Chapter 156 The Partners
VowThe agency headquarters in downtown Manhattan were cold, clinical, and quiet as Derek Cooper and Amelia Grant walked into the directors private suite.
The director looked up from his files, his sharp gaze tracking the matching platinum bands shining proudly on their fingers.
"The field reports for Pier 42 are entirely clean, operatives. The Cordova Group network is officially liquidated from the global grid. Your protective cover assignment is completed."
He slid the documents forward. "Sign the exit clauses, and your legal cover marriage is officially dissolved. You are free to return to your independent field tracks."
Derek stepped forward, his large frame completely dominating the space as he picked up the pen.
He didn't look at the exit clauses, and he didn't look at the agency bylaws.
He deliberately drew a dark, absolute line straight through the dissolution terms, signing his name firmly at the bottom of the page beneath the words: PERMANENT EXTENSION.
"The assignment cover is expired, director," Derek stated cleanly, his deep baritone carrying an iron column of absolute authority that filled the quiet room.
"But the marriage is permanent. Amelia Grant is officially my wife, my partner, and my sovereign cover for the rest of my life. My office is throwing away the exit plays."
Amelia smiled beautifully beside him, taking the pen from his hand and executing her own signature with a flawless, unyielding precision. "We are clearing our column from the independent field track, sir. We face the front lines together. Permanently."
The director stared at the document for a long, silent beat before a rare, respectful smile touched his lips. He stamped the registry with an absolute finality. "Then may God have mercy on anyone who crosses your perimeter, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper. Your forever contract is officially recorded."
