VALENTINA
The door is unlocked, exactly as I told them to leave it.
I stand outside the suite with my shoes in one hand and the gold staff mask still covering half my face.
My feet ache from twelve hours of service, the edge of the mask has rubbed the bridge of my nose raw, and I have already told Nora enough to make her roll her eyes and say she will collect our bags when her shift ends.
None of those facts explains why I stay in the hallway for three full breaths before walking in.
The room is quieter than the ballroom. Max is barefoot near the small bar, jacket gone and tie loose, tattoos visible down both forearms and climbing his neck.
Calder sits on the end of the sofa with his sleeves rolled neatly to his elbows and a glass of water in one hand.
Moreno stands near the balcony doors, the first two buttons of his shirt open, his attention finding me before the latch finishes moving.
All three still wear their masks.
Max looks at the shoes in my hand. “You made it.”
“I considered making you wait longer for character development.”
“Cruel again.”
I close the door behind me.
Moreno turns the lock out of habit. The click is small. My body hears it anyway.
He hears whatever happens in my silence. Without making me explain, he turns the lock back, removes the key, and sets it on the console where I can see it.
“Privacy,” he says. “Not a cage.”
The muscles between my shoulders loosen by one degree. “Good answer.”
Calder puts the water on the table and rises. “What do you want now that there isn’t an audience?”
I put my shoes beside the door and walk farther into the room. “All three of you.”
Max’s grin changes, less playful and more focused.
“I’m not choosing one,” I continue. “You do not compete over me, and nobody decides tonight means he owns something tomorrow. Condoms every time. If I say stop, you stop. If I say move, you move. We wake up tomorrow without invented promises.”
Moreno answers first. “Yes.”
Max nods. “Yes.”
Calder’s gaze stays on mine. “Yes. And if any of us wants to stop, the same rule applies.”
“Fair.”
I hook a finger beneath my mask and pull it away. “Take those off.”
Max removes his immediately. Moreno follows. Calder is last, setting his black mask beside the water instead of dropping it wherever Max has abandoned his.
Without the masks, they look more dangerous because there is less theater to blame for the impression.
Calder’s gray-green eyes are even harder to evade up close.
Max’s grin gives way to an expressive mouth and a small notch through his left eyebrow.
Moreno’s nose is visibly crooked from an old break, his face leaner and more severe than the suit made it seem.
I touch Calder first.
He does not expect it. That is part of why I choose him.
My palm settles against his chest, then slides to his collar. “You talk the most carefully.”
“Usually.”
“Stop.”
One eyebrow rises. “Talking?”
“Thinking you can manage this from six feet away.”
I pull him down and kiss him.
Calder’s restraint lasts long enough to make the first answer deliberate.
One hand comes to my waist, not gripping, while the other stays at his side until I catch it and put it on my hip.
Then his mouth opens under mine and the control turns physical instead of disappearing.
He kisses as if every change in pressure has been chosen for a reason.
Max moves behind me, close enough that the heat of him reaches through my uniform. “Do I need a written request?”
I break the kiss just enough to answer. “You need patience.”
“That seems discriminatory.”
I reach backward, catch his tie, and pull him against me. “Better?”
“Much.”
His mouth finds the side of my neck while Calder watches my face. Moreno has not moved from the balcony. The stillness starts irritating me.
“You,” I say.
Moreno’s eyes narrow. “Me.”
“Come here.”
He crosses the room without hurry. When he reaches us, I put my free hand against the open collar of his shirt and feel the hard rise of muscle beneath it.
“You’re quiet.”
“I’m listening.”
“To what?”
“You.”
That answer works better on me than Max’s teasing or Calder’s precision, which is inconvenient because I would like to pretend I am in complete control of this experiment.
I kiss Moreno next. His hand settles around the back of my neck, heavy enough to make the touch a question I can answer with movement. I lean into it. He deepens the kiss, then stops the instant I pull back.
Max makes a thoughtful sound. “I am beginning to feel neglected.”
“You’ve had thirty seconds.”
“A lifetime.”
I turn and kiss him. He laughs once against my mouth The sound disappears when I bite his lower lip. His hands slide to my hips without hesitating, and he gives me the kind of kiss that seems playful until I realize he is paying attention to every change in my breathing.
Three men. Three different kinds of control. Mine still sits in the center of the room because they are letting me keep it.
I reach for the zipper at the back of my uniform dress and fail to catch it cleanly. Calder’s fingers close over mine.
