Chapter Forty-One
Olivia
I opened my eyes and rolled toward the sound of soft voices. Jace and Kayden were sitting up against the headboard with Kayden’s head on Jace’s chest as they smiled, clearly teasing each other.
Jace’s smile expanded as he noticed I was awake, and Kayden looked over at me. “Good morning, beautiful.” Kayden reached for my hand and pulled me to his side.
I snuggled into him, and they both shifted so that Jace and I lay with our heads resting on Kayden’s chest. I’d been in the middle when we first fell asleep last night but at some point we’d all found ourselves awake again, illuminated by the glow of the city lights streaming in through the living room windows nearby.
Kayden had slowly entered me from behind and Jace had grabbed lube and entered Kayden.
The result had been some sort of amazing chain where it felt like we were all moving together.
Kayden had been in absolute bliss, moaning and kissing us both back and forth.
The intimacy and connection between the three of us seemed to skyrocket when we were all together, further enhancing the effect of our individual partnerships.
“We want to go to Six Flags,” Jace said, pulling me from my thoughts. His green eyes were lit up like a kid on Christmas morning and my heart filled seeing him so full of excitement.
“Babe, we agreed to go to Six Flags. You want to go to Six Flags,” Kayden said.
I chuckled. “You want to go right now?”
“Tomorrow,” Jace said.
I tilted my chin and gave them each a kiss. “Fine with me,” I said. “Kaylee will be thrilled.”
“Kayden has limits on the whole theme park thing,” Jace said. “Go ahead, babe.”
Kayden sighed and searched my face like he was worried I’d care. I would one-thousand percent not give a shit what his concerns were. I was as happy to avoid things that made him anxious as Jace was.
“I do not want to go anywhere near rides that are fast and spin in circles—those make people vomit and I have a pretty intense vomit phobia. I’m not willing to work on it because the only way to resolve it is exposure therapy and I will not be doing that.”
I wrinkled my brow. “Other people vomiting or you vomiting? Or is it the anticipation of vomit?”
“All of the above.”
“Okay, and you know children throw up more often than is ideal?” I asked. Kaylee had brought home at least one stomach bug per winter since the beginning of her existence. “Our daughter will throw up around you at some point.”
“Jace also mentioned that and the germs in general. He said he’s seen more vomit since he started hanging out with the two of you than he did in college.”
I laughed and Jace smiled proudly. “It’s true.”
Kayden frowned, looking somewhat remorseful as he continued, “I’m prepared to deal with the three of you should a stomach bug plague our lives, but I will not be an optimal caretaker for any of you.”
I kissed him and smiled. “It’s okay. Jace is a great caretaker. He’s helped us through a few stomach bugs and never gets sick himself. Should we continue with your theme park concerns?”
“Sure, but you’ll note a theme,” Kayden said with a wrinkled nose.
“I don’t ride rollercoasters. One, vomit.
Two, while I understand the actual physics and stability process, there’s still something about being thrown upside down that seems like it should be against physics, and I’m not interested in placing my life in the hands of centripetal force. ”
“Fair enough; I assume that’s how we stay in the seat when they go upside down?” I asked.
Jace shook his head and his eyes went wide as he groaned. “No, do not ask questions like that, Liv.”
I shifted my eyes between them. Kayden pinched Jace’s side and rolled his eyes. “He’s just cranky because he got a physics lesson before his coffee.”
“Okay, well then forget I asked, I don’t want one of those.”
“Are you sure? I’m very sexy when I share knowledge.” He adjusted his glasses with one finger and I felt a jolt of desire.
“Wow. Now I know why Jace struggles at the office,” I said.
Jace laughed and kissed me as Kayden shook his head affectionately at us. “Just tell her the last theme park condition, baby,” Jace said.
“I’m going to need us to get through this without Kaylee wanting cotton candy, because the idea of pink and blue vomit is an image I can’t get out of my head.”
I smiled at him. “Kaylee has never had cotton candy, there is no reason she should start tomorrow.”
“Or ever?” he asked hopefully.
“It’s literally all sugar; I will never fight you on this one,” I said. “Is that all?”
“Yep.”
“Then I guess we’re going to Six Flags tomorrow,” I said. “I want to pick Kaylee up soon, but Jace said you’re a good cook.”
Kayden smirked at me and shook his head at Jace. “I can make us breakfast before you go.” He kissed my forehead.
“I may not cook much,” Jace said, sliding down our bodies. “But I can simultaneously get you both off.” He raised his eyebrows in suggestion and started stroking Kayden while rubbing my clit.
