Chapter 26
Junie
“Where would we live?” Silas asks.
I knit my brows together. “That’s… um. We would figure that out.”
“You have Forever June,” Silas counters.
“And you have your pack, yes.”
“But it’d be your pack, too.”
“I’d be the Luna, yes, I know,” I say.
“You’d… yes…”
Now that Silas is no longer spellbound, I know he’s simply processing what’s happening.
I’m assuming he didn’t expect this to happen, and now he’s in shock.
If he knew what I had up my sleeve, he might have stayed away from me longer.
He may have threatened Fran to try to get her not to tell me, but I would have found a way to break the spell eventually.
Even if I had to go back to Starview to figure it out, I would have done it. I’m glad I don’t have to wait any longer to learn what Silas wants, but I would have. He’s worth it.
“You haven’t thought about this,” Silas persists.
“I’ve been thinking about nothing but this,” I counter.
“You don’t want to be mated to me forever.”
“Why are you telling me what I want, Silas, when I want to know what you want?”
“What do I want? I want you to think about what it means to be bonded to a wolf forever.” Silas takes a step toward me, and another, pushing me back. He keeps walking until my back is pressed against the wall, and he towers over me. “Wolves are possessive, Junie.”
“And some are assholes,” I muse.
Silas brings a hand to my waist, gripping me tight.
“But we are loyal, and honest, and protective. I’d never let anything happen to you. My pack would be your pack. You’d have hundreds of wolves to call family. They’d look up to you for decisions, for advice, for guidance.”
“I know. Fran told me.”
Silas blinks in shock.
“So,” I drawl. “Have you come to a decision?” I trail my hand up his torso, walking my fingers up until I’m gripping the back of his neck. “Do you choose me, Silas? Because let’s be honest, if you don’t, you’ll regret not having me for the rest of your life.”
He laughs. “You’re so sure of yourself, hm?”
“Seems like you’ve rubbed off on me with your big ego.”
“You’re a brat.”
I grin. “Is that a yes?”
Silas rolls his eyes. “Yes, Junie. I choose you.”