“May I?”
“You may stop being polite about the zipper.”
“That is not an answer.”
I look at him. “Yes.”
He lowers it slowly. Max moves my hair over one shoulder, mouth returning to my neck, while Calder guides the dress off my shoulders.
Moreno crouches to push the fabric down over my hips without dragging it against my skin.
Nobody rushes to be first. The coordination should make the room feel crowded.
Instead, it makes every touch easier to identify.
I step out of the dress in black underwear and the ridiculous stockings chosen by the event stylist. Max stares at the run near my knee.
“Tragic,” he says.
“I worked a shift.”
“I’m mourning the hosiery.”
“Do it quietly.”
Moreno reaches for the garter clip, then stops before touching it. I nod. He releases the stocking and rolls it down my leg with blunt concentration that feels more indecent than flirting.
Calder lifts my other foot onto his thigh to remove the second stocking. “Your feet are blistered.”
“I noticed.”
“You’re not putting those shoes back on tonight.”
“There’s the lawyer making rules.”
“Recommendation.”
“Better.”
Max kisses me again and walks me backward until the backs of my knees find the bed. I sit, then look at all three men standing in front of me.
“This is the point where at least one of you is supposed to become awkward.”
Max starts unbuttoning his shirt. “Give Calder time.”
“I’m standing right here.”
“Exactly.”
Moreno’s mouth almost curves.
I catch the waistband of Max’s trousers and pull him between my knees. “You talk too much.”
“I’ve been told.”
“Prove you can do something else with your mouth.”
He drops to his knees.
The grin vanishes as he hooks his fingers beneath my underwear and looks up. I lift my hips. He slides the fabric down, kisses the inside of one thigh, then the other, taking enough time that impatience starts to build under my skin.
“Max.”
“There she is.”
“If you make me ask twice?—”
He puts his mouth on me.
The threat disappears.
My hand catches his curls while the other braces on the mattress.
Max does not settle into one easy rhythm.
He watches what moves me, changes pressure when my thighs tighten, slows when I try to chase him, then uses his fingers with his mouth until my first real sound escapes before I can decide whether I want to give it to the room.
Calder sits beside me. He does not touch until I turn my head toward him.
“Still good?” he asks.
“Yes.”
“Anything you want changed?”
I drag him into a kiss instead of answering with another sentence. He understands.
Moreno remains on my other side, one hand resting on my thigh above Max’s shoulder. The contact is steady and grounding, not gentle enough to become sentimental. When I reach for him, he gives me his hand. I lace our fingers because I can, then squeeze hard enough to make his eyes sharpen.
Max changes the angle of his mouth and my body tightens around his fingers.
The orgasm comes in a rising series of contractions that strips language down to sound.
I pull Max closer with one hand and dig my nails into Moreno’s palm with the other.
Calder’s mouth stays against mine until I have to break away to breathe.
Max does not stop the instant I come. He eases me down instead, lighter pressure, slower strokes, waiting until my thighs unclench before he sits back on his heels.
“You are very pleased with yourself,” I manage.
“Deeply.”
“Annoying.”
“You can punish me later.”
Moreno says, “Move.”
Max looks up at him. “She said she gives orders.”
“I’m giving one,” I say. “Max, move..”
He laughs and gets out of the way.
Moreno steps between my knees. There is no grin on his face, no elaborate question. He opens the drawer beside the bed, finds the condoms the hotel placed there, checks the date and wrapper, then sets one where I can reach it.
I look at him. “Prepared?”
“Careful.”
“Those are not the same thing.”
“No.”
He strips off his shirt. Black-and-gray tattoos cover his shoulders and upper arms; old scars interrupt the ink. His body is leaner than it looks beneath the suit, hard muscle built for movement rather than display. When he pushes his trousers down, the humor leaves me entirely.
Max whistles from somewhere behind him.
Moreno does not look away from me. “You want this?”
“Yes.”
He hands me the condom.
I roll it on him myself, watching his control tighten as my fingers move. Then I pull him closer and lie back across the bed.
“Do not treat me like I’ll break.”
“I won’t.”
“But do not confuse that with permission to ignore me.”
“I won’t.”
I open my legs. “Then come here.”
Moreno braces one hand beside my shoulder and guides himself into me slowly enough that every inch registers. The first stretch makes me grip his arm.
He stops.
“Keep going,” I say.
