Chapter 14
Liam's pov
I am in the meeting room now, but my mind was not here. I keep thinking of that dark brown eyes.
Today I woke up early and came to the office to complete the yesterday's work. It was not my intention to get her here early, but I needed that files to be done.
When she came, I know that she hurried up here because she hasn't done her hair today.
She looked cute in that bun but she looks beautiful when she leave her hair down.
When I was drinking coffee and she was sitting there in front of me pushing her strands of hair behind her ear.
It was a beautiful sight to see in the morning.
When she looked up I immediately turned my head. I think she knew I was seeing her. After the work she went out and I didn't see her after that.
When I was working, at noon Melissa texted me that she was in the elevator coming to my office. I was confused so I hurried out of the office to meet her.
Well I didn't expected to dash into Destiny. When our eyes met, I am sure the world around us stopped. I was lost in her eyes. My eyes looked at every inch of her face. I saw her licking her lips like she was inviting me.
I was about to lean forward when she started pushing me. I came back to my senses and got up from her. Then I came to know she pushed me because Mellisa was standing there.
I thought to play with her, I knew it was my fault not seeing where I was going but it was nice getting a reaction from her.
It was good to see Mellisa and Destiny talking like that. It warmed by heart.
After I asked her to cancel the lunch appointment, and when she asked why. I lowly mumbled that 'It was meant for us to eat. But we already ate, it was no use again for going lunch'. Thank God she didn't hear me.
"Sir, is this OK with you" I hear someone asking me.
I turned towards him and looked around to see that I was in the meeting. Damn I didn't hear a thing.
I nodded my head. I don't know what I agreed.
The meeting went for another ten minutes.
I made my way towards the my office. I saw that Destiny was not in her desk. Where would she go?
I sat on the chair and lifted the glass to drink water but it was empty. I told Destiny to refill it before I went to the meeting. I put the glass on the table and went towards the door to see whether she had come back.
Before I can open the door, the door was opened by Destiny. And next thing I know my shirt is wet.
Now it's her fault for not looking where she was going because she dashed into me by spilling water on me. She let out a yelp when she dashed.
Well you two didn't fall to the ground like last time.
I looked down to see that my white shirt is sticking to my body. I looked up and saw Destiny was shocked seeing me. She was looking at my stomach where the shirt was wet. Her one hand was holding the holder of the jug and other hand was placed beneath the jug for support.
"I am so sorry sir, I didn't see you there" she went back to desk and placed the jug there and took out few tissues from there and came towards me.
I think she was not in the state of thinking because there was water beneath us. She was in a hurry that she stepped on the water and slipped.
I caught her in my arms when she landed on me. Our bodies was not touching because her hands were gripping my arms.
She quickly moved away from me. I can see the blush on her face.
"I really didn't mean to do that. I thought you were still in the meeting. You said about refilling the glass. I forgot that, but then I remembered and came to refill it. I didn't see you there. I was in a little hurry... " her rambling was cut off because I kissed her cheek. Bold move Liam.
I was bending to her level, so I can see her face more clear. Her cheeks reddened more than before. It was cute see her rambling.
Her eyes were wide and her mouth was open slightly. I lifted up my hand and closed her mouth saying "You look cute when you ramble. Now before I come out of the bathroom I want this to be cleaned" with that I went to bathroom and locked it.
I was smiling like a fool. I stripped from the clothes and entered the shower. I was feeling a little hot so I hit the shower.
After few minutes I came out and got ready. I left the buttons open and came out of the bathroom rubbing my hair with the towel.
The door to my office room opened and Destiny came inside. When she saw me her eyes was again widened. She was staring at my abs.
I smirked at her and asked "Like what you see princess" I throw the towel inside the bathroom where my old clothes were there.
The floor was cleaned. She did a good job.
She cleared her throat and looked around avoiding me while she said "Sorry sir, I thought you were in the bathroom. So I thought to refill it before you came. But I will come back after few minutes" her face was red and dashed out of the room.
I chuckled at her and buttoned up the shirt. I sat on the chair and started working.
I heared a knock, I said 'come in'. The door opened and Destiny came with the same jug and a file in her hand.
She refilled the glass and kept the jug next to it. She put the file infront of me and said "This is your schedule for tomorrow sir" I took it from her and opened it.
"And you have three days business trip in London. So tomorrow night you should be leaving from here" she continued.
