Chapter 41
“What happened?” I asked as I made my way to the bed to caressed his face softly as a tear rolled down the opposite side of his face.
“Baby, I fucked up. I don’t want to hurt you anymore.”
“What did you do?” I removed my hand from his face and backed away slightly.
I stood in front of him in a pajama set that he bought me.
My stomach was barely covered because he bought the shirt too small.
My eyes watered as Law laid in bed with tears rolling down his face.
My heart already knew what he did, but I needed him to tell me.
From my visit today, I knew he was with her.
My heart needed to hear it. My ears desired to hear it.
“It’s her again, ain’t it?” I asked.
“It’s not what you think.”
“Tell me, Law. Don’t hold shit back from me either. Is it Pinkie?”
He nodded his head yes.
“How many times?”
“Twice.”
I glared at him with so much hate in my heart.
I was no longer concerned about him or what the fuck was wrong with him.
I was pissed off and he was to blame. After lying to me over and over again about being faithful and making me his wife.
Once the big tears started dropping from my eyes and my breathing changed.
I knew security was going to have to get me off Law ass.
“You are such a bitch, you know that. I wish you had fucking died. You’re dead to me and my daughter. Don’t show your fucking face around me or I swear to gawd, I’ll kill you myself.”
The door opened, but it didn’t stop me from cutting Law with my damn words. I didn’t turn around to see who it was, but Law’s eyes got big as saucers. I turned around to see Pinkie standing there like she was pleased with what she was witnessing.
“This is what you wanted, hoe? Guess what? He’s yours. I’m not about to fight a desperate ass bitch like you. You’ll never be happy with him because he knows what I do, too and for him. You’ll be a miserable old ass bitch.”
The bitch smirked, and it set me the fuck off.
I balled my swollen hand as tight as I could get it and punched her right in her fucking mouth.
That wasn’t good enough for me, so I snatched her by her lace front and popped her ass in the eye.
This wasn’t about Law anymore; this was about me and my daughter.
She tried to kill us for some dick. Dick that didn’t belong to her.
“Summer,” Law called out.
“Don’t say my damn name.”
“Baby, your water broke.”
While Pinkie nursed her bleeding face, I was trying not to panic. Law was trying to get out of bed, but I no longer needed him. He could lay there and this dumb bitch could have him. I walked out of his room with blood running down my legs.
At a little past midnight, I pushed out a small but healthy baby girl. Ms. Mae did not leave my side the whole time. She cut the cord and was the first person that baby girl got to see. I did let her take a few pictures for Law but that was about it.
“You did so good. She is beautiful.”
“Thank you for being here for me.”
“You know I’m going to always be here. I don’t care what Law do. I’m sorry about that, too.”
“You do not have to apologize for him. That’s our problem so don’t go home and get yourself worked up about it.”
“I didn’t raise him like that. I feel like it’s my fault, though.”
“It’s not, and I don’t blame you.”
“Well, you get some rest. They said they will keep the baby in NICU overnight to see how she does. If she does good, then they’ll bring her back in here to you.”
“Thank you.” She smiled at me and kissed my forehead.
“Chile, thank you for giving me a baby to spoil. I’ll send those pictures to Law’s phone because Lord knows I can’t stand to look at him right now.”
Before the door closed, I was crying, glad that my pregnancy was over, but now I felt so empty inside.
Time after time, I’ve given to a nigga only for him to spit in my face.
Now there was a baby involved and walking away was going to be ten times harder for me.
But I was done. If I stayed in this shit, I was going to lose myself.
How could I be with him and every time he moved, I had to wonder where he was going.
I was still young and had my life ahead of me.
Maybe getting the hell out of Savannah and starting over would help me.
Shit, I couldn’t think about anything until my daughter was in my arms. I rubbed my flabby stomach as my phone started ringing.
“Law, it’s late, and I just had a baby a few hours ago. I need to be resting and not talking.”
“Baby, please talk to me. I saw the pictures. I can’t believe you had my baby.”
“Yea, me either.”
“I’ll know what they going to do with me in the morning. If they let me go is it cool for me to come down there to see the baby?”
“You can see the baby while she’s in the nursery or whatever but if she’s in here with me, I don’t want you in here.”
“Look, I’m not going to beg you or none of that shit right now. I just want to see my baby and make sure she’s good. I fucked up, I get it.”
“What else you need Law?”
“I guess that’s it.”
“Call before you come down here. I’m sure your girl will be waiting for you to get better.”
“She’s not my…” I hung up the phone in his face before he could finish.
