Chapter 19 #3
This was a normal day for us as of lately.
He was up before the sun, at the gym with Johnathan, then he came back to feed me before I went to work, and either stayed at the house watching film or getting extra workouts with Johnathan.
The two of them had friends who played for the StormClouds so they had access to all the professional gym equipment they needed.
Usually after work, I was greeted with some combination of dick, head, and dinner.
Then we stayed up under each other all night until we woke up and did it all over again the next day.
I wasn’t even usually a homebody, but I couldn’t think of anything outside that was comparable to our little routine.
We had decided to keep things under wraps for as long as possible to attempt to minimize the fallout of going public.
“Damn, she missed me today, huh?” he asked as he held onto my hips, because the way he was tearing me up would have easily had me doing a somersault over the couch.
“Mmhmm,” I moaned. “She always misses you so much!”
He grunted while pushing my head down.
“Shut up and let me fuck you, Amaya.” I smiled and followed directions for once, focusing on my orgasm that was rapidly approaching.
I couldn’t believe this nigga was turning me out like this without even letting me get out of my work clothes.
I was gonna have to cook him something, anything… spaghetti, maybe?
“Now who you call yourself cutting off?” he asked as his body drove me to insanity.
“Nobodyyyy! I didn’t mean it! I’m sorryyyyy!” I cried out. I made a vow to ride the shit out of him later because I had a reputation to uphold, and he wasn’t about to keep embarrassing me like this.
“Good! Because if you keep talkin’ shit about my Altima, next time I’ma take you outside and fuck you on top of that motherfucka’ so all your nosey ass neighbors can see!
” I let out a laugh that was also a moan because that man always said the craziest shit when he was inside of me, and the craziest part was that I let him.
“I told you that I had what you need to make that ass act right,” he teased later when he finally let me up.
“You wanna bet?” I teased, pulling him in for a kiss, still talking shit like he hadn’t worn my ass out. I wanted nothing more than to be bathed, fed, and cuddled up in bed watching a crime documentary while he complained about me rubbing my cold feet on him.
“Aye, lil’ nigga! Ya mama said—” The unmistakable voice of my older brother had me scrambling to pull my dress back down. Chase pulled his shorts back up, immediately on alert and wondering who this nigga was busting in my house at 6:30 on a weeknight.
“AJ!” I snapped as he appeared in the living room. “You have a key for emergencies, not to just be popping up over here!”
“Nigga, according to ya’ mama, this is an emergency! She sent me over here on a damn welfare check because you haven’t been answering her calls,” he fussed as he eyed us curiously.
“Shit!” I sucked my teeth and pulled my phone out of my purse to see five missed calls.
One thing a Black Mama was gon’ do was overreact when you didn’t answer her call.
I had spoken to her on my drive home from work and was supposed to let her know when I made it, but clearly something else came up. “I got… busy.”
“Yeah… I see,” he chuckled as his eyes once again wandered between Chase and me.
“Uh,” I said, clearing my throat. “Chase, this is my brother, AJ. AJ, this is Chase.”
“Nice to meet you,” AJ said, still stayed planted in the doorway. I assumed he opted out of the handshake which was good because I knew where those hands had been.
“Likewise,” Chase said. “I wish we could have met on a… less awkward occasion, but nice to meet you too.”
“So… y’all fuckin’?” he blurted out with his eyes narrowed. He wouldn’t be my brother if he didn’t shout out the first inappropriate thing that came to his mind.
“Andre!” I snapped.
“What? That’s a valid question! The nigga in here half naked, you look like somebody put you through the spin cycle. So, this is why you dropped his case!” he said, pointing an accusatory finger at me like he and the Mystery Gang had just foiled my evil plan.
“Yes, and that’s why we’re trying to keep it quiet,” I said through tight lips with a warning in my eyes. I knew he would keep our secret safe from the world, but my family? Oh, they would probably know by the time he made it to the fucking car.
“I’ll try my best, but you know Mama is part bloodhound. It’s just a matter of time until she finds out on her own. Wait… That’s you in that lil’ ass Altima outside?” he asked, his eyes darting back to the door. I shot Chase the most asshole look I could as his face dropped.
“It’s a rental…” he mumbled. “I came up last minute, and it was all that I could get.”
“Cool… Well uh, it was nice to meet you. I’ma get out of y’all’s way…
Amaya, call Mama, please,” he said as he backed towards the door before slipping out of it.
Chase didn’t say much as I retreated to the bathroom so I could go get my ass in the shower while he reheated our food that had grown cold.
When I came back to a perfectly reheated plate of shrimp tacos for me and shrimp, rice, and veggies for him, he was still being quiet. I glanced at the counter to see that he had his tablet unlocked on a page open of trucks for sale.
“You know you don’t have to get rid of the car,” I huffed and rolled my eyes. I wasn’t that superficial.
“Nah, I just don’t want your people thinking I’m not capable of taking care of you,” he said bashfully.
“I’ll take the car back tomorrow. Plus, it would make more sense for me to have something more long term for the time I plan on spending here in between work…
if you don’t mind.” My mouth hit the floor as I looked at him in awe.
“What now, Amaya?” he dragged out, rolling his eyes at me.
“Nothing,” I said, smiling into my plate of food. The fact that he was thinking more long term had me giddy like a fiend in a traphouse, but I could never say that to him.
Mom
Amaya, who is this man you got holed up over there in that house?
Me
AJ! You literally promised!
AJ
It wasn’t me! You know Mama be doing Jazzercise with that nosey lady down the street.
Mom
It’s a spin class!
Me
Get it right, sucka!
Mom
No ma’am. Still waiting on an answer on who the hell you got hostage over there.
Me
Not hostage! This man is free to come and go as he pleases… He just don’t wanna leave.
AJ
I wouldn’t wanna leave either if I was driving that tiny deathtrap of a car.
Me
Don’t do that. He gave it back and got a nice, sensible truck. Thank you.
AJ
Good, bc that nigga got way too much money to be driving that hoopty!
Mom
So, Jr… You know who the mystery man is?
AJ
I do, and I’m willing to spill the beans for a price.
Me
AJ!!!
AJ
can’t say no names, but it’s one of her recent clients whose name rhymes with “Vase”
Amari
Sis, you represented Mase?!
Me
Amari, get yo ass off my phone!
Mom
Amaya, girl you better watch it!
Daddy
Well, now that I know, I expect to see a two time Super Bowl Champion at our cookout in two weeks.
Me
Daddy!
Daddy
That wasn’t a request either. If he’s good enough to be laid up at your house for Lord knows how long, then he’s good enough to come introduce himself like a real nigga.
Mom
I second that.
AJ
I third that.
Me
Ugh! Y’all know I hate when y’all jump me! Fine, but don’t embarrass me! I kinda like him a little bit.
Amari
WAIT! Who played in the Super Bowl?
Me
GOOD NIGHT FAMILY!
