More Than Clickbait: A Steamy Brother's Best Friend Secret Identity Rom-Com (Below Deck Book 2)
Recap
More Than Clickbait is a continuation of More Than Shipmates. Skipping the first book will mean a few things go over your head, so I highly recommend you start at the very beginning. I hear it’s a very good place to start. That said, here’s a little catch-up to remind you what went down in More Than Shipmates…
Stand-up comedian Tom Parks and drama-school reject Eliza Chapman met on their first day on board the cruise ship Neptune, where they now work as entertainment hosts. Eliza said she wouldn’t date a coworker, but the vibes were vibing between her and Tom and her resolve started to wane. He made her laugh and inspired her to let her hair down. Meanwhile, her charming British mentor, Oscar Harvey, encouraged Eliza to step out of her shell professionally and invited her to his secret musical theatre workshop nights, where Eliza built her confidence performing again.
When feelings started to grow, Tom and Oscar made an unofficial pact not to make a move on Eliza – but, ultimately, Eliza couldn’t resist Oscar the theatre kid. They snuck around shagging everywhere except in their goddamn cabin while keeping their relationship a secret from Tom, who was working through the grief of losing his father by sleeping with half the crew.
Oscar got promoted to activities manager, which almost saw him working on another ship – boooo – but someone owed him a favour, sohe came back to Neptune – yay! Oscar left for his six-week contract break, and Tom confessed his love for Eliza, inspired by an unrelated Oscar pep talk, only to be met with heartbreak.
There were a lot of tears, an unwanted reunion, and there miiiight have been some miscommunication, but eventually, Oscar and Eliza got their happily ever after, and she and Tom resolved their friendship. Still, Tom remains ambivalent towards Oscar.
Eliza’s now got the best of both worlds – don’t sing it, don’t sing it, don’t sing it – working as an entertainment host and occasional lounge singer.
Oh! And most people call Oscar by his surname, “Harvey”, because his first name is code for “man overboard” and there have been some false alarms…
Now you’re up to speed, I’d like to welcome you back on board the ship. It’s good to sea you again.
(Sorry).
