EPILOGUE #2

MAYLEE

H er nerves were taut as Maylee and Daddy entered the Black Vault. This was their third time coming to the club, and it never got easier. Even though Daddy kept reassuring her that nothing was going to happen, she still got nervous.

How was she not supposed to? She knew many people who were going to be at the club, but it didn’t make it any easier. They’d probably been in the scene for years and years, whereas she’d only been, or recently found out she was a Little.

Maylee was still nervous about messing up. She figured that fear would never go away.

“You’re going to be fine,” Daddy said, gently.

She didn’t know about that, but maybe he was right. Maybe everything was going to be all right.

“Take a deep breath in for me,” Daddy said, “and slowly let it out. Such a good girl.”

She smiled and they headed to the Little part of the club. She didn’t know who would all be there, but Daddy said she was going to have fun no matter what. She hoped he was right about that.

She had only shown a few people her Little. It was harder for her, possibly because she was newer. Maybe once she got more comfortable with people, it would change.

“Maylee! You made it!” Liv yelled.

A smile broke out on Maylee’s face as she saw her friend. Tonight was going to be a good night. Liv was here to help her and keep her calm through things.

“Go on, you can play,” Daddy said.

She looked back at Daddy and then at Liv. She wanted to go play but she didn’t necessarily want to leave Daddy.

“You can go. I’ll be right here where you can see me the whole time,” Daddy kissed her forehead. “Go have fun!”

Liv grabbed her hand and pulled her away from Daddy into the masses. Okay, that was a lie. There weren’t a ton of people here but there were a lot—more than was comfortable.

“We’re going to have so much fun!” Liv yelled. “Do you want to play with the dolls, color, or we can just sit and talk.”

And here she was again having to decide. Maylee didn’t like to make decisions when she wasn’t at work. Daddy knew that and made most of the decisions himself. It was nice to have that when she got home from work.

“I think we should play with the dolls, but they look like they’re being used right now. We can color until they are free!” Liv pointed to the corner.

Maylee nodded. “Sounds good.”

They both went to the corner and pulled out some books and markers .

“I don’t color in the lines,” Maylee whispered.

“That’s okay! I don’t either. It feels too restrictive.”

She widened her eyes and nodded. “I thought I was the only one who thought about it like that!”

“Nope! I bet there are some other people who feel the same way. We have so many rules already. Why would we want to stay within the lines when we color?”

“How do you have rules?”

Maylee was genuinely curious. To Maylee’s knowledge, Liv didn’t have a Daddy. Had something changed during the week?

“Um. Well. Yeah, I don’t really have rules but I kind of do,” Liv replied.

“Do I know this person?” Maylee asked as she started to color.

“Maybe. I would really like to keep it a secret. I, it’s complicated.”

“You can tell me when you’re ready, and if you’re never ready, then that’s okay as well. I don’t need to know.”

But she really did want to know. She wanted to know so badly she was about to explode, but she needed to be mindful of her friend. She wasn’t comfortable saying anything, and she needed to respect that.

“I saw Johnny break up a couple the other night,” Liv whispered.

Maylee tilted her head to the side. “What was going on?”

“The girl called her safeword, and the guy didn’t stop. Johnny had to intervene.”

“No way.”

“Yes. It was weird to watch. It wasn’t in the Little area, but it was outside. I thought it was going to end badly, but it didn’t. The guy left them alone and walked away.”

“Was the girl okay?”

Liv shrugged. “I’m not sure. I saw Johnny take her to the employees’ room. I know he made sure she was okay at that moment but after, I have no clue. I haven’t seen her at the club since then.”

Maylee nodded then started to focus on her coloring. The club had strict rules about safewords. Well, that was what Daddy said to her anyway. She hadn’t witnessed anything happening before.

She looked over at her Daddy, only to see him talking with Johnny and a couple other guys she didn’t know. He looked like he was having fun talking to them.

Turning back to her coloring, she zoned out as she got back into it.

EZRA

“Heard you had to pull some Dom off of a sub the other night,” Ezra said as Johnny stood next to him. “You off of work right now?”

“Taking my break. Saw you’d come in with Maylee and wanted to check on things,” Johnny replied .

“Sweet of you. Or you just wanted to see if we were going to last or not.”

“No. I knew you guys were going to last if you got together. You two were made for each other.”

Ezra was glad to hear that from somebody. Well, almost everybody thought they were made for each other. Everybody in the town had watched them grow up, how close they were, and how perfect they were for each other.

“Got nothing to say about what happened the other night?” Ezra asked. “How’s the girl?”

“What do you want me to say? It happened. You know about it. Leif sent out an email to remind people to listen to safewords,” Johnny replied. “As far as I know, the girl is fine. She hasn’t come back to the club since then, but that’s not unusual.”

Ezra looked over at Johnny. The way he spoke about the girl made him think it was something more. He didn’t know why, maybe it was the way his voice got a little deeper whenever he said ‘the girl.’

“Has anybody checked up on her? Has anybody made sure the Dom doesn’t go after her?” Ezra asked.

“I’ve made sure the Dom doesn’t go after her, and I don’t know if anybody has checked on her yet. I was going to do that after my shift tonight.”

“Maybe bring her favorite candy or food when you go.”

Ezra had a suspicion he knew the girl.

“Stop meddling in my stuff,” Johnny said.

He raised his hands and let out a chuckle. “You never know if she’s down and sad. You bringing her her favorite candy or food could help her cheer up. ”

Johnny sighed and nodded. This was not how Ezra thought the conversation would go. He figured it would be some random person he saved and not the person he was interested in. From what Ezra remembered, Johnny was professional and didn’t want to mix pleasure with work.

“So, are you making it official or are you guys just going to live together?” Johnny asked. “You know girls. They want weddings and an excuse to go shopping.”

“We’re actually getting married. I proposed a couple days ago.”

Johnny patted him on the back. “Congratulations. Both of you deserve all the happiness in the world.”

“What are we congratulating to?” Leif asked.

“Ezra here has asked Maylee to marry him,” Johnny said before starting to walk away. “I’ve got to get back to work. Tell Maylee I said congratulations.”

A shocked look went over Leif’s face. “I thought you would never ask. But congratulations. Both of you were made for each other.”

“Thanks,” he replied as he looked over at Maylee. “She’s absolutely perfect.”
