Chapter Nine

If I could fuck the word friend out of her mouth, I would. She’s never just been my friend. It’s not that fucking simple.

She is, and has always been, more.

Leaning between her legs, I lick her from hole to clit, her taste lighting up my tastebuds, musky and sweet and fucking mine.

My fingers bite into her flesh as I bury my face further into her perfect pussy, punching my tongue into her before I part her lips with it, moving up to that little bundle of nerves. I circle her clit, her whimpers like damn music to my ears.

I should have guessed she’d feel confused this morning, but I didn’t expect her to run out like that.

We don’t do that to each other. And yeah, I’m a little pissed because of it.

I’d held myself back from chasing after her, gave her a little bit of space, but I am a desperate, needy man, I’ll admit it.

She has me by the throat.

“Oh fuck,” she cries as I suck her clit into my mouth, hand sinking into my hair to tug at it, holding me closer. Who needs fucking air anyway?

How can she deny how good we are?

I lick and I suck, learning her body and what she likes. How she mewls when I tease her clit with the tip of my tongue, how she cries when I fuck her with a single finger. She is drenched for me, weeping against my mouth, soaking my hand.

And goddamn, she is beautiful.

“Noah,” she moans my name, the sound shooting straight to my hard cock. From the front of the store, the bell above the door jingles as a customer enters.

“Hello?” They call.

“Noah!” she hisses but keeps her hand on my head, forcing me to stay between her legs and on my knees.

“Mm,” I hum against her and grin when I hear the thud of her back hitting the desk, hips rolling, seeking more of that vibration. Oh, how much fun I could have with her. She’s so damn responsive, her body made for mine and everything I can give it.

“Someone’s here,” she whimpers. “Oh fuck. Please.”

I sink two fingers inside of her, reveling in the way she clenches around them, sucking me in and love on her clit, driving her up the peak.

“Hello?” the customer calls again. “I have a collection.”

“I’ll uh,” Sidney’s voice shakes as she shouts to the front of the store, “I’ll be right there.”

“Is everything okay?” The customer asks.

“Noah,” she whispers, “Please.”

I pull away from her. “Then come for me, Sidney.”

She moans loudly when I return my attention to her pussy, thrusting my fingers into her.

“Do you need help?” The customer yells.

“I’m coming!” Sidney calls. “I’ll be right—“

She shatters, her palm slapping over her own mouth as she falls apart on top of the desk, coming all over my fucking tongue. I take it all, savoring her taste, wanting and craving more.

“Ma’am?”

She twitches as she comes down from the high, body going soft and relaxed as her chest heaves. Putting her panties back in place and righting her skirt, I help her sit up, holding onto her when she wobbles a little, her eyes hooded, skin flushed.

“I’m really sorry,” the customer calls again, “I’m on a bit of a time crunch.”

Sidney’s eyes widen, “Shit.” She hops off the desk, smoothing her hands down her outfit, but nothing will erase the evidence of what I just did to her. “You stay here!” She orders as she rushes out to the front of the store.

“I’m so sorry,” she speaks quickly, words tumbling together, but there’s a tremble to her tone, and I smirk, leaning on the desk as I wait for her to finish up. I can’t stay much longer; I have a meeting in twenty minutes that I need to attend.

She finishes up with the customer and waves them goodbye, leaving us alone again.

She wets her mouth before a smile lifts her lips and she shakes her head, “We really shouldn’t be doing this, Noah.”

I match her smile. “Perhaps not. You want to stop?”

Her head shakes lightly, “Not really.”

I turn my wrist and check the time. “I’ve got to run.”

“Wait,” her brows lower, “Do you not need to handle that?” She pointedly looks at my cock where it’s pressing against my zipper hard.

“You can handle it later,” I give her a wink and move past her. “You'd better grab yourself some lunch; I’ve already had mine.”

“Noah!” she barks her laugh, and I leave with that sound ringing inside my head.

I know this thing is temporary, that we will only continue for as long as it takes for me to get her pregnant, but I’m not entirely sure how I’m meant to stop.

There was nothing selfless about me offering to do this for her; my intentions were so far from pure I have no doubt they’ve just secured me a one-way ticket to hell.

I walk the short distance back to my office building, taking the elevator up to my level and walk through, passing the cubicles of staff until I can slip into my office.

Lauren, my PA, stands from behind her desk, fiddling with the ends of her long blonde hair. “Mr. Calahan.”

“Is my one-thirty here yet?” I ask her.

“I have them set up in meeting room four,” she tells me quickly. “Can I get you anything? Coffee?”

“Please,” I confirm, heading into my office to grab the tie I had discarded before I went to see Sidney and my jacket. I start to put it back in place as I walk back to Lauren. “Can you have lunch sent to Sidney, please? Usual place.”

Lauren’s face scrunches up. “Right. Of course.”

I ignore whatever that was and make my way toward the meeting room, slipping a mask over my face so I can deal with the fucker behind the door.

Isaac Shaw is a fucking asshole, but an asshole I have been forced to work with.

We are building an app for an investment firm in the city, and where I specialize in coding and the platform, Shaw Security deals with the security side of the system.

It’s not the first time we’ve had to work together; it won’t be the last, but it doesn’t mean I have to fucking like it.

I haven’t liked the fucker since college when we had to share the same dorm room. He’s cocky and pushy, and not once, but twice, he’s tried to buy my company. It’s never been for sale, but that doesn’t mean shit to a man like Isaac.

“Calahan,” he greets me when I enter, two of his staff sitting on either side of him, looking entirely too young and fresh out of college. He refuses to pay the salary to more experienced workers, so he’s a revolving door of people, unable to retain his staff.

“Isaac,” I lower into the chair at the head of the meeting table and open my laptop, sharing my screen to the monitor on the wall. It’s just a quick meeting to ensure we are on track and to smooth out any hiccups we have or may encounter building the platform.

“Late as usual,” he leans back in his chair, fiddling with the sleeves of his jacket. I stifle the need to roll my eyes.

“I had someone more important to see,” I reply cooly. “This won’t take long.”

“Miss. Adams, I assume,” His smirk has my blood heating, and I curl my fist against the table.

My dislike of the man only increased further when he tried it on with Sidney.

He’d met her at a charity event when she was my date a few months ago, and though I tried to keep him the fuck away from her, he found her anyway.

The guy’s slimy as hell and always has been.

“How is she these days? I never did hear from her.”

My molars grind. Yeah, and you never will, buddy. I made sure of it then, and I’ll make sure of it now.

“She’s fine,” I pull up the data we need to get this over and done with. Lauren knocks and enters, sliding my coffee onto the table. Isaac watches her intensely, his eyes rolling down her. He’s welcome to her, just not my Sidney.

I steer the conversation away from Sidney and to the task at hand, keeping it on the straight so I can get him the hell out of my office.

The entire time, though, I’m thinking of her.

How her legs shook with my face buried between her thighs, how her nails scratched at my scalp.

Sidney is a drug I will never get enough of.

Finally having the taste I have craved for years has only left me with an itch under my skin that only she’ll be able to satisfy.

We are intense. Passion.

Explosive together.

And I need her to see that we are destined to be more than just best friends, and we always have been. I know she sees it; she’s just too stubborn and too afraid to admit it.

We will get there.

We have to.
