Chapter 11

All eyes were on Kwinn and her crew as they made their way back to the VIP section at Fa?ade.

They’d been sipping throughout the night, and a few of their bladders hadn’t stood a chance.

Thankfully, a private bathroom was available for the special guests of the evening.

Saiko led the line, with Kwinn behind her, Endie took up the third space, while Lauryn followed up the end.

“Y’all good?” Melo leaned down to whisper in Kwinn’s ear as she resumed her spot right beside him.

Looking fine as ever, as if he wanted to get fucked where he stood, Melo rocked a black vintage-style Re-up Mechanic shirt with a few buttons undone, showing off thick gold chains. Black denim and his newly released shoes complemented the fit.

“Yes.” She nodded, inhaling his cologne as she stared up at him.

As if she hadn’t been properly taking dick all week, Kwinn’s entire being filled with waiting, seeing the glossiness of his eyes. They were more than a few drinks in, and she was ready to take his ass down. Melo had pulled the freak up out of her, and there was no turning back.

“You better stop looking at me like that ‘fore I have Sarge pull the truck around,” Melo spoke against her ear and squeezed her ass.

The fitted leopard-print mini dress with cream and red flowers throughout the sheer pattern hugged every curve of her body.

Red lace along the hem added a little extra femininity to the otherwise wild print, but not in a tacky way.

Courtesy of her man, a Roberto Coin gold bangle and a classic tennis bracelet decorated her wrist. She’d bought him a Cuban bracelet, so he copped her two.

They were going gift for gift, on some rich playa type shit.

“Don’t do that.” She giggled. “We’re having a good time.”

A good time was an understatement. Kwinn and her girls weren’t the sit-pretty-in-the-section type.

At least not for this occasion. If they went out, they were turning up.

There was too much ass clapping and high energy to sit idly by and not participate in the festivities.

The DJ had the place rocking as Racks Blue thumped through the speakers.

Feeling their liquor and the lyrics, Kwinn and Saiko held stacks of money to their ears and rapped word for word with Mr. Hendrix himself.

“What I’m supposed to do when these racks blue? Ooooh,” they crooned.

Baby-free for the night, Lauryn tossed bills at a super thick stripper bent over in front of her, while Endie smacked her ass.

Wanting in on some of the action, another entered the section and caught Kwinn’s attention even behind her oversized black shades.

She and Saiko made it rain while Melo, along with his brothers and some EST members, stood back watching them show out.

“Baby in the all-black got it,” East said, stepping beside Melo. “That’s Kwinn’s best friend, right?”

Smirking, Melo nodded.

“Yeah,” East uttered, watching Saiko sexily roll her hips in the low-rise capri pants, showing off her lower back tattoo. For as short as she was at five-foot-four, she was super stacked, holding most of her weight in her ass. “I need that.”

“Since when, nigga?” Melo asked, humored by his sudden tenacity.

“Since now. And look at Cody’s bullshitting ass trying to push up on her. Nah,” East declared, stepping off toward them.

East was about to put an end to some shit before it could get started. Melo chuckled and drank from his cup as Kwinn made her way back to him. Smiling, she fluttered her mink lashes. She knew it was a bad idea to break her seal by going to the bathroom, but she couldn’t hold it.

“Babe! I’m a little fucked up.”

Grabbing one of the water bottles out of the bucket, Melo twisted the cap and handed it to her. “Sip on this.”

Doing just that, Kwinn planted her backside against him.

Affectionately, he wrapped an arm around her as she sobered up some.

It was a good thing she had, or she would’ve missed Melo shooing some chick out of their section.

Shaking his head, he motioned for her to gon’ head about her business because he was no longer it and hadn’t been for a while.

Kwinn didn’t bother to ask any questions, and she didn’t have to.

“My ex,” he grumbled in her ear, and playfully bit her neck. “You trying to back all this ass up on me. Let me see sum’.”

With a big smile, Kwinn winded her hips as the DJ set the tone and spun Melo’s new single. Hearing her voice float through the speakers, knowing how that intro came about made Kwinn put on a show. It was for her man, but of course the spotlight was on them both tonight.

“Fuck it up, friend,” Saiko hyped.

Bending over, Kwinn rode the beat just like she rode the dick to the man rapping the explicit verse.

Melo held the hem of her dress down, with his eyes trained on her ass.

He couldn’t wait to slide up in her. Standing up straight, Kwinn tried to move out of his embrace so he could have the moment, but he didn’t let her.

Tightening his grip on her waist, Melo rapped in her ear.

“I gotta super bad bitch who don’t want for shit. She just tell me what she wants, and I go and get it.”

The raspiness of his voice made Kwinn’s nipples tingle like always in his presence.

Though the song had been recorded before their time, Melo hadn’t told one lie.

