Chapter Thirteen

Luna

Going at the lowest speed, as the Jet Ski instructor advised, I marvel at the uninhabited island in front of us. My parents thought an adventurous activity like this would be nice for our next-to-last day here. Has it been almost a week? I watch Finn dismount his Jet Ski and situate it in the sand as though he does this all the time. I keep catching myself watching him, wanting to know what he’s doing, and wondering if he’s thinking of me. The way our eyes always catch, I think the answer is yes.

The resort uses this uninhabited island for tours. Something about the Maldives makes me feel like I’m at the end of the world and in the most secluded place on the planet.

The ride here filled me with a sense of adventure—fresh air in my lungs and sprinkles of sea water splashing my arms while we sped along. But the second I step off the Jet Ski and onto the island, a sharp pain travels up the outside of my leg, causing me to collapse to the ground. Finn appears by my side in an instant, holding my elbow.

“What’s wrong?”

“My ankle.”

He scoops me up like I’m filled with feathers.

“Here,” Aaron says. Finn carries me to a log and sets me down with caution. My brother touches my leg, foot, and ankle bone, applying delicate pressure before asking me to flex, point, and roll my limb around. His hands grip me again, and a pang of discomfort causes me to jump.

“Not broken. Sprained, though.” Aaron places my foot on the ground with tender care. “You always had the grace of an elephant.”

“Your bedside manner sucks,” I reply.

“Could amputate to be on the safe side.”

“She’s injured,” Cass says, observing from a few feet away. “You’re supposed to be nice to her.”

“Fine,” he says, obviously enjoying this too much. “Alright, klutz, can you walk?”

Finn and my dad help me stand, and everyone puts a pause on their fun family outing to check in on me. Even Carmen came, having ridden in the support boat.

I hobble a few steps, disguising my wince. “It’s fine,” I say. “I’ll be fine.”

“Lou,” Finn says, “you’re not fine.”

“You should stay off it as much as possible for the next twenty-four hours.” Aaron turns to the instructor. “You have an ice pack?”

I encourage my family to enjoy exploring the island, and I sit and try not to wallow in pity for myself. The captain offers to take me back to the resort in the boat, which honestly sounds amazing. Everyone’s fussing over me, and I’m taking away from their good time.

“I’ll go with you,” my brother says. “Help you get settled at the villa.”

“I can go.” Finn shrugs, as if this stunning island does nothing to impress him and he’d rather leave. “We had that sunset boat ride, so you should have this experience. Besides, she’s only got a sprain, right?”

“Lou,” Aaron says, turning to me. “Who would you prefer to accompany you? A certified doctor or this guy with zero medical experience?”

“I’ll go with the one who didn’t just compare me to an elephant.”

“Hm. Fair enough.” He turns to Finn. “Sure you don’t mind?”

“Not at all,” Finn replies.

My brother gives Finn instructions on icing and elevating my ankle, after which we speed to the resort by boat. A staff member greets us at the dock with a wheelchair, and I could die of embarrassment because my injury is so minor. A wheelchair also means Finn doesn’t have to carry me all the way back to the villa.

“I’d like to clean up before resting,” I say as Finn fluffs up the pillows on my bed.

“Bath?”

“No, just a quick rinse.”

With us still in our swimsuits, he helps me hop to the outdoor shower attached to my room. He holds my arm as the sun-warmed water beats down on me, washing the sand and sunscreen away. His eyes track every place my hand goes, and I relish being the center of his attention.

“They’ll be gone for a while,” I say.

The muscles in his jaw tighten.

“Is that why you offered to take me back?”

“No,” he says with a chuckle. “I care about you, Lou. Saved you from certain death.”

This causes me to laugh and pull him closer into the stream of the shower. Already, the strength of his erection presses into my belly. “Well, thank you for that.”

He bends his head to mine, his lips moist and salty. The position of the showerhead forces me to kiss him over and over or risk a mouthful of water—like making out is the only means of survival. One of his arms encircles my waist, while his other hand holds my face against his. A groan vibrates from his chest and into me, down and down, yearning for all of him.

“Suppose you’re right,” he murmurs into my mouth. “They’ll be gone for a while.”

I nod, tugging at the waistband of his swim trunks and yanking them down in one swoop. The pressure of his length, hard and hot against my leg, makes me whimper. He takes off my bikini bottoms in record time, the fabric flopping to my feet. I pull at my neck ties while he undoes the back, and once my breasts are free, he grabs a fistful of them, squeezing so tight I lose balance and land on my foot with a spike of pain.

“Ow,” I yelp.

“Sorry.” He strokes my nipple with his thumb in apology. “Sorry, Lou.”

“Not that. Ankle.”

“Oh, shit.”

“Maybe we take it to the bed for this?”

He wraps a towel around his waist, his cock poking against the fabric. With another cloth, he wraps me up like a burrito and carries me to bed, setting me down on one side. I don’t let him retreat. With my arm hooked over his neck, I want him here, always, by me. The glorious sound of his towel dropping prompts me to scoot toward the middle of the bed, my own towel falling open so Finn lays next to me, skin on skin.

