Chapter 38 - Regina
T rying to open my eyes, my body is too sluggish to respond. At some point, my hands have been tied behind my back. The cold seeping into my bones is making my entire body ache. Unable to keep my head up, I use the unforgiving wall behind me to support the heavy weight.
A rough voice speaks, echoing through the room I am being held in.
“Your mate couldn’t just leave well enough alone, could he?” the echo makes my head pound harder than it already is.
“Wh-wha-what…a-a-are…y-you…ta-ta-talking…ab-about?” I stutter out between chattering teeth.
“ME!” they scream out, causing me to flinch. “I just needed some supplies to get through the cold and to heal. He couldn’t just leave me alone. Do you know how many times he has almost caught me? DO YOU?”
Unable to answer or understand what they are talking about, my head tilts to the side. Finding it difficult to keep my eyes open, my body relaxes as the shaking starts to subside. A soft smile crosses my lips as the ground shakes and a loud roar sounds.
“Chayce…” my whisper is the last thing I remember.
