Chapter Thirty-Seven
Olivia
Jace’s office door was shut, which could only mean one thing.
I kicked the door twice. “Really, you two? You have ten minutes before people get here.”
“You want to join us?” Jace called, voice husky.
“Tempting, but no. Don’t mind me, I’ll just be out here doing my job and setting up the conference room for your presentation.
” I set their coffees down on my desk and started prepping the room with the packets Kayden had me print earlier.
I’d just finished placing one at each seat when the guys walked in, grinning and holding their coffees.
Kayden handed me his laptop to hook up for the presentation and I looked between them with raised eyebrows. “Did you enjoy your afternoon fun?”
Jace chuckled and pulled me against him in a side hug. “I did, yes. Nothing like having your dick sucked before a big meeting. But next time you can join him on your knees, sweetheart.”
I rolled my eyes as he squeezed me.
“Jace gets too turned on watching me present otherwise. Came in his pants the first time,” Kayden said dryly.
I pulled back and looked at Jace who was glaring at Kayden. “If you’re going to tell her, at least give her all the information. That makes me sound questionable at best.”
I smiled mischievously before turning to Kayden. “He came in his pants with me too. After I got home from our date. And he even tried to convince me not to tell you.”
Kayden burst into laughter. “So, this is a thing you do, babe?”
“No, it’s not,” Jace insisted, looking adamantly between us. “You both use your little tricks on me and then it happens.”
“What was your trick?” Kayden asked.
“Dry humping,” I said proudly.
“Nice.” He held up his hand for a high five which I met with enthusiasm. “I jerked him off through his pants under the conference room table.”
I snickered and bit my lip as my skin flushed at the thought.
“Okay, that’s enough. I’m glad you both enjoyed that. Now we have a job to do.” Jace kissed me on the cheek. “Thanks for the coffee, sweetheart.”
“Don’t mention it,” I said. They glanced at each other nervously and shifted their eyes back and forth to me like they were trying to communicate something. “Do you have something you want to say? Please don’t tell me you changed the final design at the last minute.”
Jace took my hand. “We want to go on a date, all of us together. You said you’re all in, right?”
“This is the conversation you want to have right now?” I gestured to the blank TV screen.
“We know you’re leaving early and…” Jace trailed off. “Liv, if we’re really doing this, I want to fucking do it. Yesterday. I love when we’re all together already and I want to take you both out.”
I looked at Kayden. “I agree with him, I want to be with you both, Olivia. Do you still want to date both of us?”
I sighed. “Of course I want that. I wouldn’t pursue this just to steal your boyfriend.”
Kayden chuckled. “I wouldn’t blame you if you did, he’s pretty desirable.”
“Yeah, he is,” I said, shamelessly checking him out before turning back to Kayden. “But so are you.”
Jace smiled proudly.
I took a deep breath. “I don’t want to wait either but if we’re all together then someone else needs to watch Kaylee, which means telling people about us. I don’t know how I feel about that if we aren’t telling Kaylee.”
“I think I can help with that,” Jace said sheepishly. “My moms may already know about this. Or at least, they know I thought this was a possibility.”
“Okay,” I said cautiously.
“They are completely on board with this and will never say anything in front of her. I told them before I realized you’d want to keep it quiet, and I’m sorry I didn’t anticipate that. I should have.”
“It’s okay,” I said. “Your moms are not even remotely a concern when it comes to Kaylee finding out. I know they’ll keep it to themselves.”
“They’ll watch her overnight if I ask. That way the three of us can go out and have a real date without having to worry about when we get home, or where we’re all going to sleep afterward. If we want to spend the night together, it’s an option. No pressure, of course.”
I laughed. “Do not even try to be gentlemanly about this. We’re spending the night together.”
Kayden elbowed Jace. “Don’t argue with the woman about this.”
I smiled at him. “I like that plan, Jace. She loves your moms and she’ll be excited about a sleepover. I’m pretty sure she’s sick of being with me all the time.”
“After the last impromptu babysitting, they’ve been on my case about seeing her again anyway,” Jace said, running a hand through his curls. “Ima’s dying for Sophia to have her baby, so Kaylee will help ease her wait if they get to babysit once in a while.”
“Can we go out tomorrow?” I asked, heart racing as I thought about this. These two gorgeous men really wanted me. I was either the luckiest woman in the world or the most delusional to think this was a viable option. Didn’t I have a fake boyfriend a few weeks ago? Now I have two real boyfriends?
