Chapter 31 Surprise
"So what's going on with you and Wes?"
"What are you talking about?"
She gave me an all knowing look. "I saw the death glare he was giving you and felt how tense you were."
I shake my head as what the boys said in Logan's classroom came crashing into my mind. I sighed and started to tell her what I said and then what they said.
"Kat they were being ass holes. You were going to apologies and they said such hurtful things. You were joking and it wasn't even that bad. What they said was ten times worse." She pulled me into a hug as I started to cry. After a bit I pulled away using my shirt to wipe my face. "So on a different note who was the cute boy that I saw you huge?"
I smile as I blush. "That's Alex he's one of the cutest guys in our grade and he lives right down the road." I gasp as Jaz ask what's wrong. "He is probably waiting on me to text him." I rush over to my desk and open the top drawer where I put the paper that he wrote his number on days ago. I typed it into my phone and then texted him.
Me- Hey it's Kat
Alex-Hey thought you forgot about me or maybe didn't get your phone back.
Me- Didn't forget just got distracted.
Alex- Was it because of the guy you ran to when you left me? Should I be jealous?
Me- Haha of Jason? No way he is my brother, well like my brother. Well it's a long story but him, his twin sister, and parents took me in like I was theirs and when I moved here with my actual brothers I left them behind and haven't seen them other then on FaceTime in a bit.
Alex- Oh that's cool I hope I can meet him one day.
Me- He would love that, he would like you and you would like him.
Alex-How long are they here for?
Me- A week.
Alex- Maybe you can bring them over and we can go riding. Do they know how to ride?
Me- Yes but they don't ride fancy English.
"Fancy English?" Jaz asked as she read over my shoulder.
"I joked with him and told him he was a rich boy cause he knows how to ride english."
She stares at me in shock for a minute and then shakes her head. "Kat you can ride english, you ride hunt seat when you jump."
I giggle nodding. "I know but he doesn't know that." She laughs with me as I get a text from Ben saying that the pizza is here. We went downstairs into the kitchen.
"Can Jaz, Jase, and I eat in the theater?" I ask looking at Ben.
"No you all can eat in the dining room with all the family then go watch a movie." He nudged me towards the door that goes to the dining room.
I sigh going and sitting down as I look up to see my three younger brothers glaring at me. My entire body tenses and I feel Jaz sitting next to me nudging me with her shoulder and Jase plops down on the other side. I could see Jase side eyeing me and glancing to the boys but he stayed silent as my oldest brothers talked to Momma and Pa.
Towards the end I could see Ben glancing from me to Wes and Jere. "Hey Wes, Jere, and Kat stay here when everyone leaves." He says in a monotone voice. We all give a curt nod and once the twins are done eating Reuben goes to show them where the theater is while Momma and Pa fallow.
"What's going on with you three?" Ben cuts straight to the point. We all just sit there for a minute and stare at him. "The tension is thick and you boys keep glaring at her. So someone tell me why now."
After another minute I sigh. "I took a joke a little far and I upset Wes. I apologized but I understand he is still upset. When he is ready to forgive me I will be waiting to talk it out." I bull shitted my way through the entire spiel as I look at Ben.
Ben raised one of his eyebrows looking from Wes to me. "Okayyyy... I am going to let you all work this out yourselves for now." He gave us both a long hard look. "You're all excused."
Without question we all jump up and go our own way. I get to the home theater and find Jase and Jaz fighting over what to watch. They both look up to me and Jase got up pulling me into a hug.
"Jaz told me what happened I am sorry those assholes said that about you. You're nothing like that woman."
"Thanks Jase. I am just so glad you all are here. I missed y'all so much and this week would have been hard alone." I mumble into his chest not wanting to let him go. "Where is Momma and Pa?"
"Momma wanted to go take a shower and Pa went to go talk to Reuben for a bit. They said they would come back in a few but to start without them. I nod as we get settled in and finally all agree on a movie. Ma, Pa, Reuben, Logan and Ben all end up joining us half way through and stayed as we watch another one.
I ended up falling asleep towards the first twenty minutes of the third movie. It had been a long day and a shitty one. At least the one thing that I really wanted and needed happened. The four people that actually love me are here for an entire week.
