Chapter 14 The Fall
Well I made the team, Ms. Baker said I did amazing. Practice went fine other than Sam's girlfriend glaring at me the entire time. It was kind of funny when he brought me my water. Her face turned red and I swear steam was coming out of her ears.
The best part was at the end when I walked over to him and she was talking to him.
"Hey peanut ready to go?" He asked taking my backpack. She turned around facing away from him but towards me and gave me a death glare.
"Who's this Sam?" She asked through clenched teeth.
"This is Kat my little sister that we went to get over the weekend." He smiled from ear to ear as he put his arm around my shoulders. "Kat this is Tiffany my girlfriend that I was telling you about."
Tiffany gave me a forced smile "Kat what a pleasure to meet you. We will have to hang out sometime. I bet living in a house full of boys can be hard. Maybe we can do girl things like get our nails done."
I gave her a fake smile back. "Sounds perfect."
"You two will get along great." Sam said in a chipper tone not reading the tension at all. "Well babe I got to get her to Reuben's class so we can head home. I will see you tomorrow." He let go of me and gave her a quick kiss then lead me to Reuben's.
"I am so ready for dinner. I am starving." I groaned as we walked the halls.
"We will get you a snack when we get home. You did amazing in cheer today." He smiled as we walked.
"Thank you. Is everyone waiting in Reubens room?"
"No Wes and Jere got in trouble so Logan took them home."
"Yikes what did they do?"
"Well Wes told his teacher to fuck off and then Jere hit a kid."
"Damn so are they suspended?"
"No they will have in school suspension tomorrow and of course an ass beating from probably Ben."
"Well they are screwed." I felt bad for them they were just in trouble yesterday and now again today.
"Even more so for Wes since the teacher he said that to was Logan." Sam said as to took a drink from my water causing me to cough and choke on it in shock.
"Nooooo." I said once I could breath.
"Yup the dumb ass sure did. But hopefully Ben will be done taring into them when we get there and we can check on them." He shrugged "Now shush about it cause Reuben's room is up ahead.
We turned into a room and in the front of the room in a corner was a teachers desk. That's were I saw Reuben concentrating hard on some papers.
"Hey Reuben." Sam said pulling his attention from his papers.
"Hey you two how was cheer practice?" He smiled
"Good coach Baker put me on the team." I bounced with joy.
"That's awesome good job sweetie. Okay let's go home. Ben wants you in his office to pick out stuff for your room." Reuben stood up and grabbed his backpack and laptop.
We got back to the house and I was still not used to seeing it yet. I still stared at it in shock. When we got in Sam showed me to Ben's office. I was thankful he did because this place was like a maze.
"Hey there Princess how was your first day?" Ben asked as I entered his office.
"It was okay I guess. Kind of boring to be honest. The cheer coach put me on the cheer team though." I smile siting down in one of the chairs in front of his desk.
What will kat do when she is faced with the people she and her brother love. Will she be able to choose who she will be with. Or will she leave them all behind? She neve...
"That's awesome!" He smiled as he stood up walking over to the chair next to me plopping down with his laptop. "Okay little miss let's get to work." He pulled up different things and let me pick everything for my room. I got a blue and purple comforter, a desk, decorations for the room and even my bathroom. The coolest thing is he let me get a chair that hangs from the ceiling.
"Okay that stuff is going to be hear tomorrow and we will have people painting your room while you're at school. So it will be ready tomorrow." He smiled as I said yay and thank you about a million times over. "Do you have any homework?"
"Yeah a little bit but not much."
"Okay you can do it in here if you like or anywhere."
"Can I do it in the library?"
"Yeah it's a good quite relaxing place. Sam likes to do his homework in there too."
"Cool, um Ben...."
"Yeah?" He said as he rounded his desk to sit back in his seat.
"Some of my homework is online."
"Oh yeah? Well I guess you might need this." He pulled a box from under his desk handing it to me.
"OMG IS THIS A LAPTOP?" I squealed looking at the brand new MacBook.
"Yes however you're still grounded so I want it back as soon as you're done with your homework understand?" He said in a stern voice.
"Yes sir I understand."
"Good now go get your homework done." He waved me on going back to his work. I went off to the Library settling into a seat. I opened up the new laptop and set it up. Once done I quickly opened up one of my google docs labeled Jaz and Kat. It was a way we talked to each other in class without the teachers noticing.
Me: Hey Jaz I miss you!
