Chapter 29 #3
I had slipped my comm into my pocket, so I didn’t worry about what was going on with Silva. Now I don’t know what's being said on the other end, but Syrus listens to the chatter, then turns to me.
“She’s fine,” he informs me, and my shoulders relax. If anything happened to my sister, I don’t know what I’d do.
“Fine is always relative when it comes to Silva. She will always minimize her pain levels,” I say, putting my earpiece back in.
I love my sister, but she’s so damn stubborn. I love her for it, though.
Now that I know my sister is safe, I it’s time we end this.
Their bodies are hung up in front of us. The very people who played the biggest part in the hell we went through in this mansion.
y attention, however, is on my sister. There’s a bruise forming on her cheek, and I can’t help but feel guilty. I know she chose to go off and do her own thing, she's her own person, but she’s my sister and I hate seeing her hurt. Meanwhile, not a hair on my head was harmed.
I know I had to play it safe, I have the baby to think about but I wish I could have done more to help. I wish she didn’t feel like she had to take on so much of this herself.
“Anyone want to help?” Harlan asks, picking up a mallet.
“Lexi and I can have a go at it,” Aries says, pulling me along.
Staring up at Gideon, I wrinkle my nose. Someone stripped him of his clothes. I could have gone my whole life without seeing him naked. Hishumiliation is worth it, though.
“Here,” Briar says, handing me a forked pick. “Have at it.” She nods toward Beth who is strung up beside Gideon.
Holding the forked pick in my hands, I grin, aybe a little too devilishly, and take a wack. The sound of iron hitting her flesh feels powerful.
I hit her again and again, the others eventually joining me.
I go until I’m out of breath and my arms hurt before I take a step back.
“Man, I needed that,” I laugh, feeling exhilarated.
“Should we wake this asshole up?” Isidro asks, setting a car battery on the ground.
“What is he going to do with that?” I whisper to Aries.
“Watch and see.” She grins.
I have a feeling things are about to get a lot more fucked up than they were when the guys went after Luke.
I’m part nervous, part excited.
They attach the car battery to Gideon’s toe, and his body starts to convulse. I can’t help but grin in satisfaction, finding this a lot more healing than I should.
e’re all wracked with trauma here, we deserve a pass.
His eyes snap wide open, and his mouth drops to release a scream.
“Rise and shine,” Briar murmurs.
I like it better when his eyes are closed. Seeing them now makes my stomach drop.
“Hey, G,” Silva says. “How ya doing, ole buddy, ole pal?”
“You should have been put down like dogs!” Gideon yells, breathing hard as he looks around the room.
“Yeah, yeah.” Silva shrugs, digging the weapon into his chest. I had no idea my sister had something like this in her.
Maybe I don’t know my sister as well as I thought I did.
I’m going to have to rectify that soon. We’ve had too much time apart, soonce we’re settled into our new lives and all the girls we saved tonight are situated, I’m adding a dose of Silva to my daily life again.
I miss her so damn much. “We aren’t going to lie on our backs, submit, or accept anything less than our freedom. Not ever.”
“You’ll do what you’re—”
“No Alpha barks!” Harlan yells. “Bad puppy. Behave for the nice, psycho Omegas.”
That makes me snort a laugh. I mean, he’s not wrong, we’re all a little crazy tonight. But it’s warranted, considering who’s before us right now.
I’m happy to take a step back from everything to watch my girls get their pound of flesh.
Sloane wraps his arms around me, and I breathe in his burnt marshmallow scent.
“How are you holding up, Kitten?”
“Surprisingly well,” I murmur, keeping my attention on what's going on in front of me. “A little sleepy, very hungry, but I’m good.”
“When we get home, I’m running you a bath, rubbing your feet, feeding you while you relax, then you’re going to bed.”
“By the time we get home, it’s going to be the middle of the night. We have too much to do, anyway. The girls need to get situated. I don’t think I’m going to be relaxing anytime soon.”
“Don’t make me tell Emmett on you,” he growls, nipping at my neck. “You can help out with the girls, and also take care of yourself.” He lowers his voice. “And the little one inside you.”
That has me sighing. “You’re right.”
“Sleep when we get home, tomorrow we can do the rest.”
“You'd better wash your hands before you feed me,” I warn him. “Because I don't need to be tasting my own feet.”
He gives me an amused look. “And people say I’m weird.”
“Because you are.” I grin.
“Brat,” he growls playfully.
“Sausage or knot first is the question,” Silva ponders, making everyone laugh. My eyes widen, and I giggle.
Sloane stares at my sister with horror. “She’s kind of scary,” he whispers in my ear, making me grin wide. Don’t fuck with Silva.
The girls continue to fuck with Gideon as I watch with a sense of messed-up glee.
Then the fucker tries to spit on Lark, and something inside me snaps.
“You need to learn some manners,” I growl, pulling the knife from my boot, before grabbing a chair so I can stand on it.
“Careful,” Sloane cautions, standing behind me.
“I will be,” I murmur, reaching up to slap Gideon across the face, loving the sound of my hand cracking against his cheek. Gonna need a lot of hand sanitizer for what I’m about to do.
“You bitch—!”
Yeah, I don’t want to hear him talk anymore. I shove my hand into his mouth and pull out his tongue. I work quickly, slicing it clean off. Blood sprays, and I grin as Gideon chokes on it.
“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” Sloane crows.
He grabs me by the hips, lifting me off the chair and into his arms.
“That was so fucking hot. You have no idea how hard my cock is,” he growls, kissing me hard.
I giggle into his lips, feeling just how hard he is.
