14. Kayden
KAYDEN
There was someone standing by the door as I jerked off in the shower—and it was my little demon.
Little does she know, I was jerking off to thoughts of her.
As I pick up the puck that confirmed my suspicions, a smirk lifts the corners of my lips.
And she wants to talk? What a lucky guy I am tonight—and Madelyn’s a little sneaky thing.
Five minutes later, I’m up in the attic, climbing out the window in nothing but my towel—ready to terrorize her.
The red puck’s in my hand, and I wave it in the air.
Madelyn’s sitting on the shingles, in a pink pajama set. Long pants and a long-sleeve shirt made out of silk that sits loose on her body. She looks up from—is that the notebook I gifted her?—and her eyes widen.
Her cheeks flush. She’s checking me out. My abs tighten, and my body heat increases with the knowledge of her gaze on me. Good, because it’s fucking chilly out here. The breeze is no joke.
“W-what are you doing?” Madelyn asks, looking away.
I amble forward and take a seat beside her. “You wanted to talk.”
“R-right. I mean, why are you only wearing that?” She shuts the notebook and points at my towel.
“Curious, aren’t you?” I lift an eyebrow and lean back on the cold shingles. “Thought I’d get some fresh air before dressing up.”
God, the look on her face as she saw me walk out half-naked into the roof—makes it worth being a little cold.
“Okay.” She doesn’t look at me, keeping her eyes and body facing out.
“So, what is this about?”
“I need your phone number.” Straight and to the point. “Not because I want it. I just think we should have each other’s numbers in case we need them.”
I nod, running a hand through my wet hair. “Okay. Give me your phone, I’ll add it to your contacts.”
“I didn’t bring it with me.”
“Well, clearly, I didn’t bring mine either,” I say, my eyes seizing on her notebook. “I can write it down here for you.” I lean forward and grab it from her hands.
She moves fast, snatching it away from me and hugging it to her chest. “Absolutely not.”
“Whoa. What do you have there that you’re so protective about? More filthy smut?”
“None of your business,” Madelyn mutters.
Okay, she’s snarky today. Or I’m right and it annoys her that I can read her so well. She didn’t say no.
“Fine. Then, pass me that pen.” I point at the pen stuck between the pages of her closed notebook and sticking out from the top. “And your hand.”
To that, she complies.
“Anything else?” I ask once I’m done writing my number on her palm. “I’m beat.”
“I can imagine.” There’s sarcasm in her tone.
“What does that mean?”
“Nothing,” she says. “It’s late. You’ve been…busy.”
“I have.” I had to stay on campus for practice overtime today, ended up grabbing a bite with some of the guys from the team, and time flew by.
“You should go to sleep.”
I nod. “Yep, you too, Madelyn. Let’s go.”
I get up, but she doesn’t.
“I’ll go soon.”
I salute her and turn around, heading to the window.
“Oh, and Kayden,” she says, despite having already dismissed her.
“Yeah?” I look at her over my shoulder.
“Would you mind not using the bathroom upstairs—the one I exclusively use—whenever you need to…relieve yourself?”
I spin to face her.
There it is. The reason she’s been so snappy. She’s all hot and bothered from listening to me in the shower. I knew she’d give herself away eventually. Of course, she heard me.
“Why, sis?” I tease her. “Did I get you too excited? Was it too much for you to handle?”
“As if.” She turns away. “I simply don’t want to have to take a shower where you’ve…done stuff to yourself. It’s hard enough having to ride the car after you’ve done things in there too.”
“Well.” I scoff, folding my arms across my chest in pride. “If we’re going by that logic, you’d better get off this roof ASAP. I’ve done plenty of things to myself here, too.”
She jumps up, standing and dusting off her pajamas with one hand. “You asshole.”
I can’t help the grin that sticks to my face.
“Yup. Goodnight, Little Demon.” I fix my towel and make my way toward the window, stopping right in front of it.
“We could have settled it by stating I won’t jerk off in the bathroom anymore, and you will stop listening to me as I do.
That seemed fair,” I say. “But you know what? I will continue to use the bathroom upstairs. And who knows? Maybe next time, I’ll leave a surprise.
If I were you, I wouldn’t use that flower-scented shampoo anymore, just in case. ”
