Chapter 19

The day Kairo and I had dinner with our families, I had the urge to tell them the news, but I thought it’d be best if we waited.

My mother kept looking at me like she knew something, and when she asked me at the end of the night, I had to lie to her.

I hated lying, but I didn’t want to get everyone’s hopes up for nothing.

Our families had gotten along well, and I was thankful for that.

It was obvious how much Kairo loved his family, especially his siblings.

His sister was spoiled, but she didn’t act entitled.

She and I got along really well, and we hung out with just the two of us since we’d met.

Even when we weren’t together, we talked every day.

Chanel would always be my best friend, but I had room to make other friends.

Plus, Karma would be my baby’s aunt, so it was only right that we got along.

Kairo had been super attentive to me since my pregnancy was confirmed by the doctor.

He rubbed my feet every day after work. He made sure to switch my coffee to decaf, which was an adjustment.

He had food delivered almost every day but sent it to the staff to make it not look so suspicious.

There were people who suspected something, but we hadn’t confirmed anything.

It wasn’t their business, and they probably wouldn’t find out until the baby came.

We hadn’t discussed that yet, but I made a note to mention it on our date.

We spent a lot of time together, and it was convenient that we lived so close to each other.

Kairo officially adjusted his morning walk time, and we walked every morning together.

Kairo was concerned about me doing certain things, but my doctor informed him that I could do anything I wanted as long as I was comfortable.

I hardly showed since I was only four months, so it was easy to hide it.

I wasn’t sure what I would do once I started showing, but that was another thing we needed to discuss.

I was off for the day, but Kairo had gone in.

He told me he wanted to take me somewhere, so Cashmere and I went to his house so I could get ready over there.

Since Cash and Shadow got along well, we let them stay together when we had to go somewhere.

Koda had taken Cash with him and Shadow a couple of times, and he loved it.

He especially loved the attention he got at the hotel.

He was so much smaller than Shadow, so people loved him.

They were in the backyard while I took a shower. I had my playlist going since Kairo installed speakers in the bathroom.

I had my hands on the wall, with my back facing the see-through shower door.

“Baby, what are you doing?”

I jumped when I heard Kairo’s voice.

“I was practicing my twerk.”

My stomach tightened as I watched him shed his work uniform. His glasses were on the sink, and within seconds, the only thing he had on was his chain. His dick was in his hand while the other hand opened the shower door. I stepped back to give him some room.

He pulled me into his arms and kissed my neck.

“I got something you can practice on.” He released me, then spun me around. “Bend over and practice on this dick.”

A quick smack on my ass had me bending over, gripping my ankles. It didn’t take long for me to get wet because Kairo turned me on anytime he was nearby.

Kairo slowly ran his dick up and down my slit. It was a good thing the water stayed hot, because it seemed like he wanted to take his time.

I felt him spread my butt cheeks, and I held on to my ankles even tighter.

“Thank you for listening to me, baby.” His voice was lower and heavier than it was when he came into the bathroom. He entered me, and I gasped. Sex had been elevated since I’d gotten pregnant. I was a lot wetter than normal.

Kairo’s hands gripped my ass cheeks while he fucked me.

“Too bad we have a date to get to because I would stay in this shit all night.” He groaned. “Do what you were doing when I came in,” he said with a smack to my left cheek.

I started twerking on him, even though I wasn’t that good at it. He didn’t seem to mind because he repeatedly groaned as he smacked my ass and fucked me until I came.

“Do that shit, My.” Kairo’s hands left my butt, and he gripped the front of my neck.

I had to lean up some because of how deep he was in.

After a few more pumps, he turned me around and picked me up. My back was against the wall as he slid back inside of me. He fucked me against the shower wall until we reached our climax.

When Kairo and I left the house, he drove to the hotel, then we walked down to the beach. He hadn’t told me what we were doing, but I didn’t care. It was a beautiful night. There was a slight breeze blowing near the water, and the sun was making its way down.

“What are we doing down here?”

Kairo had led me to a small booth near the water. There were multiple kayaks lying around.

“We are going to watch the sunset while we kayak.”

“What?” I had never done anything like that before, but it sounded interesting. Kairo wasn’t lying about watching the sun rise or set from the hotel. We watched the sunrise one morning, and it was the most beautiful thing.

“Um, do you expect me to help row?”

Kairo laughed, but I hadn’t said anything funny. I was dead serious. He touched my elbow, then kissed my temple. “You’re cute.” He laughed again. “I think you mean paddle, baby.”

“Paddle, row, either way, I ain’t trying to do either.”

He grabbed my hand and led me over to the booth. The man gave us some instructions and rules, then helped Kairo bring the kayak and paddles to the water. Once we were in a good spot, he stepped back.

“No, I don’t expect you to do anything but sit pretty and talk to me. I got this.” He winked then helped me in the kayak.

The man handed him a paddle, and Kairo got in across from me. Once he was situated, the man slightly pushed the back of the kayak, and we were in the water.

Kairo paddled a bit, so we were a ways away from the shoreline. Distance wasn’t my strong suit, so I couldn’t say if we were a few feet away or what.

After we got to where Kairo wanted us, he placed the paddle across his leg, and we pretty much just floated along.

“What kind of mother do you think you’ll be?” Kairo asked as he reached for my hand.

I was a little skeptical about being on the same side as him, so I didn’t move any closer, even though I wanted to.

“I think I’ll be one of those fun ones but stern when I need to be.

I want our child to feel comfortable talking to me about everything.

If not me, then you or even your siblings.

I just want them to have an adult they feel they can confide in.

I think they will, though, because we are surrounded by good people on both sides. What about you?”

“Essentially the same. I would like them to have siblings like I did and have the same type of relationship.”

“So you saying I need to be pregnant in about two years or so.”

“That’s exactly what I’m saying. Only if you want to, though.”

I wasn’t sure what I would feel like in two years. I had to finish baking the one in my stomach first.

“Do you plan on marrying me before the second one?”

I believed Kairo when he said he wasn’t thinking about another woman, because he showed me how he felt about me every day. I wanted to be married, though, and didn’t think we should have multiple children before then.

“Trust me, that’s coming.”

My heart slammed in my chest. Even though we had a conversation before about marriage, what Kairo just said made it real. It was just a matter of when.

Kairo leaned forward and kissed me. “Don’t overthink it. Look.” He pointed toward the sky. “The sun is going down.”

I turned around to watch the sun go down.

The sky turned multiple colors and made the water shine in some parts.

I couldn’t sit next to Kairo, but I felt him.

He rubbed the back of my neck and my back.

I didn’t always need to be in his skin, even though I loved it.

I also loved that whenever he was close enough to touch me, he did.

I never would have guessed that I would move on when I did, and sure didn’t expect to fall for my boss, but I loved it here. Moving to Sunrise Valley was the best decision I’d ever made.

Brian may have been a terrible person, but without him doing what he did, I would have never found Kairo. Brian may have been the reason, but it was fate that brought us together.