We move to the side and out of the way.
“Hmmm. This looks fun,” Luna muses, lifting the crossbow from the table. “I used to watch archery on television, and always wondered how hard it would be to use one of these.”
“Let’s see what ya got!” I cheer her on as she hits Beth in the shoulder.
“Women don’t groom Omegas to be sold,” Silva says. “They don’t deserve to be called that. I’m offended by the sight of them.”
My jaw drops to the ground as I watch my sister cut off Beth’s and Viv’s boobs! Holy fuck. I think I'm going to be sick. But I’m also disturbingly impressed.
“It’s an improvement,” I admit. “You know what always used to piss me off? The way their fingernails would click when they’d lecture us.”
“You want me to pull off their nails, baby, or do you want the pleasure?” Sloane asks, picking up some pliers.
His crazy is coming out, and it’s calling to mine. Maybe I’m a lot more fucked in the head than I thought.
“I think you should do it together,” Luna suggests. “It’s a great relationship-building activity.”
I’m oddly focused as I pull off Viv’s fingernails one by one. I hate anything to do with nails, they give me the heebie-jeebies. I’m so glad this is her and not me right now.
One at a time, we end Viv and Beth's lives. Not a single drop of remorse or guilt is in this room. They got what they deserved.
Now it’s time for the main show. Two down, one more to go.
Your time is up, Gideon. Hope you rot in hell.
“Has everyone made their statement on Gideon’s body?” Isidro asks. “Anything else that comes to mind?”
“Devil,” Silva says, looking as if she’s in pain. “Would someone like to do the honors for me? I’m not feeling so hot.”
“I got you,” I offer up. If my sister isn’t in shape to do this, I want to.
Isidro hands me the brand. I take it, the iron heavy in my hand. Finding an untouched part of Gideon’s body, I press forward, the sound of his sizzling skin fills my ears, and he releases a weak as fuck scream. He doesn’t have any fight left in him.
Gross. The smell of burning flesh fucking stinks.
Sloane takes the brand from me and pulls me to the side.
Isidro tells us to watch from the other side of the room as he gets Gideon ready for the grand finale.
We all move out of the way and wait.
Isidro pulls a pin, and boom, the motherfucker is in a million little pieces.
A rush of joy fills me knowing he’s finally gone. How fucked up is that when there are body parts scattered all over the room?
I’m not sure if I’m going to end up with nightmares after this or not, but at least when I wake up, I’ll know he’s really gone.
The guys drench the basement in gasoline, and that's when I know it’s time to go. Isidro says as much, and we all get the hell out of there.
“Such a great exit,” Aiden says, joining us. My face lights up at the sight of my Alpha. I was worried. I’m glad he's okay.
We're all covered in various amounts of blood. I don’t have much on me, but severed tongues do get messy. The fingernails weren't too bad.
“What about Kyren, Harlan, and Syrus?” Silva asks weakly.
“Working on some things,” Aiden tells her. “We’re leaving them an SUV. Everything is fine. Last I heard, Syrus was hiding out with Kyren, deleting information from Gideon’s database. Harlan hasn’t told them where his central hub of information is located, and they’re still clearing the estate.”
“Will they be safe?” she asks.
“Yes,” Aiden says gently. “They’re in the safe room of the office. It’s not on any of the blueprints. Kyren only found it by dumb luck. They’re good.”
By the time we get to the cars, Silva is fast asleep in her Beta’s arms.
“Sleep well, Firefly,” I tell her, giving her arm a touch before I get inside our vehicle.
“Let’s get you to bed,” Aiden says.
My eyes feel heavy as the adrenaline crash starts to set in. “Yeah.” I blink my eyes closed, leaning my head against the window. “Let’s go home.”
Home. With my Alphas. Where I belong.
I passed out well before we got back to Widows Peak. I’m vaguely aware of Sloane carrying me inside.
They all help strip me out of my dirty clothes and give me a quick bath before drying me off and getting me dressed in their clothes.
When we’re tucked into bed, the two Alphas on either side of me, I listen to their voices in that weird state where I’m asleep but not fully unconscious yet.
“That was one hell of a night,” Aiden whispers to Sloane.
“Our girl was a badass,” Sloane chuckles softly. “She’s a little psychopath when she wants to be. It’s pretty hot.”
“I bet she was. I’m sad I missed it,” Aiden responds.
“As much fun as tonight was, I’m putting Lexi on a ban. No more excitement like that for a long, long time. She can fight me on it, but I’ll pull the baby card.”
“I agree. I don’t want to tell her what to do, and I understand why she needed to be there.
But it’s over now, her demons are gone from this earth, and no new ones will be formed as long as we’re breathing.
It’s time for her to rest, to heal, and live the life she deserves without the fear of her past lurking in the shadows. ”
“We’re going to give them the best damn life possible,” Sloane vows.
“Damn right.”
“I love them,” Sloane says a moment later.
“Yeah, me too. We never stood a chance.”
“Fuck no, we didn’t. I’m pretty sure I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on both of them.”
“We’re going to be dads,” Aiden states, as if it’s just hitting him. “Sloane, is this real? Are we really getting everything we’ve ever dreamed of?”
“Damn right we are, and it’s all thanks to our amazing Omegas. We don’t fucking deserve them,” he snorts. “But I sure as hell plan on showing them just how much I’m blessed they decided to keep us as their Alphas."
“It’s us against the world now,” Aiden says.
“Just how it should be.”
I like the sound of that. We’re not alone anymore. Emmett and I are exactly where we’re supposed to be. Together with them. A home. A family. Pack.