His mouth surveys me, inch by inch, from my jaw to my pulse points to my breasts. I moan as his tongue flicks, sending a straight shot of longing to my center.

“I want you so bad,” I whisper on an exhale, my back arching into him.

“Louder.” He smirks, licking his way to my other peak.

“I want you. Fuck, I want you, Finn.”

He travels up my neck, his ocean-blue eyes level with mine. “Can I go down on you first? Please. I might lose my mind if I have to go another day without knowing how good you taste.”

I gulp. “Okay.”

“Yeah?”

I nod because, yes , I’d love for that to happen, but I haven’t been with many men who’ve asked for it. It’s always been a special-occasion treat, nothing to beg for. Finn’s something else, though. He settles between my legs on his elbows, forearms hooked around my thighs and looking like he won the lottery. His facial hair tickles me as he goes in, his tongue tracing a line from my entrance to my clit. Finn latches there, sucking, licking, and pressing his lips into me in a rhythm so right my hips undulate with a mind of their own. We strike a luscious tempo, and Finn takes his time. He savors me, precisely like he wanted to. His hums of satisfaction travel up my body, and the closer I get, the more I writhe in his grip.

“Oh, yes. Right there.” My fingers run through his hair, and he moans into my core. “You can do this anytime you want. I’m yours, Finn.”

His arms tighten around my legs, amplifying the pressure of his face against me. He sounds almost feral, feasting on me with grunts of satisfaction and matching the back-and-forth sway of my hips.

The throbs of my desire become too much and my orgasm erupts, sending shockwaves to every limb as I rock in euphoria. Finn’s along for the ride—he doesn’t seem bothered that I buck against him—using that wonderful mouth of his to send aftershocks shooting through me. He pulls away once I’m done, with the most euphoric look on his face.

“How’s that ankle?” he asks, collapsing into the bed next to me.

“Unbelievable. Best ankle I ever had.”

“Good.”

I taste myself on his lips, along with a hint of crisp soap. When my hand finds his cock, I gasp at how turned on he is, all from me. Any doubt that he only sees me as his best friend’s little sister has vanished forever, and I’m only left wondering why we weren’t doing this together much, much sooner. As I stroke him, his eyes close, and a classic Finn smile spreads across his face.

“I want you inside of me.”

He curses under his breath. “I—Do you have a condom?”

“I have an IUD, and I’m clean. Tested after…recently. You?”

“Okay. Me, too.”

Finn pulls me close and we’re kissing again as I hook my leg over him. Lifting onto his arm, Finn maneuvers himself on top of me, his tip posed at my entrance. Then he’s pushing inside of me, stretching me to fit him. Enveloping him sends an ache throughout my entire body, like I could burst from how well we slot together. Once he’s almost filled me to the hilt, I grip his torso and lure him toward me, forcing him deeper.

“Shit,” he says, leaning his head back. “Lou, that’s so good.”

“I want this. I want this all the time.”

We laugh, the moment of levity reminding me I’m here with him, Finn, someone I trust and care about. Sure, I’m excited about what’s next, but I want it more than ever before because it’s him . He’s the person I can be my entire, true self around, and he won’t tire of me. I’d worried that all the baggage of us knowing each other since we were young would get in the way, but it’s the very reason we work—because he knows me better than anyone.

“I’ve wanted to do this for so long, Lou.”

“Worth the wait?”

“Yes.” He pulls out to the tip again, then slides back in, and we both pant in pleasure. “Have to make up for lost time, though.”

“I’m fine with that. Never stop fucking me, Finn. Don’t. Stop.”

With a thrust of his hips, and another, we both move in unison and gasp as the intensity grows. A second orgasm, a deeper one, unfurls. A primal part of me takes over, and I’m grinding into him, unable to get enough. Giving and taking. When his thumb reaches down and applies generous pressure to my clit, I could cry. He builds me up, and the edge of an orgasm is so close my legs quiver.

“Harder,” I say, and he collides into me in a determined way that makes me both thrilled and almost frightened of the extraordinary release I know is to come. “Yes. So good. So deep.”

“I wanna make you scream, baby girl.”

“I dare you.”

“Love having you here.” He nips at my chest, teeth grazing a nipple. “Being buried in you. I’ll give you whatever you want.”

“Just this, always.”

“Luna.” He pumps into me, over and over, making my vision go blurry with bliss. “Fuck. Can’t wait to feel you come all around me.”

I soar off the edge into the abyss, screaming Finn’s name as he buries his head in my neck. I melt into the bed, sinking, then floating, then wrapped in radiance. It’s like an explosion has gone off inside me, leaving a satiated sensation in its wake. Today’s date, where I am—I’ve forgotten almost everything. The entire world has faded away except for me and this man.

Finn groans against me, his hips driving until he spills into me. Yes , I say, again and again. I can’t remember a time when we weren’t like this, weren’t this close or intimate, and weren’t sharing every part of each other.

We lay there, depleted yet content, for a while. Days, possibly, but I don’t care to keep track. I could lie here with him on top of me forever.

Until the sound of the keycard in the front door echoes through the house.