I was looking through the schedule and started thinking what to do with her. Now that she is my PA, she should tag along. I can spend time with her more.
"OK. Be ready at seven tomorrow I will pick you up from your apartment. Tomorrow take a half day, you should pack your things as well" I said by closing the file and looked at her.
She was surprised and asked me "I should come with you, I mean I should join you to come to London".
"I think that's what PA are for. I can't handle the work alone. You should come" I said in a stern voice. This project is important, I can't handle the work alone that's true but along with that I don't want to be far from her.
"Yes sir" she replied and went out.
Again she came inside and stood in front me. I waited for her to speak but she was opening and closing her mouth like she don't know what to say. She was nervous.
I waited for few minutes and asked "Why are you here Ms Walker? Is there any thing you need?"
"You can't do that" she said. I know what she is talking about but I want to play with her.
I smirked at her and asked innocently "What did I do?"
She was fiddling with her fingers. She was looking down not able meet my eyes. I got up and stood beside her. She still didn't know I was beside her.
"You can't just do that. It's inappropriate" she said.
"You mean this" I asked her by kissing her cheek again.
She jumped a feet away from me like she didn't expected me to be near her.
In shock she answered "You can't just kiss me like that. It's very unprofessional" she was pointing her index finger to me.
"It means I can do it outside the building" I asked keeping my right hand in the pocket. I was still smirking.
"No No that's not what I meant" she was again not meeting eyes "You can't just do that OK. You are not my boyfriend to do that" saying that she dashed out of the room.
I was looking the way she went. Well I should change that soon. I went to my seat and started working.
Evening came along, Destiny came and said she was leaving. I stayed back to complete the work.
After an hour my phone started ringing, I saw that my father was calling. I picked up and said "Father".
"Hello son, how are you "he asked. I was confused, why would he ask that. I think he took it serious now about father and son relationship.
I turned my chair towards the glass window and replied "I am good, so how are you. Yesterday mom came by my home" I was seeing the view in front of me.
"Well I am good. I know about your mom visit. She talked about it" he said.
"Why don't you come, you can see the house and have dinner. And bring mother along with you " I asked.
"That's OK with me. When can we come?"
"Maybe next weekend, I won't be here this weekend. I am going to London for business purpose"
"OK son. I am very proud of you for what you have become today "
Somewhere in my heart I felt a proud feeling because it was coming from your own father. It's different from what others says and what your own parents say.
I smiled a little and replied "Thanks father".
I started explaining to him about the project. He also gave me some ideas. But suddenly he asked.
"I heared that you like a girl "
I groaned a little and replied "Did mother say that to you".
He chuckled and said "You can't expect to keep it secret from your mother. Do you?"
"She can't I guess"
"Did you know before we had you, we broke up one time" he asked.
I was shocked, I mean I knew they were highschool sweethearts but I didn't know their story.
"I didn't know that" I said.
"We were both young and loved each other. But once I was so drunk in a party that I wouldn't even recognize who sat next to me. Lily had a rival, she dressed up exactly like your mother and sat next to me" he voice was getting low as he talked.
"I thought it was your mother and kissed her. Next thing I know I was been slapped on the face. Lily was infront of me crying there. I came to my senses and started running behind her. She broke up with me that night".
I was curious of what happened next so I asked "What happened next".
"I was devastated after that. She was my world, I didn't know how to function without her. I was ashamed of myself for what I did. I didn't leave it there, I grabbed every opportunity I could to get her back. It took me four months to get her back, to gain her trust" he said.
I might have not liked them. But I like the love they had for each other. I am hoping to get that.
"I didn't knew that. I knew you both were highschool sweethearts" I said.
"You are correct. It's hard to get the trust back once it's lost. And if you are lucky enough and you get back, make it precious"
"You are right father" I said and thought about Destiny. If it's fate that bought us here, then I will not miss this.
"So can we meet her" he asked.
"I don't know father, I should talk to her. I have to know what she thinks of me first" I said.
"You can invite her for dinner, we will be meeting in the next weekend " he said. It's a good plan, till then I have time. I can make a progress till then.
"Sure father " I said.
"OK son, you can continue with your work" saying that he hung up.
I saw the night sight infront of me. I have talk to her and see what she thinks of me. I will not loose her.
In office, it's only boss and employee relationship. I have to try harder like my parents said.
I will not mess up this time.
