The Echo of Unspoken Desires

The morning after the thunderstorm arrived with a crisp, clear light that washed the apartment in shades of pale amber.

Luciel woke up slowly, shifting against the plush cushions of the living room sofa.

The first thing he noticed was the heavy, soft warmth of the fleece blanket tucked securely around his shoulders, covering his bare chest.

The second thing he noticed was the empty space beside him where Kai had been sleeping.

He sat up quickly, panic flaring for a fraction of a second until he saw Adrian.

The older man was sitting at the kitchen island, a steaming mug of coffee gripped in his large hand.

He was already dressed for work in a crisp slate-blue dress shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his elbows to reveal his thick, muscular forearms.

He was staring intently at his laptop, but the moment he heard the rustle of the blanket, his green eyes snapped up, locking onto Luciel with an intensity that made Luciel’s breath catch in his throat.

“Morning,” Adrian said, his voice a low, gravelly baritone that vibrated right through the quiet room. “You slept heavily. I didn’t want to wake you.”

“Adrian...” Luciel muttered, his voice thick with sleep.

He quickly clutched the blanket tightly against his collarbone, realization hitting him.

He looked down and saw that his flannel shirt was still completely unbuttoned, his chest heavy, swollen, and stiff from the milk that had pooled during the night. “Where’s... where’s Kai?”

“I put him back in his crib around four,” Adrian said smoothly, closing his laptop and standing up. He walked into the living room, his tall frame looming over the sofa. “He was completely milk-drunk. You did a good job soothing him through the storm, Luciel.”

Luciel’s face immediately flared into a brilliant crimson. He looked down, his fingers tightening on the fleece. “I... I’m sorry I fell asleep out here like this. Exposed. It’s... it must be weird for you to come out and see me like this.”

“It’s not weird,” Adrian said firmly, stepping closer until he was standing right at the edge of the sofa.

He reached down, his large hand gently catching Luciel’s chin, tilting his head up so their eyes met.

“I told you, Luciel. Stop apologizing for taking care of my son. There is nothing about your body that I find ‘weird.’ Do you understand me?”

Luciel stared up into those deep green eyes, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped bird.

The proximity was intoxicating. He could smell Adrian’s cologne—something woody, sharp, and intensely masculine—mixed with the warm scent of the black coffee.

A sudden, unexpected shiver ran down Luciel’s spine, a tight, pulling tingle blooming deep within his chest.

What is this? Luciel thought, his mind racing as his gaze involuntarily dropped to Adrian’s lips before darting back to his eyes. Why am I looking at him like this? He’s my sister’s ex-husband. He’s my friend. He’s... he’s completely out of my league.

But as Adrian’s thumb lightly brushed against his jawline before letting go, Luciel realized a terrifying truth. He wasn’t just doing this for Kai anymore. He was falling, deeply and hopelessly, for the man standing in front of him.

----

By mid-afternoon, Adrian had left for the office, leaving Luciel alone with his thoughts and a very active baby.

Luciel sat on the nursery rug, holding a soft rattle above Kai’s head. The baby laughed, a bubbly, gurgling sound, his bright green eyes—so identical to Adrian’s—shining with joy. Luciel smiled softly, but his mind was miles away, trapped in the memory of the night before.

He remembered the phantom feeling of lips pressing against his forehead in the darkness. He had been half-asleep, floating in a dream, but he could swear he had felt the tender, reverent touch of Adrian’s mouth against his skin before the blanket was pulled over him.

“Am I losing my mind, Kai?” Luciel whispered, gently bopping the baby’s nose with the rattle. “I’m imagining things now. He’s just grateful. He doesn’t see me that way. Look at me... I’m transforming into some strange, soft version of myself every day.”

He stood up and walked over to the full-length mirror on the closet door, unbuttoning his oversized linen shirt to check his body.

The changes were accelerating. The skin of his chest was impossibly pale, smooth, and stretched tight over the heavy, rounded fullness of his breasts.

His nipples were perpetually dark, swollen, and sensitive, dripping a lone pearl of white fluid the moment the cool air hit them.

His waist felt softer, his hips slightly wider from the fluid retention, and his face was entirely devoid of shadow, his jawline smooth and delicate.

