him sparring with Jackson, he waved when he saw me and I was now aware that everyone was looking at me. “There’s the sad sap who won’t call the pretty girl back.” He called across the entire gym and I felt myself shrink back. He knew I hated the attention.
“I’m not a sad sap. I know when someone’s out of my league.” I leaned on the corner post. “Now shut the fuck up about it. Also the phone works both ways, she could have called me.”
“I need to get in touch with her friends, maybe they can bug her too.” Vance was notorious for meddling and it was incredibly irritating. Every day for three days we had similar conversations. He’d call me some ridiculous name, and I’d flip him off then lock myself in my office.
I decided that I’d sleep in on Friday to avoid Vance and his opening shift. This would turn out to be a mistake on my part.
