Chapter 36
CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Mack
We’re finally back in Widow’s Peak after an unexpected two weeks away.
Luna and Knight’s first joint heat lasted a little longer than expected, but no one will hear me complaining.
Not just because I got to spend all that time fucking my pack, but because it helped to strengthen our bonds—even with Christian.
We still have a lot to learn about our pack brother, but he really is the last piece our pack was missing.
The guys and I had been worried when it came time to tell our dads we weren’t going to stay in Orlando. That our home was in Widows Peak at Luna’s side.
They surprised us when they just laughed, saying they already knew we wouldn’t be sticking around. It was Ven’s dad, Picasso, who suggested a Widows Peak chapter of Sinner’s Pride.
Luna made us wait until after she talked to the widows before we could agree. Luckily, since they know us now, no one seems to mind the idea of Widows Peak having an MC of its own.
“Just another line of defense between the world outside town and those we protect,” Sylas declared over the phone, and I like the sound of it just as much now as I did then.
I’d love to spend the night surrounded by my pack, that’s just not in the cards for us.
Luna’s friends and their packs were waiting for us when we made it to her house a few hours ago, surprising us with a party to celebrate both our bonding and the death of Luna’s brother.
I chuckle as my eyes catch on one of the handmade signs again.
Congrats on the death of your dickwad brother! The world is a better place with him in the ground.
I have no idea who made it, but we all had a good laugh about it.
“What are you doing sitting over here by yourself?” Christian asks, offering me a beer as he takes the stool at my side.
I take the beer with a nod of thanks. “Hiding.”
“Not much for crowds?”
I shake my head. “I don’t mind the crowds. It’s all the talking people expect you to do. If I brood in the corner, most of them will leave me alone.”
“In that case, I’ll leave you to it.”
“No. Not you.” I stop him with a hand on his arm. “You’re pack, Christian. I never have a problem talking with you. It’s all these other weirdos I’m avoiding.”
He chuckles. “I’m not sure how Luna would feel about you calling her sisters weirdos.”
“I’m not talking about the omegas.” I scoff. “It’s their packs. The worst part is it’s only going to get worse from here. We have an entire lifetime of parties with them.”
“That probably means you should learn how to talk to them.”
I cross my arms over my chest. “I don’t want to.”
“What has my grumpy alpha pouting?” Prescott asks, bouncing across the room to join us. “I finally got Luna to stop being such a grump, and now I have to deal with this?”
I shake my head, a grin spreading across my lips. “You’re a mess, little beta.”
“Yeah, sure. I’m the problem.” He rolls his eyes at Christian. “Can you believe this guy?”
“Don’t pull me into your drama, man. We were just over here, minding our own business while we avoided talking to anyone. You’re the one who came prancing over here all bubbly and shit.” A grin splits Christian's lips. “Fuck, you really are way too much happiness in one package.”
He shakes his head. “I am not too much—I’m just enough.”
“Damn straight you are, little beta.” I grab his shirt and tug him between my legs so I can kiss him.
We break apart at the sound of catcalls, and I’m about to give someone a piece of my mind when I realize it has nothing to do with us.
Knight has Luna pinned against the wall as they kiss.
Ven stalks across the room, growling under his breath. I can’t hear what he’s saying, but I can imagine.
He leans in to whisper something into Knight’s ear, and our omega pulls back with a grin. I expect Ven to drag them from the room, but color me surprised when he leans in to kiss Knight and then Luna.
“That was unexpected.” Prescott laughs as he throws his arm around my shoulders and brushes his lips against mine. “I think Ven is hoping he can scare them all off with some heavy PDA.”
“I don’t think it’s working,” Christian says drolly as another round of catcalls sound out.
I shake my head. “I don’t think anyone is planning to leave for a while.”
“Of course they’re not. They were worried about Luna—about all of us, really.
They need time with us to see that we’re all okay.
But especially with Luna. They’ve all been through so much together.
They share a bond we can never understand, but we have to support it, Mack.
There’s not much that will piss off Luna, but trying to pull her away from her sisters? She might kill anyone who tries to.”
“Uh, that’s not what any of us want.” I sigh, resting my head on his shoulder.
We watch as the other widows pull Luna away from our mates, dragging her to the area they cleared to make a dance floor of sorts.
I shake my head as Luna throws her head from side to side with her arms in the air.
“They share a bond no one can break. It’s clear to see.” Christian’s voice is quiet as we watch the six of them laugh together.
I think this is the freest I’ve ever seen Luna as she just lets go.
“Only an idiot would try to get between them, and while we might be stubborn and a little thick-headed from time to time, no one in this pack is stupid.” I grin. “Plus, we can’t fault our girl for wanting friendship outside of the men who regularly just want to fuck her.”
That pulls a startled laugh from Prescott. “You’re probably right, Mack.”
The three of us fall silent as we watch the women enjoying themselves, Knight and Ven eventually joining us.
A glance around the room tells me the others want to be close to their omegas just as much as we want to be near ours, but we all allow them this time.
It’s not just our pack bonds that are strengthening, but the bonds of sisterhood.
