Chapter 6 Whack-a-Mole
Wang Ba's forehead was covered in beads of sweat. His face was deathly pale. His lips trembled.
"Xiao Mei" gripped his fingers and slowly bent them one by one.
"My little sister's life is too boring. Someone finally came to keep her company," she said. "Play with her properly, or I'll kill you. Got it?"
Wang Ba's eyes bulged. He rolled on the ground in pain.
He nodded frantically in agreement.
Then the ferocity in Xiao Mei's eyes faded fast, returning to clarity.
That harmless little girl was back.
"Uncle!" Xiao Mei pouted. "I'm sorry. I was wrong. I shouldn't have scared Uncle."
Old Wang jolted, scrambled up, and kowtowed on the floor with loud thumps.
"I was wrong, I was wrong, stop playing with me, Brother... no, Dad, you're my living father!"
Xiao Mei looked confused. "Uncle, are you playing a game with me?"
In an instant she brightened. "Then let's play whack-a-mole."
With that she got up, humming, and climbed back onto the bed.
She tore open a doll's belly. Inside there was no sponge at all—all kinds of tools were hidden there.
Hammers, saws, daggers... a full-on weapons cache.
She quickly picked a weapon she liked.
It was a giant iron hammer one and a half meters long and weighing forty kilograms.
By market rates of eighty for the big hammer and forty for the small, this swing of hers was worth at least eight hundred.
"Whack-a-mole, whack-a-mole!"
Xiao Mei laughed and swung the giant hammer straight at Old Wang.
Old Wang wet himself in terror and rolled aside.
"Bang!"
The floor cracked. Dust sifted down from the ceiling.
Even the monitor feed shook a few times.
"Murder!"
Old Wang's survival instinct exploded. He scrambled and crawled out the door.
Xiao Mei did not stop him.
Instead she covered her eyes and silently counted to thirty.
When the time was up, she dragged the giant hammer out the door.
"Little mouse, hide well. I'm coming to find you..."
In the pitch-black corridor, only Xiao Mei's heavy footsteps remained.
"Clang, clang..."
