TYSON
Two fucking days.
It had been two days since Addy walked away, calling it quits. She thought it would be that easy to get rid of me? Of us? No fucking way.
Vance walked into my office on a mission. He dropped down in front of me, covered in sweat and annoyed. “Fucking Jackson has a move that keeps getting me.” The side of his face was red, but wouldn’t bruise by any means.
“Well the guy you're fighting will do much worse, so keep practicing.” I was an idiot if he thought that would dismiss him so quickly. “Van, I don’t have time for this.”
“For what?” He readjusted himself so that he was sitting facing me with his legs wide. “Does the big guy need a hug?” He said mockingly. “Is he missing his girlfriend?”
“Like you aren’t.” I spat back at him, keeping my eyes locked on his. I would not play this game right now.
Vance stood up, then walked around my desk slowly.
We were not affectionate, considering the nature of our relationship.
Once we were training, he made a move and I didn’t stop him.
I don’t know how else to explain it. I don’t like men, but I like Vance.
He’s my best friend. “Are you getting sentimental on me?” He ruffled my hair, then tipped my face up to meet his gaze.
“I’m fucking pissed that she thought she could walk out without any kind of closure.” There. I said it.
“I’m also fucking pissed, but don’t take it out on me.” He said with finality, then leaned down and pecked my cheek. “Van, we can’t do this here.”
“I know. Maybe someday soon.” He straightened back out and headed for the door. “I have a plan.” Then tapped his temple and walked out.
I don’t know how long I sat in my office checking over accounts and then watching videos of old fights that Vance had done, but he came barging into my office again. This time on a mission. “Want to go for a ride with me?” He stepped up, dangling his keys in front of me.
“Is this where you kill me driving out into the country to your dad’s bar?”
“Tempting, but I’m going to Addy’s place. She didn’t break it off with me and if that’s her big plan, then I want her to do it in person. I need to see her face.” Vance had definitely been thinking about this the entire afternoon I’m sure.
I stood up quickly, grabbing my phone and keys. “I’m in.” We sped out of the parking lot and down the road to Addy’s house.
