Dionysus

I had been checking my texts, waiting for Samara to respond for the last couple of hours, but I hadn’t heard back.

I assumed she was still in the air, and as soon as she touched down and got settled, she would hit me up.

The idea of staying at our house while she was away wasn’t even an option, so I came to stay with Zeus until she got back.

It took a little convincing to get Streets to leave Dark and Lovely for a couple of days, but the nigga did it. I wanted to call a meeting about Bike Weekend and needed everyone to attend. All the guys except Chevy was here at Zeus’ crib.

“Can I get you niggas’ attention?” I shouted.

Foe ran his hand through his wild locs. “Talk, little nigga. We’ve been standing around for ten minutes, Farrakanny Annie head ass.”

“Yo momma, nigga,” I shot back.

Preach laughed. “Aye, yo, he might be right. Foe, yo momma sure knows how to hook up a Malcolm X special.”

Diamond and Streets’s cackles were loud. “Not Foe momma. She does be having the wigs, though.” Diamond laughed harder.

Zeus shook his head. “You muhfuckas are terrible.”

“They are, though,” Mali chimed in.

I pointed to him. “Don’t start. I’m trying to be nice, nigga, but that wheelchair ain’t going to save yo ass from being roasted. Now, I want to talk about Bike Weekend.”

Monfua cheesed. “Now this is what I’m talking about. Some active shit.”

I rubbed my hands together as I nodded. “Right. So, check it. I’m thinking we do a beach-style bash. We can put up a little stage so Scooter can perform and —”

Diamond waved his hands. “Wait a fucking minute. Scooter? Nigga, let me get the mic.”

Preach dropped his head. “We’re good, Diamond and Harmony.”

Everyone laughed, but now I was getting irritated.

“I’m for real. Look, Chevy loves shit like this, especially when it involves giving back.

He’s been going through the motions, just as all of us have.

I’m doing this shit with or without y’all.

I figured we could have other bike crews come out to join.

A little food, music, clothing drive. Hell, Preach, you can probably find some lost souls.

I just want to do something that will not only put the Zoo on the map for the right reason but also pay tribute to the one nigga who’s been there for all of us,” I finished.

I could see them all slowly nodding. “I’m with it. I’ll cater the food and drinks,” Monfua said.

“I got you on the music,” Beans added.

I started clapping. “That’s what I’m talking about. I’ll get all the logistics together and get the bruhs to help out too.”

Zeus approached me. “If Pops could see you right now, he would be proud of you, Dio. Keep this shit up,” he said as he ran his hand over my head.

A corny heckle left me. “I’m growing up, but I’m still a menace.”

I knew Zeus was proud, but I was prouder of him. He wasn’t the same nigga who had left California. He was different, mature. The fact that he allowed me to play my role as Prince of the Zoo said it all.

Although Zeus and Chevy were best friends and started all this shit, Zeus wasn’t the type of nigga who would run a crew.

He was okay with being a part of and moving as the muscle.

I was the opposite. I was a leader by nature, and just as Chevy said, in the moments he wasn’t around to call the shots, I would.

All the guys started to leave except Streets, Peanut, and Beans.

“Ayo, we hitting the rink or what?” Streets asked.

A grin landed on my face. The rink had become our little chill spot. I fucked with it so much that I was considering investing in my own. I knew the owner at that one we went to was about sick of us, but I didn’t care. As long as those niggas didn’t fuck with me, I was cool.

I pulled out my phone to see Mars’ location, and it showed she was still in the state.

I knew a flight to Spain wasn’t that long, but I decided to give her a little time before I started on my demon shit.

In the meantime, I was going to try my best to have fun just as I expected her to.

However, my antenna was still up because if anything were to happen to Samara, I’d probably kill everybody.
