Chapter 15 Ouch That Hurt

At this point everyone was assessing the damage to my left side. Jeremiah had ran to the other side of the field to get the EMT's that came to every game in case someone got hurt. While everyone else was focused on me. That was until we heard the crying. My gaze landed on goes who..... Tiffany! That bitch was a crying blubbering mess. She pulled everyone's focus to her for a split second and started to whale that she was so sorry and how she didn't mean to. Saying I came down wrong.

To no surprise Sampson jumped up and wrapped his arms around her. "It's okay babe. No one is mad at you accidents happen."

Not mad at her my ass. And an accident? That's bullshit I came down perfect she did that on purpose. But she got what she wanted she hurt me and got Sampson to feel bad for her all in one big swoop.

It didn't take long for the EMT's to show up and everyone moved letting them assess me.

"Coach can I talk to you for a second?" Morgan whispered to the coach. They both moved a little bit away but were close enough that I could hear them whispering as long as I concentrated. Which no one else was doing because they were all talking to the EMT's.

"Coach she came down perfect, I don't understand how Tiffany missed her. It's like she didn't even try to save the catch at all." Morgan whispered as she got choked up on her tears. I felt bad for her she was beating herself up about this. "I tried so hard to catch her by myself when I realized but I couldn't get ahold of her." She sobbed as she looked at Baker. "However Tiffany let Kat fall."

"Thank you for letting me know I will look into it farther." Coach said and gave her a hug trying to calm her down.

"We need to take her to the hospital so they can clean this out real good and then give her pain meds." The EMT said pulling my focus back to her.

"Okay let go, can I ride with you? I am her guardian." Ben asked and the EMT said of course. They got me on the stretcher much to my dismay, a movement made my entire left side of my body burn.

Once in the ambulance Ben answered all the questions for me. It was kind of shocking that he knew all that, he even knew my social security number. I barely remember that. Once he was done answering all the questions he looked at me.

"How you holding up Princess?"

"It burns but I will live." I tried to give him a smile.

"You're a trooper. Bruce is calling the Smiths I am sure they will want to FaceTime you as soon as you feel up to it." He smiled grabbing my right hand and squeezing.

"Ben how bad is my uniform?"

"Eeeehhhh we will buy you a new one." He shrugged.

"Ben?"

"Yeah?"

"Is Logan okay?"

He shock his head a little. "Well he didn't have a heart attack but he turned white as a ghost I thought he might pass out. He might protest you doing cheer anymore."

"Can I keep doing cheer?" I asked bitting my bottom lip.

"Well I feel like you might have to take off a little time to heal. However accidents happen all the time. Wes broke his ribs last year when a pitcher hit him with the ball. This happen when you play sports. You're just the baby and I know it sounds sexiest but you're the one and only girl in the family so Logan just sees it different."

"Why don't you?"

"Oh I do when I saw your side for the first time I swore to myself you would never cheer again but then I calmed down. I had to remind myself that things happen and although this is bad you will be okay you just will have to heal. There are a lot worse things that you can do other than cheer." He squeezed my hand and the EMT let us know we made it to the hospital. They got me into the ER and took me straight to a room. A nurse and a doctor came in not much longer after the EMT's left.

What will kat do when she is faced with the people she and her brother love. Will she be able to choose who she will be with. Or will she leave them all behind? She neve...

"Yikes that's a nasty thing of road rash. Let's get your cleaned up. I will fair warn you this is going to sting. We will give you some pain meds and some cream to put in it everyday." She gave me a soft smile. "We will get you some meds to help you with us cleaning the wounds. She said as the nurse put an IV in my air and hooked me up to fluids before adding the medicine into it.

Ben stayed with me the entire time and Reuben came in and sat with us. "Hey there sweetie how you feeling?"

"Okay I think the medicine is helping." I said as I felt my eyelids get heavy.

"When did they say they would clean it?" He asked looking at Ben.

"Soon I hope they said that they would give the meds a minute to kick in." Ben sighed with his face fulling with worry and exhaustion.

"Okay time to get you cleaned up." The doctor came in with some supplies. She wasn't kidding when she said that it would sting. She started with my arm which was scrapped from my shoulder to my elbow. Next was my side which had be scrapped from the bottom of my ribs to the top of my hip. Then my thigh and calf were scrapped. Each spot she cleaned had me crying out in pain.

Ben and Reuben were troopers though they stayed by my side and told me how great I was doing. When the doctor was finally done I was overly exhausted. When we finally got to go home I knocked out in the car. I have no clue what the doctor told them we had to do but I was just hoping my brothers listened. Once we got home Reuben woke me up not wanted to carry me and hurt my wounds.

"Come on let's get you in and to bed." He said grabbing my hand and walking me up the stairs.

Everyone fallowed us and surrounded my bed.

"Katherine I don't think I can do that again." Logan was the first to speak. "That scared the shit out of me." He said and Reuben smacked him in the back of the head. "What?" Logan groaned rubbing the spot on his head. "It's true I almost had a heart attack."

"Okay little bro let's go!" Reuben said kissing my head and pulling Logan out.

"I am glad you're okay baby sis." Wes said kissing the top of my head too.

"Same, sleep tight." Jere said as they both walked out.

"Get your rest hon if you need anything call." Bruce said squeezing my hand and walking away.

"Kat I am so glad you're okay. That was scary and Tiffany feels awful she is so tore up." Sam said sitting in the side of my bed.

I rolled my eyes. "I am sure she is."

His face turned hard and he looked at me in disbelief. "Kat come on it was an accident. Plus she said you came down wrong."

"I came down perfect Sam and little miss poor pitiful me knows it. That wasn't an accident." I seethed I can't believe he was buying her bullshit.

"Katherine how could you! She feels awful and you're blaming her. I thought your weren't that petty. I have been dating her for a long time and she would never do anything to hurt anyone." He growled out as his face turned red.

"Whatever Sampson, of course you would believe her I mean you have know her longer. However why would I lie about that?" I took a deep breath shaking my head.

"I don't know cause you were raised by a slut who did all kinds of drugs and had more alcohol in her body than blood. You are probably just like that bitch a lying drugged out mess." His face turned redder as he spoke and the burning in my side moved to the back of my mind as anger of my own built up.

"That's it Sampson go to your room! We will talk about this later." Ben stepped forward putting his hand on Sam's shoulder.

"Fine I am done with her anyways." Sam said and stormed out of the room leaving just Ben and I.

"You really think she did it on purpose?" Ben asked looking at me with mixed emotions on his face. I saw flashes of anger, worry, exhaustion and just sadness.

I nod and sigh. "Morgan thought so too. I heard her telling coach. She didn't even try to catch me Ben. I never once felt her hands. I have slipped and fallen durning practice on our mats several times growing up. If two people tried to catch me then it would have hurt but probably not been as bad."

"Okay I will be talking to your coach about it. Get some rest and don't worry about what Sam said he didn't mean it." Ben kissed my forehead and went to walk out the door.

Before he was all the way out I mumbled out loud enough for him to hear. "He meant every word."
