Chapter 37 - Chayce

W e have tried everything to pinpoint Regina’s location. Deakon was able to get a general area, which helps, but it’s not enough. She is in an area that we haven’t had a chance to search yet, and it’s large. I guess Jaygon was taking advantage of our situation.

The sun is finally starting to rise. Almost the entire town has turned out to help find my mate.

Climbing into my truck, my brothers in tow, my phone rings. Starting it up, the phone kicks to the hands-free system built into the radio.

“It’s not Jaygon Jones that has Gina,” the deep voice that is becoming all too familiar says.

If the truck was moving, I would have slammed on the brakes at Rafferty’s statement.

“What do you mean it’s not Jaygon?” Adyr asks for me. I ignore the fact that he climbed into the truck without me noticing, my mind too distracted to comprehend what this means. Being up for twenty-four hours will do that, I guess.

“Jaygon Jones’s body was found this morning. His head was removed,” Rafferty says flatly.

“Well, if it isn’t him, that means one of the guys looking for payment has her,” Brady interjects. When did he get here? Shaking my head to clear the random thoughts popping into my head, I focus back on the conversation with Rafferty.

“There was a note with the body. The long and short of it is that they have no interest in Gina,” he says.

“What. The. Fuck?” Brady says, taking the words out of my mouth.

“Exactly,” Rafferty says with a huff. “So if it isn’t Jaygon and his business partners, for lack of a better term, aren’t behind this, who the fuck is?” he asks angrily.

“Regina was able to call Emmalee last night. The call got disconnected, but we have been able to narrow down the area the call originated from. We are on our way there now. Our doctor is on standby in case she needs medical attention.” Adyr gives Rafferty the information, leaving me to process all of this new information.

“Okay, go find our girl,” Rafferty orders, adding on, “keep me updated on what’s going on.”

He and Adyr talk a little more, but it all fades into the background.