He touched his chest, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. I’m becoming so feminine, he thought, a wave of complex emotion washing over him. Does Adrian look at me and see a freak? Or worse... does he look at me and just see Lucy?

The thought felt like a physical twist in his gut. The idea that Adrian might only value him because he shared a face with the woman who had broken his heart was agonizing. He wanted Adrian to look at him and see Luciel. He wanted Adrian to desire him for exactly who he was, rogue biology and all.

----

When Adrian returned that evening, the tension in the apartment was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Neither of them mentioned the morning, but the air between them felt charged, every glance lingering just a second too long, every accidental brush of their shoulders sending sparks through the quiet space.

Luciel was standing at the kitchen stove, stirring a pot of chicken stew for dinner. Because his chest was particularly engorged and heavy that evening, he hadn’t tightened his apron, letting it hang loosely over his unbuttoned shirt to prevent any painful friction against his sensitive nipples.

Adrian walked into the kitchen, discarding his suit jacket onto a barstool. He stood right behind Luciel, leaning over his shoulder to look into the pot.

“Smells incredible,” Adrian murmured, his chest brushing against Luciel’s back as he spoke.

Luciel stiffened, his hand freezing on the wooden spoon. The sudden, intense heat of Adrian’s body behind him made his breath hitch. “It’s... it’s just a simple stew. It’ll be ready in ten minutes.”

“Good. I’m starving,” Adrian said, but he didn’t move away. He stayed right there, his green eyes dropping down to the side of Luciel’s neck, tracing the delicate, smooth slope of his collarbone where a faint trail of dried white milk was visible near the unbuttoned collar.

Adrian reached out, his large, warm fingers gently touching the skin of Luciel’s shoulder, turning him around slowly until Luciel was pinned between the kitchen counter and Adrian’s broad, imposing frame.

“Adrian?” Luciel whispered, his blue eyes wide, his heart hammering against his ribs.

He instinctively brought his hands up, resting them against Adrian’s firm chest to keep some distance, but the feel of the hard muscle beneath the dress shirt only made his head spin faster. “What’s... what’s wrong?”

“You’re leaking, Luciel,” Adrian said softly, his voice dropping to a low, husky whisper. He gestured with his eyes down toward Luciel’s chest.

Luciel looked down and gasped. The heavy, warm pressure he had been trying to ignore all afternoon had finally broken through.

A massive, dark circular wet spot had bloomed directly over his right breast, the thin linen shirt turning completely translucent, exposing the dark rose circle of his swollen nipple underneath.

“Oh god,” Luciel stammered, his face burning with intense humiliation. He tried to pull away, to turn back to the stove, but Adrian didn’t let him. Adrian placed both of his large hands on the counter on either side of Luciel’s hips, effectively trapping him.

“Stop hiding it from me,” Adrian murmured, his green eyes burning with an intense, unreadable hunger as he stared at the damp fabric. “Does it hurt right now? Is the pressure too much?”

“It’s... it’s really tight,” Luciel confessed, his voice trembling, his eyes locked onto Adrian’s throat.

He was so attracted to the man in this moment it physically ached.

He wanted to lean up, to press his face into Adrian’s neck, to beg him to hold him.

“Kai has been sleeping for three hours. My body... it doesn’t know how to stop producing. It just keeps building up.”

“Then feed him,” Adrian said softly, his gaze lifting to meet Luciel’s eyes. “Or... let me help you. Dr. Evans said if the pressure is too painful, it needs to be expressed. Let me get the warm towels.”

“No, no, it’s fine, I’ll just wake Kai,” Luciel squeaked, his core tingling violently at the thought of Adrian handling his heavy, leaking breasts with those large, warm hands. The sheer eroticism of the thought terrified him. “I’ll go get him.”

Adrian stared at him for a long, heavy moment, his breathing rhythmic and deep. For a second, Luciel thought Adrian was going to lean down and kiss him. The space between their faces felt non-existent. Luciel’s lips parted slightly, his eyes fluttering closed in silent, desperate anticipation.

But Adrian pulled back. He let out a long, slow breath, running a hand through his brown hair. “Right. Go wake him. I’ll set the table.”

