ADELAIDE
I was haunted by the sad look on Tyson’s face when I said I’d leave him and Vance. I had this urge to protect the people around me at all costs. I had been doing it for years since everything happened with Thomas. He ruined my faith in men being good, or having good intentions.
Vance and Tyson somehow knew this and they challenged that mentality every step of the way.
Well, and Sophia too. Speaking of the devil, I looked up from my computer and she was leaning in the doorway. “How is it going, sad sap?”
“Fuck off.” I closed my laptop and rolled my chair back.
“You don’t mean that darling.” She waved her hand in the air. “Now, how are my two favorite men?”
“You know the answer to that already.” She was the first person I told that I called it off with Ty and Vance, although I didn’t really get to talk to Vance.
I hoped that Ty would just talk to him and I’d be off the hook.
Sophia snapped her fingers in front of my face.
“What?!” I flinched back, grabbing her hand.
“You. Should. Call. Them.”
“No.” I responded in the same clipped tone she used on me.
That’s when I decided to work from home.
I couldn’t do anything today with any of the girls bugging me.
Marigold had been in a few times, then Norah and Lena for lunch.
With Sophia glaring at me I packed up my things and walked around her.
“Good night Sophia. Don’t bug me unless it’s work related. ”
She didn’t fight me this time, which I appreciated.
I was very close to tears, because once again my life had been ruined by my past. By the manipulating that my ex to make sure that he was set up comfortably for life and I’d be left alone and fighting for every fucking relationship that came my way.