The elevator dinged and I turned around to see Sutton stepping into the office suite. Jace gave me a quick kiss on the cheek. “Tomorrow.”
“Hey, Liv,” Sutton said as she walked into the conference room and gave me a hug. “I’m still not used to seeing you here.”
“It’s good to see you,” I said, sliding the coffee on the conference table toward her. “Jace had me pick that up for you.”
“Thank you,” she said, picking it up and taking a sip. “Jackson misses you at the bar. He keeps telling Adrian he’s going to quit if they don’t get a replacement as good as you soon.”
“They’ll never find one,” Jace said with a flirty smile. “And Jackson still won’t quit. He loves that place.”
“Oh, they know both of those things,” Sutton said, giving Jace a hug. She held out a hand for Kayden. “It’s nice to see you again, Kayden. I’m excited to see the updated designs. Jace has spoken really highly about working with you.”
“Thanks, it’s nice to see you again too,” Kayden said.
I stepped back to set up the presentation.
“Martin will be joining us, correct?” Sutton asked.
“Yes,” Jace said. “He’s not very happy with me, so I don’t expect him to be pleasant.”
“He’s not very happy with any of us,” Sutton said, sounding unimpressed. “He’s working himself right out of a job if he doesn’t stop trying to block everything I’ve worked to change around here.”
“Not to overstep,” I said, “but if he could stop throwing tantrums on the phone, Jace would have a better chance of keeping his assistants.”
“Is it that bad?” Sutton asked me. “I knew he was bitter, but I didn’t know his behavior was inappropriate.”
“Oh, he’s a royal prick,” I said. “Sometimes I put him on hold just to see if he notices or if he keeps yelling until I pick up the phone again. The latter is most common.”
“I should have known the guy my father selected wouldn’t be able to get on board with my vision,” Sutton said with a shake of her head.
The elevator dinged again as board members started arriving.
“Well, I’m sorry he’s treating you that way.
Sounds like tomorrow’s problem, but I want to talk to you and Jace to find out everything. ”
Jace nodded.
“Of course, I’ll schedule us a call,” I said.
I finished with the setup and wished the boys luck as I left to start greeting the board members.
A tall, gray-haired, light-skinned man in a suit stepped off the elevator and the look of superiority on his face nearly made me take a step back.
I straightened my spine and held out my hand.
“Good afternoon, Martin. I’m Olivia, it’s so nice to finally meet you in person. ”
His lip curled ever so slightly before he shook my hand. “Hello, Olivia. I do hope Jace is treating you well.” There was a weaselly glimmer in his blue eyes I didn’t like. “He certainly seems to like you more than his previous assistants, and I can see why.”
I dropped his hand and smoothed the skirt of my black dress. “Jace and I are good friends. He was generous enough to offer me this job when I needed it.”
Martin’s eyes roamed over my body, sending a chill through me. “I’m sure he’s taking good care of you.” He leaned closer, speaking quietly. “But if you tire of him, I can always find a place for you in New York where the real company work happens. I’ll take good care of you too.”
I drew back, about to tell him to fuck off, when I felt Jace’s presence behind me. His hand grazed the small of my back as he held his hand out for Martin. “Glad you could make it,” Jace said.
“Did I have a choice?” Martin asked. “You’re insisting on increasing the budget without justification. Hardly the actions of a vice president, let alone the future owner of this company.”
Jace let the fake smile slip from his face. “Say what you want about me, Martin, but if you talk to my assistant like that again, it’ll be the last thing you ever do at this company.”
Martin gave Jace one last look of disdain and walked toward the conference room without a word.
“Fuck him,” I said.
“I’ll talk to Sutton after this meeting. I don’t want him anywhere near you again, Olivia.”
“I’m fine,” I said. “He’s just trying to intimidate me because I work for you.”
Jace glanced at the boardroom where Martin had seated himself next to Sutton and everyone else was sitting around the table chatting.
“Well, he just snapped my last shred of patience. He can yell at me all he wants, but if there’s a chance he’s making you or any other woman at this company uncomfortable, I’m not keeping my mouth shut.
Can you make sure Sutton stays and everything else is canceled for the day? ”
“Of course, babe. Now go show that asshole your amazing new facility so he can eat shit.”
Jace laughed and walked back to the boardroom. I was confident Sutton would handle Martin, but I didn’t think he’d go quietly.