I typed and then put it in half the screen then pulling up my homework on the other half. It wasn't long till I saw words being typed on the google doc.
Jaz: Hey! Omg how was your first day of school? Today wasn't the same without you here. I miss you too.
Me: It was okay I guess. Kind of boring to be honest. The cheer coach saw me and asked if I would join the team so that's a plus. Oh and I meet Sam's girlfriend.
Jaz: Was she nice?
Me: Well considering she slapped me, called me a whore and told me to stay away from her man.
Jaz: Holy shit, so she's crazy? Did you tell Sam?
Me: Yeah seems to be. But no I didn't tell Sam. I don't want to come in and ruin anything for my brothers. Maybe she will learn to like me. Hopefully finding out I was his sister help.
Jaz: Maybe I just can't believed she slapped you!
Me: Well it was a weak slap so I am not that worried.
"Hey Kat whatcha doing?" I looked up to see Sam walking towards me. I quickly closed out of my google doc and smiled at him.
"Just working on homework. I like it in here it is peaceful." I smile.
"I feel the same. Most the time I do my homework in here." Sam sat down across from me.
"I can leave if you want. This was your spot first."
"Nope it is perfectly fine. I can share my spot with you." He smiled opening his laptop.
"Awesome! Thank you." I nodded and go back to my work. Once I was done I gave Ben my laptop back and waited for dinner. Once we ate Ben let me FaceTime the Smiths. I told them all about my day, well all except the slap.
The night went by fast and so did the rest of the week. The next day Ben wasn't kidding about my room being done when I got home. It was amazing and he ever put up pictures of the Smiths and even some that we took over the weekend at the rodeo with my brothers. It was a great room.
I felt like Friday came around fast and it was my first game. All the boys decide to come to the football game making it a big deal saying since it was my first they all needed to cheer me on. Kind of ironic since I was cheering I guess.
The game went pretty smooth until the end when the coach came up to me. "Kat one of my high school girls is sick and you're the only middle school girl I trust to fly with my high school girls. Do you think you could stay and cheer for the high school game?"
"Sure I will just have to ask my brothers." I smiled and made my way to Ben and the boys.
"Hey Princess! You're doing great out there." Reuben said as I got close to them.
"Thanks Reu. Hey can we stay for the high school game? Coach says she needs another flyer cause one of theirs is sick." I smile as Bruce handed me a water bottle.
"Don't see why not." Ben nodded.
"Ugh I have to watch her get thrown around for another football game? This is going to give me a heart attack and I am only twenty five. I swear I hold my breath every time they throw you up. What if they don't catch you?" Logan said shaking his head in distress.
"It will hurt." I laugh "but that won't happen this is why we practice. I trust these girls. Plus they know what they are doing."
"Lord help my heart." He said as he looked to the sky. Ugh can you say mello dramatic.
After another minute or too I made my way back to the track where we cheered. Coach Baker then introduced me to my stunt team and guess who was on it. Tiffany was one of my bases oh lord help me. The game was going great and there were no problems from Tiffany as we cheered, tumbled, and stunted.
We were about half way through the game when we went into a basket toss where I would hit a toe touch. Everything was perfect till I hit the ground. It was like slow motion as I came down I pulled my legs together then my arms setting up for the landing. As I came down I felt hands hit my right side however the left side felt nothing. It was as if Tiffany didn't even bother to catch me. That's when the realization hit that I was going to hit the ground. As a last stitch effort I tried to grab my other base Morgan and she tried to grab me a different way noticing she has no help from Tiffany. She tried to hold me by my right arm and leg but instead of that saving me it just made it so my left leg and arm hit the track.
I screamed out in pain as the track scrapped my arm leg and side. Tears quickly pooling in my eyes. Morgan quickly kneeled down to my side with worried eyes. "Oh my God Kat are you okay?"
Before I could answer the coach was right there. "Kat are you okay? Anything feel broken?" Her voice was full of panic.
"No just burns." I manage to crock out through the tears.
"KAT!" I looked over to see all my brothers racing over to assess the damage.
"Kat baby are you okay? Is anything broken? What hurts?" Bruce was the first to talk kneeling down next to me as did Ben and Reuben.
"My side burns." I whined looking at all of my brothers around me.
"Can we roll you over love?" Reuben asked and I nodded. As he gently helped me turn onto my right side I groaned and I heard all of them gasp. I looked up to see Tiffany smiling happily at her work and all my pain and hurt turned to rage.
