21.
Kiara woke up and saw Ekansh getting ready, "office?" Ekansh nodded, grabbing his blazer and putting it on. "Yeah, I have an early meeting today."
He bent down and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, his hand lingering in her hair for a moment. "I'll be back before you know it."
Kiara smiled, "I was thinking of going to my makeup studio," Ekansh raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise in his expression. "Really? You want to go to the studio?"
He had known that she used to occasionally visit the makeup studio to check on things, but he also knew that it was a bit far away. A small frown of concern appeared on his face.
"Are you sure you want to go? It's quite a distance."
"Yeah I have to check a few things, it's been a long time since I have visited. I wanna check if everything is going smoothly." She explained.
Ekansh nodded, understanding her need to check on her business. "Alright, just be careful. Drive safe, and let me know when you reach there safely."
Kiara nodded with a smile, and got up from the bed. She walked towards him and hugged him.
Ekansh wrapped his arms around her, embracing her tightly. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her perfume.
...........
It was midnight, the couple was peacefully sleeping when Kiara's sleep broke, she looked at the clock and it 2 am, she looked at the night stand and there was no water.
She got up and walked out of the room in order to get water, She walked inside to get the water and after refilling the bottle she came back in the room just to witness Ekansh whispering something.
"Are you awake?" She asked but there was no answer from his side, she walked near him and bent to look at him, his eyes were closed but he was mumbling, "Ma, please don't leave me.".
Kiara frowned and checked his forehead, he had high fever. "Ma please don't leave me alone, Wake up." He mumbled again and a year escaped his eyes.
Kiara was heartbroken at the sight, The kid inside him still wants his mother knowing that's impossible.
"Ekansh!" She patted his cheeks. Ekansh's eyes snapped open, his breathing ragged and uneven. He looked disoriented for a moment, his mind still caught in the remnants of the dream that had haunted him.
He saw Kiara hovering over him, concern etched on her face. He lifted a hand and rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the residual images from his dream. "Kiara...?" he mumbled, his voice still groggy.
Kiara cupped his cheeks, "Are you ok baby? Was it a nightmare?"
He nodded, his eyes still heavy with sleep and lingering fear. "Yeah... it was just a nightmare," he mumbled, his voice hoarse.
He reached out to her, gently pulling her closer, seeking comfort in her presence. His hand found her hip, instinctively holding her close, as if anchoring himself to reality.
"You have fever, let me bring medicines for you." She whispered. He shook his head weakly, resisting her attempt to get up. "No, stay," he pleaded, his voice barely audible. He needed her closeness, her presence.
He tightened his grip on her hip, his fingers digging into her skin. "Don't go."
Kiara hugged him back, caressing his hairs slowly, making him more comfortable.
Ekansh buried his face in her chest, finding solace in her comforting touch. The nightmare lingered in his mind, but the sound of her heartbeat and the softness of her touch slowly soothed his frayed nerves.
He held her tighter, his arms wrapping around her waist as if he feared she would disappear if he let go. "Stay with me, please."
"I am right here, I am not leaving, never." She whispered and planted a gentle kiss on his forehead. She couldn't believe this man, who was always strong and bold was clinging to her like his life depends on her.
Ekansh closed his eyes, the warmth of her kiss on his forehead washing over him like a gentle caress. Her words echoed in his ears, assuring him that she was there, and she wasn't leaving.
He nuzzled his face deeper into her chest, seeking solace in the familiar scent of her skin. "I'm sorry," he apologized, his voice tinged with vulnerability. "I just... I needed you."
"There's nothing to be sorry about, let me go so I could bring medicines for you, you are burning, Husband." She whispered.
Ekansh nodded, albeit reluctantly, and loosened his grip on her. He knew she was right, he needed the medicines to bring down his fever, but the thought of letting her go, even for a moment, felt unbearable.
He released his grip entirely, laying back against the pillows with a resigned sigh. "Alright," he mumbled, his voice slightly hoarse. "But come back quickly."
..........
Kiara woke up early and made breakfast for him, she came back with the tray and looked at him who was wearing his tie while standing in front of the mirror.
"Where do you think you are heading to Mr. Shekhawat?" She raised an eyebrow after placing the breakfast on the table.
Ekansh turned around, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he took in the sight of Kiara with the breakfast tray. "Good morning, wife," he greeted, adjusting his tie as he walked towards the breakfast table.
He sat down, a hint of exhaustion still lingering in his eyes from the nightmare and subsequent fever. "I have to go to the office, unfortunately. I have important work to take care of today."
She walked towards him and removed his tie, "No work today, you are sick and you are not leaving until your fever is down."
She threw his tie and started unbuttoning his shirt, Ekansh chuckled, amused by her bossiness. He didn't resist her, allowing her to tend to him. "You're being quite dictatorial this morning, aren't you?" he teased, his voice tinged with playful annoyance.
As she unbuttoned his shirt, he couldn't help but admire her focused expression. "Are you always this stubborn in the mornings?"
"Yeah, because my husband just doesn't understand, Office and laptops are not his wife, I am." She said sarcastically.
Ekansh laughed heartily, his arms instinctively wrapped around her waist as he pulled her closer. "Is that so?" he teased, his gaze filled with amusement and affection.
He leaned close, his voice dropping to a huskier tone. "I wasn't aware I had a jealous wife."
"Yeah! I am jealous, Jealous enough to break that laptop of yours." She looked right into his eyes.
Ekansh chuckled at her possessive display. He pulled her even closer, their bodies pressing against each other. "Oh really? You'd destroy my laptop, huh?"
He leaned in, his lips hovering near her ear. "You know, it's quite adorable when you're jealous."
"Shut up!" She tried pushing him, Ekansh chuckled, enjoying her attempted resistance. Instead of moving away, he tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her even closer to him. He leaned in, his lips brushing against her earlobe, his breath hot against her skin.
"Why should I shut up when I'm enjoying the way you get all riled up?" he murmured, his voice dripping with amusement.
Her cheeks turned pink and she chuckled, "Stop," she whispered.
Just then a maid came at the door of their room as it was open, "Bhabhi-" she immediately turned around seeing the couple so close.
Kiara immediately pushed Ekansh and walked out of the room, to listen to the maid and give her whatever she needed.
Ekansh watched her walk out, a smirk playing at the corner of his mouth. He shook his head amusedly at the sudden interruption.
With Kiara gone, he took a seat back at the table to eat his breakfast. His mind wandered back to their playful banter, a smile tugging at his lips. He loved the way she got all possessive over him, even wanting to destroy his laptop. It was cute and endearing.