“I could really get used to mornings like this,” I said, as Kayden and I curled into each other and Jace worked to bring us both to orgasm. I was going to become very attached to these two if they kept making me feel like I could have all this and still be a great mom to Kaylee.
“Come on, Kayden!” Kaylee said, dragging her father toward the log flume ride.
He turned back to look at Jace and me. “It’s fall in Boston and we’re going to get soaked? I have new amusement park fears after this trip. Hypothermia, for starters.”
Jace reached for him and gave his hand a squeeze. “I’m sure you do. Let her have this one, and we can buy new clothes at the gift shop if we get too wet.”
Kayden sighed and picked up his pace to keep up with Kaylee.
“I love watching them together,” I said, looping my arm through Jace’s and resting my head on his shoulder as we walked.
We weren’t exactly hiding our relationship from Kaylee, but we had agreed not to use the word dating and to draw the physical line at no kissing in front of her for now.
“I wish he hadn’t missed so much time with her.
I feel like I’ll never be able to make it up to him. ”
Jace kissed the top of my head. “You did the best that you could with the situation you were in, Liv. No one has a right to judge you for that, and we both know he doesn’t.”
I sighed. “Yeah, it’s just, look at them.” I smiled as Kayden bent down while Kaylee climbed onto his shoulders. She must have somehow convinced him that she needed to be carried the rest of the way.
“Yeah, he’s a really hot dad,” Jace said. “Not to mention how hot it is that he dove in headfirst with being in her life. He’s amazing with her.”
“Yeah, he is,” I said. “I’m really falling for him, Jace.”
He squeezed me in a side hug. “I love that for you both.”
I slid my arm around his waist. “This feels too good to be true. The three of us, this connection…” I trailed off, unable to find words to describe it.
“I know what you mean. I’m scared too, Liv. But I’ll do anything for the three of you.”
I sighed contentedly. “I know you will. Your confidence is why I trust all of us to figure it out and make it work.”
Jace stopped walking and turned me to face him. “If we’re open and honest with each other like we were last night, not just in bed but in the rest of our lives too, we’ll be just fine. There’s too much love and support for us not to be.”
I tipped my chin to kiss him, forgetting why we shouldn’t until I heard my daughter’s voice.
“Are you coming?” Kaylee yelled at us over her shoulder as they approached the log flume ride.
“I don’t want to ride this,” I groaned. “I know we can’t let him suffer alone, but we are going to get soaked.”
“We’re coming, kid,” Jace replied to Kaylee as he took my hand and pulled me forward to catch up. “After this I’ll take her on a few rollercoasters so Kayden can have a break.”
“I don’t have to do those either, right?” I asked with a grin.
He shook his head. “Guess I’ll be the thrill-seeking parent.”
“It’s not the thrill; Kayden really got to me with his vomit fear. He’s not wrong.”
Jace laughed and tossed his arm around my shoulder as we entered the queue for the log flume and Kayden set Kaylee down. She launched into a barrage of questions about the ride and the guys patiently answered one after another, after another.
After we got completely drenched—as predicted—Jace bought us all new, dry clothes at the gift shop while Kayden purchased a stuffed pterodactyl that Kaylee convinced him she needed.
We changed into our dry clothes and Jace and Kaylee took off for the rollercoasters which were too close to the spinning rides for Kayden, giving us an opportunity to sneak away for ice cream and stollen kisses.
“Are you having fun?” he asked as we sat on a park bench, his arm around my shoulders.
I licked my strawberry ice cream and smiled at him. “I really am.”
“Good,” he said. “I was hoping that in addition to the family dates, you and I could go out alone once a week? We can wait until Kaylee’s asleep so you don’t lose any time with her. Jace already agreed to watch her on those nights.”
“Of course.” I kissed him. Jace and I were together all day every day, and Jace and Kayden could be alone whenever I was with Kaylee, so it made sense to be deliberate about scheduling one-on-one time with Kayden. “You and I are going to be just fine, Kayden.”
I rested my head on his shoulder.
“Good. Because there is no way that man is letting us go,” Kayden teased as he kissed the top of my head. “And I really don’t want to let you go either.”
By the time Jace and Kaylee returned from the rollercoasters, Kaylee looked tired, and we decided to grab a quick dinner before heading home. After a hasty meal, Jace carried Kaylee back to the car and she fell asleep on his shoulder before we’d even gotten to the park entrance.
“Family date number one,” Jace said quietly. “Epic success.”
I chuckled, holding Kayden’s hand. “Agreed, babe. Great idea.”