It’d been whatever for her and about her since day one.

Watching everyone in their section and the club sing his lyrics word for word would never get old to him.

Another forty minutes floated by before Melo decided to call it a night.

With a growling stomach, he had one spot in mind.

He stopped to take a few pictures with people as they headed out.

Protectively, he walked behind Kwinn while she and Saiko were in a fit of giggles about some shit he knew wasn’t that funny.

“Aye, Juvie’s still open?” Melo asked no one in particular as they made it outside. He had a taste for some chicken and knew it’d hit the spot. Before he could get his answer, the sight of a nigga tugging on Kwinn’s arm captured his attention.

“Let me talk to you right quick,” Jabari spat.

Jerking away from him, Kwinn stumbled a bit. “What the fuck!”

“Nigga, don’t be grabbing on her!” Lauryn and Saiko yelled, swinging on him.

“I just need to talk to?—”

Jabari’s sentence and vision were cut short as Melo smashed his gun across his face.

There wouldn’t be no mothafuckin’ talking in his presence.

Had there not been so many witnesses, there would’ve been no breathing for his bitch ass either.

The blows were so vicious, Jabari crouched at the impact, and that was the wrong thing to do.

The women scrambled out of the way as a handful of trained-to-go EST niggas beat his ass. Foolishly, Jabari had chosen the wrong time and definitely the wrong place to try and plead his case. There wasn’t even one to discuss, yet here he was, having made the worst decision of his life.

“A’ight, a’ight. That’s enough,” Sarge asserted, making them retreat.

“Pussy-ass nigga!” Brash, the rowdiest of the bunch, spat, really wanting to let his gun talk.

Melo made sure Kwinn and her girls were tucked away safely, before addressing Jabari. A kick to his ribs made him groan in pain.

“Touch her again, and yo’ face gon’ be touching a shirt, bitch!” Melo spat. He ran his tongue over his teeth and addressed security, who clearly hadn’t been doing their job. “Move this crippled-ass nigga out of my way.”

Melo hopped in the backseat, sliding next to Kwinn, and Sarge maneuvered through the parking lot. Kwinn had her sister on the phone, who’d pulled off behind them.

“Saiko and Endie are good. She just texted me.” Kwinn huffed. “Yeah. Okay. Girl! I know. Weird-ass nigga. Mhm. Please do. I love you, too.”

Flustered and confused all at once, Kwinn hung up and replied to Saiko’s text before locking her phone. She didn’t know what to make of what had just gone down. Beside her, Melo’s chest heaved, and she saw his jaw flex under the passing streetlights.

“I haven’t talked to him, if that’s what you’re thinking,” Kwinn said.

Melo looked her way. “It’s not. I know you haven’t. You good, though? Come here. Let me look at your ankle.”

He grabbed her leg and lifted her foot onto his lap before Kwinn could do so. She limped a bit when he watched her get in the truck and knew it was probably from her slight stumble but still wanted to check. Kwinn groaned as he massaged her foot and the tender spot.

“You were risking catching a charge for nothing,” Kwinn fussed.

Melo’s hands stopped moving. “What you mean for nothing?” He grimaced. “You think you mean nothing to me?”

Kwinn swallowed hard, feeling a weird ache in her chest. “No, that’s not what I meant.”

“You better get them words together, my baby. You lucky I ain’t make it to where the nigga never plays again. He already got traded to the shittiest team and got the mothafuckin’ audacity to pull some shit like this.” He chuckled, shaking his head.

He was back rubbing her foot, and Kwinn just sat there. She truly had no words, and the pressure he was applying to the arch of her foot had her seeing stars.

“Mmmm,” she moaned. “That feels so good.”

Melo smacked her leg, making her eyes pop open. “That right there is why that nigga almost lost his life. Moaning all sexy. He miss that shit.”

Chuckling, Kwinn shook her head. “Please be serious for once. How do you just bash a man across the head and act like it never happened?”

“‘Cause, that’s what I do, luv. Move on from shit that doesn’t mean anything. That nigga got what he came looking for. I already let him make it when he was being a hoe in my messages concerning you, but I wasn’t giving him any more passes.”

Kwinn’s brows furrowed. “Wait. He’s been sending you messages?”

He nodded, switching to her other foot. “Yeah. Whining about us having been fucking around. Crybaby-ass nigga. Wasn’t nobody trying to hear that shit,” Melo snarled. “I ain’t tell you ‘cause it don’t matter. That shit with him is in the past. His mothafuckin’ loss.”

Sadly, it was. Jabari had lost his woman, his team, and now a few teeth since he wanted to play tough.

Melo told Kwinn there wasn’t an issue unless she or Jabari made it one, and it was safe to say, it’d be his last one for sure.

Accepting what it was and what it would never be again would’ve done him some good.