Luciel practically bolted from the kitchen, his entire body trembling with a mixture of intense arousal and crushing frustration. He almost kissed me, Luciel thought, clutching his throbbing chest as he entered the nursery. Or am I just projecting my own desperate desires onto him?

----

An hour later, the dinner was finished, and the apartment had settled into its nighttime routine. Kai was awake, full, and content, sitting in his small bouncy seat on the living room floor.

Luciel sat on the sofa, his linen shirt completely undone, his bare, rounded chest exposed as he applied a fresh pair of nursing pads. He was exhausted, the emotional rollercoaster of the day draining his energy.

Adrian walked into the living room carrying a small bottle of soothing chamomile lotion. He didn’t ask for permission; he simply sat down on the sofa right next to Luciel, stretching his long legs out.

“Turn around,” Adrian commanded softly.

Luciel blinked, holding the fresh pads against his chest. “What?”

“The doctor said the skin on your chest gets tight and dry from the stretching and the lactation,” Adrian explained, pouring a small amount of the cool lotion into his large palms, rubbing them together to warm the cream.

“You can’t reach your own upper back and shoulders properly to relieve the tension. Turn around. Let me massage it.”

Luciel’s throat tightened. “Adrian, you don’t have to do that—”

“Luciel. Turn around,” Adrian repeated, his green eyes soft but completely unyielding.

Defeated and entirely breathless, Luciel slowly turned his back to Adrian, pulling his blonde hair over one shoulder. He kept the linen shirt draped over his front to cover his heavy breasts, but his entire pale, freckled back was left completely bare.

The moment Adrian’s large, warm hands made contact with his skin, Luciel let out a sharp, involuntary gasp.

Adrian’s hands were incredibly strong, yet remarkably gentle. He pressed his palms into the tight muscles of Luciel’s shoulders, kneading away the knots of stress that had accumulated from carrying the baby and dealing with the constant physical demands of nursing.

“You’re so tense,” Adrian murmured, his thumbs sliding down the sides of Luciel’s spine, making the younger man shiver.

“It’s... it’s a lot of weight to carry,” Luciel whispered, closing his eyes as a profound, intoxicating warmth spread through his body.

Every place Adrian touched felt like it was on fire.

He wanted to lean back into Adrian’s muscular chest, to let the older man wrap his strong arms around his soft, changing body.

Adrian’s hands slowly slid forward over the tops of Luciel’s shoulders, his fingers lightly brushing against the delicate skin right above the swelling curve of Luciel’s breasts.

Luciel’s breath hitched, his entire body going completely rigid. A sudden, massive rush of fluid filled his nursing pads, a hot let-down triggered purely by the intense, romantic arousal of Adrian’s touch.

“Ah...” Luciel whimpered softly, his hands clutching the linen fabric over his lap.

Adrian stopped moving his hands, his palms resting heavily on Luciel’s shoulders.

He could feel the rapid, frantic beating of Luciel’s heart through his skin.

He could hear the soft, breathless whimpers escaping the younger man’s lips.

Adrian’s green eyes darkened with a fierce, possessive desire.

He wanted nothing more than to slide his hands lower, to cup the heavy, milk-filled warmth of Luciel’s chest, to turn him around and taste the sweet, milky breath from his lips.

But he knew the boundaries. He knew he had to be patient.

“All done,” Adrian whispered, his voice rough and laced with a thick, restrained passion. He slowly withdrew his hands, the loss of his warmth leaving Luciel feeling suddenly cold and empty.

Luciel slowly turned around, his big blue eyes wide, dark with an unspoken, desperate attraction. He looked at Adrian, his lips trembling. “Thank you, Adrian. That... that helped a lot.”

“Anytime, Luciel,” Adrian said, his green eyes locked onto Luciel’s lips for a long, suffocating second before he stood up from the sofa. “I’m going to check on Kai. Get some rest.”

Luciel watched him walk away, his heart heavy with a beautiful, agonizing longing.

They hadn’t confessed, the words were still locked tightly behind their teeth, but in the quiet, charged silence of the living room, the attraction between them had become an undeniable, living force that was waiting for the perfect moment to break completely free.
